He wanted to pull her into a hug as soon as he saw her but he stopped himself. Instead, he gently tapped her shoulder and said, "Hey, it's dinner time. Come on, let's go downstairs together," as he guided her out of the study.
Still a bit overwhelmed, she followed his lead without saying anything.
When they got to the dining room, she washed her hands and her tear stained face. At the same time, Cody stood silently nearby preparing a towel for her to dry herself.
She absentmindedly took the towel he offered muttering her thanks.
They were alone at the dining table since Meg went on a date with her boyfriend. They ate quietly with Cody serving her the dishes.
Probably because of her current state or due to the fact that it wasn't her husband who prepared their dinner, she found the food less palatable. However, she continued to slowly chew until she got her fill.
He continued to pay close attention to her without saying a word. He didn't know what to say, anyway. He just contented himself with her presence.
With nothing else to do, and still without talking with each other, the two simultaneously rose after eating. Both of them also headed out to garden as if on reflex. Well, strolling together after dinner became a habit to them shortly after they returned from Ise.
And just like any other habit, they naturally fell into that to keep their personal rhythm. Yet, they remained mum.
There was a meteor shower that night that neither of them have been aware of. Because of the uncomfortable silence, there was nowhere for George to look but up. She quickly spotted Orion, her usual anchor in the night sky when she wants to look at other constellations. That was when she noticed the spectacle at the nebula.
On impulse, she tugged on Cody's sleeve pointing upwards and said, "Look, over at Orion ..." then she looked at him.
He merely afforded himself a brief glance at the direction she was pointing at before looking down at her saying, "Yes... beautiful ." Then he gently touched her cheeks, brushing away some hair and closing the distance between them.
"Where are you looking?" She said, pushing his chin a little so he could look up.
"You, of course. What else will I be looking at?" He asked arching an eyebrow looking right back at her.
"Cody... seriously?" She asked looking away as she felt her face flushed.
He chuckled at her reaction and this time, he cupped her chin so she could look up. Not at Orion, but directly back at him. Then he pulled her towards him and nuzzled on her earlobe.
The tingling made her face redder. He couldn't clearly see the color but he certainly felt her cheeks heating up. So he decided to continue teasing by giving her ear a small bite.
She melted in his arms as she couldn't find the strength to push him away. And just like that, the earlier troubles were forgotten and a hot passionate exchange called make up sex naturally followed.
