Chapter 40 - NINE YEARS AGO

"When did our brothers become so fragile to be beaten by a weak girl?" another man shouted but no one objected those were preparing sharp point bamboo digging in the ground and with the sharp point facing upward.

Then they brought the woman laid her on the sharp bamboo tips and with her earth-shattering screams they started laughing.

Sharp bamboo tips were digging in her from the back body with the burden which was placed on her chest and abdomen part, more loud screams echoed.

Her soft skin was tearing apart gradually and the pain was unbearable, she wanted to die immediately with this pain but it was a too slow process, she would not die early because of the burden which was not much nor less.

Slowly her blood would seep out from her body with the wounds of sharp tips of bamboo, where she was laid; it was four feet above from ground.

As soon as her screams died dim, they would increase the burden on her chest.

There were many temporary bivouacs of Huns and they were sitting in circles.

They seemed that they did not hear her screams.

Their faces were decorated with single coal lines across their faces.

Thick rough dresses were to bear the barren dry weather.

General Zhong rushed with his calculated soldiers and the first sight he saw that girl was laying on the sharp bamboo edges and her blood was dying red the small area down her shoulders and her screams could drive insane a normal human.

It was already midnight; he rushed toward the group of Huns who were paying special attention to increase her screams.

He slaughtered all of them in his fury and released the burden from her chest.

He carried her pinned body and brought on plain ground, she pulled her hands to make a fist to General and begged, "You are generous please mercy on me and grant me death," this was the first time in his life that he cried in agony.

She was crying unbearably and his tears were falling to see her careless state.

"I brought you here to grant you death," someone used his sword to stab her which General Zhong stopped with his sword and he left her on the plain ground to tackle this bastard first.

Today he was here to fight till the end. King was ruthless to let the barbarian Huns invade these small factions just to fulfill his own wishes and they were living here like unbridled forest hounds.

King dragged this matter long because he wanted to let others know that Huns were frightening and General Zhong was unable to stand against them in confrontation, what others did not know that he was not provided sufficient army and he was kept in dark about many matters.

That man died at the hands of General and he looked back, the girl was also dead, General roared with a loud howl.

He could not wait for more infantry to come and see the atrocities the people facing by the barbarian Huns; he called his soldiers for direct confrontation.

Until morning most of his soldiers were dead and many men of barbarian Huns were also slaughtered and General was still fighting valiantly until he was left alone, his loyal soldiers fell in this confrontation, they fought bravely making their last drop of blood priceless.

He was fighting in between a big group of Huns when someone shouted that King was here to order his last words, General was amid the crowd of Huns, he was fighting from the previous twelve hours non-stop.

King raised his hands and all swords left suspended in the air, "Zhong you are naïve, you think that I have sent you to settle Huns but the truth is that I have arranged Huns to settle you, I never agreed with the father to appoint you as the first general but father never saw his own capable son."

General Zhong heard it and he thought about nothing else than his daughter, "My daughter, please don't do anything to her, she is innocent," this was the first time in his life that he pleaded for something in front of someone.

King shrugged his soldiers, "She is already fallen in the deep dead well," saying this he gestured and moved from his sight leaving his consciousness in the deep dead well where his daughter was laying, he lost his daughter, and he lost everything.

A doctor could operate thousands of patients without any effect on his emotions but when his own child happened to lay on that same operating bed his hands would quiver and he would not be able to operate his own child, General had faced many things and slaughtered many enemies for the sake of safety of the Kingdom but he could not bear the words which spoke the King that his innocent daughter was killed because his father was General and the King disliked General.
