Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Growing - Conflict

On the edge of a cliff, a Young Boy of the age fifteen sat down calmly in a meditative position. His eyes were closed an ever-changing aura yet enveloped his body. It would turn into a Menacing atmosphere that seemed to devour everything in its path and then sometimes it would change into a serene aura capable of soothing you.

Suddenly, the boy's eyebrows furrowed as black veins started popping all over his body and a cyclone of Black energy formed in the air. The hurricane of energy whirled around the boy and his bones began shattering one by one as the black power invaded his body causing him inhumane pain. However, the boy resisted the pain, and his defiance soon got rewarded for as a powerful outburst of energy that created howling winds and exploded out of the red-haired boy's body.

Naturally, the boy was Lucian who had been training with the old man for the last four years.

"Finally after three months of gruelling hard work I've become an Eighth-Ranked Acolyte." Lucian thought. "I feel so much power coursing through my body right now that I think I could easily deal with Ninth-Ranked Acolytes. I would feel guilty if I don't test this amazing power out."

Lucian stood up and chanted a spell that he learned from the old man. "Dark spirits of the abyss grant me the power to destroy any in my path, Shadow Palm." Dark energy gathered toward his hands when he palmed down towards the cliff he was on only to realise his folly. He immediately jumped back as the place he just stood utterly collapsed down into the forests below.

Lucian spotted a broad smile as he thought.

"That would guarantee I am invincible in my rank." Looking towards the horizon could see the small town of Raven and the majestic Malfor Forest that he had been residing in for the last year. Over the previous four years, Lucian had learnt a lot from the old man including Eighteen Powerful Spells.

Lucian jumped down from the cliff he was currently on, and as the wind brushed Lucian's face, he chanted a spell. "Spirits of the Wind guide me towards safety, Float Bubble." A small bubble formed in the air encompassing Lucian's entire body and guiding him towards a tree where he landed.

Lucian looked towards the direction the town was in and charged towards there, however, as he was running through the forest a series of howls were heard behind him and In front of him suggesting that a wolf pack surrounded him.

Lucian came to a stop and activated the Eye of the Keeper, in front of him were 14 Windchasers. A species of wolves that specialised in speed and behind him was 15.

A standard Windchaser pack concluded of about Rank 3-4(equal to a Rank 3-4 Acolyte) wolves. There were about 17 Rank 3 Windchasers and 12 Rank 4 Windchasers. The alpha of the pack was presumably hiding in the forest as Of all types of wolves Windchaser Alphas had an excellent reputation of being cowards.

"This would be annoying to deal with alone." Lucian thought. "Shadow Guard why don't you help me out." A black humanoid shape started rising out of Lucian's shadow. The Shadow was extraordinarily tall and lanky. It had long arms that reached its hips. The Shadow sported no physical features and no form of intelligence. Its entire existence was due to two things, protect and devour.

"Shadow Guard take the wolves behind me; I'll take the ones up front," Lucian said. Looking at the aggressive wolves, Lucian thought "I'll make sure this finishes fast and tidy."

Half of the wolves started running towards him. Lucian instantly cast a spell and spread apart his hand as he brought them together to clap each other. The clap generated a powerful force causing sharp black winds to hurl at high speeds towards the wolves. The wolves experienced a bloodbath as they were torn apart to shreds. Upon seeing this, the remaining wolves were instantly enraged with their eyes turning blood red and there while and a bloody aura protruding out them.

This technique was known as Berserk. A stage a beast would enter when enraged or on the verge of death. It multiplied their abilities by at least twice, and Lucian did not want to face enraged creatures and started chanting a spell that would end them once and for all.

"Spirits of Hell awaken from your never-ending slumber and supplement me with your supreme power. Scorch the earth and Burn the heavens. Heed my call and Burn all in my path. Black Flames of Death I command you to wipe out these filthy beasts from the face of the world."

As Lucian finished his chant, a crack could be seen in the air as space distorted and a blood red portal formed in the air. This blood red portal was a minor gate to hell, and a torrential river of Black Flames of Death invaded the Malfor Forest. Upon seeing this Lucian called back the Shadow Guard that was busy killing the wolves and instantly used a wind spell to fly away from the area.

When the fires hunger was satiated the minor gate closed, and the Black Flames of Death returned to hell. Lucian looked down from a tall tree at the small region of the forest and couldn't believe the power of this spell. This power was the most destructive power of the Eighteen Powerful Spells he learnt from the old man. However, it was also the one he had the least mastery.

Suddenly, Lucian turned his attention towards Raven as he sensed an enormous amount of energy gathering there. The energy seemed to be hostile as Lucian could see the outer wall of the town destroyed. Lucian Immediately set out for the town travelling at a breakneck pace as he had sensed something that he never had in his life, something that brought terror in his heart. Danger.
