A week after repelling Charir-dar, Lankani city was almost done building the first building for the school.
The city built two building first. One was made of rock and gemstones. This building was named Lecture Hall. This is where warriors would speak to new warriors on the path of cultivation.
The second building was made of stone and steel. They named this building Battle hall. In this hall, instructors would demonstrate techniques and students would follow.
Now the city finally began work on the third building. This wooden and metal building would become Cultivation Hall. The designs of it are based on the 3rd domain in the palace.
Leo enjoyed seeing the school built, but his focus was on getting supplies so that he could leave.
After telling Sly the excellent news, Leo received all the things he asked for and more. The council even agreed to loosen the rules on his arena.
Staying in a building Sly acquired a human knocked at Leo's front door.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Leo a group of humans showed up on the outskirts of the city. The council sent a message asking you to welcome them."
Over the last week, previous human slaves and refugees arrived in the city. The first few feared Ab-dab when he went to welcome them, so he asked Leo to help him ever since.
Leo made his way to the outer city and nodded at the guard. Almost everyone in Lankani city knew about the new council member Leo. The guard said, "Council member." With a chest salute, the mermanian guard went back to his duties.
Leo looked at the group of humans. They were covered in filth, and skinny. Leo presented his most welcoming smile and said, "welcome to Lankani city."
"A human." All of them were shocked. What they heard about this city was true? Humans will be safe here.
An older man with a cloth tied around waist walked forward. "We are from the west of here. I am called Makin. What may we call you?"
"I'm Leo, and I'm one of the leaders here." Even though it was temporary, he wouldn't say that here.
"Is this place truly safe?" A little girl around ten asked.
Leo placed his backpack down and handed them some food he brought over. It always earns their trust and gives them energy. Leo handed the small girl a juicy fruit which she ate almost as soon as it touched her hands. The juices went all over here face, but the little girl didn't care. She was in pure joy after eating something so tasty.
Leo pulled out a piece of cloth and cleaned her face. The little girl just gave him the brightest smile he had ever seen.
"Alright, gather your things. I am going to take you to the tents you will be staying in."
Leo and the group of refugees followed Leo through the city to the south side. He showed the group to a bunch of temporary living tents till they figure out where they want to live.
"Makin, there are no free rides in the city. You must work to earn you and your people living here. Join the farms the mermanians run or work in the trade market. The children that want to become cultivators should head to the school.
Like that, Leo left them to their own devices. He was working on something for the school that had most of his focus.
The biggest issue why earthlings were behind the other races is we no longer have a dantian gland. The Renegades created a false dantian which most of its members use. Several members also use objects to substitute a dantian. Hiro used his sword for a long time.
Leo wanted to write his experiences and knowledge to help all humans on the path of cultivation. Leo spent the next three days cultivating and writing.
After three days, Leo headed to the Cultivation Hall. The new hall was still being furnished. Leo walked up and saw Ab-dab telling were he wanted things.
"Leo, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to contribute the first book for human cultivators. Ab-dab, make sure all humans read this book, alright?"
"I will. I promise. Tomorrow will be our grand opening, and we will accept our first batch of students."
"Don't worry. I will be there."
Leo talked for a bit then headed back to his place. He started getting everything together. A knock came on his door. A beastman that worked for Sly was waiting for him.
"Beast Master, Sly said he has something to tell you. It's about what you asked after getting your stuff from him."
Leo nodded and understood. He told the beastman to pass a message that he would see Sly after the opening ceremony for the school.
The next day was a new beginning in Lankani city. Several young people were gathered around the gate to the new school. "Welcome to everyone to Unity College," announced Ab-dab.
The council opened the gate and let them all in. Ab-dab said he would be giving the first lecture in Lecture Hall.
Leo pulled the council to the side and told them that he was leaving. They wanted Leo to stay to give balance to the council, but he said he needed to go. He bid them farewell and headed to the arena.
Upon arrival, the beastmen escorted Leo to Sly's office. "Beast Master, he is inside."
Leo walked inside to see Sly sitting at a desk using some computer.
"Leo, welcome. Come in and sit down my friend."
"Sly, go on and tell me what info you got," Leo said frankly. He was ready to go and didn't want to spend forever talking to Sly.
"Alright, so we heard from some draconians that the human ships are southwest of here."
Sly handed Leo a chip with data on the coordinates. Leo thanked him and started to walk out.
"Leo, I have something you might be interested in hearing."
"What that Sly?"
"You mentioned to me I'm not your first beastman friend and that you had one near the cat variants territory. I got news from a few men that Unit 698, Tigra, is going to wage a full-on war with Unit 737. I just figured you'd like to know."
Leo clenched his fist. He thanked Sly for the info and headed to his house. Outside was an aircraft loaded with all his supplies he asked Sly to retrieve.
"I don't know what I should do..." Leo said to himself climbing into the craft. Should he help Shadow or return to the Renegades.
