Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

The ground gave way, as Lovell tried to tell Zero off, as the dust settled Lovell heard Lance called out in pain. He looked up to see Zero above, safe, as he rubbed his head. Zero hollered something, but Lovell's ears ringing from hitting his head on the way down. Lance helped him up, as Lovell tried to get his barring. Lance turned to Zero and waved to him as they left from their location.

Lance helped Lovell as they walked to a park, setting Lovell down to rest. Lance checked over Lovell, seeing if there were any severe injuries. Lovell looked up at Lance, "I think I'll be fine; besides I can always use—"

Lance touched his sides, making Lovell wince in pain. "Well, you need a doctor or a healer to look at you." Lance is swinging Lovell's arm over him. "Come on; let's go searching for one."

Lovell winced as he stood holding his side, Lance knew it was bad enough for Lovell to move anymore. "What's wrong with me?" Lovell looked at his hand, seeing blood from his injury. "Oh pryne, Lance, what is the date today?"

Lance looked at Lovell, seeing the blood. "It's, I think Lark thirty-three, why is that important at a time like this?"

Lovell could feel his body weakening, "Because of my beastman blood, I am weakened around the new moon of Larin." Lovell tried to stay awake, knowing every moment count as he lost consciousness. He could hear Lance calling out to him to stay with him as he felt his body dragged along.

Lovell woke to see a man chatting with Lance, "—So he'll make a full recovery then?"

The man smiled as Lovell sat up. "Yes, he's lucky that he told of his weakness, I was able to imitate Larins wavelengths to reactivate his natural healing abilities—" The man looked over to Lovell, "Ah, your awake then, I see?"

Lance hugged Lovell as he began to cry, Lovell smiled at him, "You are one giant cry baby over this."

Lance sat back as he calmed himself, then slapped him. "That's for scaring me, you idiot!"

Lovell rubbed his cheek, "I already know in a kynroc."

The man looked at Lovell, "Young man are you by chance part theyan?"

Lovell looked at him; he sighed, "Yeah, it's obvious with that word, wasn't it?"

The man nodded. "Very obvious if you don't know of the threyysh language." The man handed over Lovell, a class filled with a liquid. "Now, drink this, and you will free to leave." The man smiled as Lovell took the glass from him. Lovell hesitantly chugged down the liquid; he felt the liquids power course through him healing his wounds.

Lovell thanked the man as he got himself redressed, meeting Lance outside. "Sorry to make you worry, but can you keep this between us and not let Luna worry?"

Lance scorned Lovell as they walked down the streets. Lovell noticed that they were in the fall district's commons area, he looked over to the far side when he saw something. Lovell squinted his eyes to see what it was; then he noticed the mask.

Lance turned to Lovell as he noticed he was running off somewhere. "Lovell, wait up; you're not fully healed!"

Lovell gave chase to the masked man, as he turned down an alleyway. The man placed his dagger on Lovell's neck before he entered the alley. "Who are you, and what do you—wait, Lovell?" Kyle removed his mask as Lovell smiled at him. "What are you doing here?"

Lovell smiled, "I could ask you the same thing, Kyle?"

Lance huffed as he caught up to Lovell, "Lovell, what's—what's the rush?"

Kyle looked at Lance's, as sweat poured down of him. "Who is this Lovell?"

Lovell sighed, "Lance, a friend and fellow Ren-Ky warrior."

Kyle whipped his head at Lovell, "You have to be joking?" Lovell shook his head. "Well, this changes things, but first, tell me why you are doing here?"

Lovell leaned against the wall. "I went looking for my old gang, and found out that Ark was captured, we originally came just to save his ryy or ass but ended up with a job to stop the advisor who is working in tangent with the Faremin forces."

Kyle sighed as he held his head, "Just my luck, I can here to meet with my mother to decipher some of Vann's notes, and now this is going on." Kyle turned to Lance as he fell to his rear. "Is he going to be ok?"

Lovell looked at Lance, "Yeah, somehow? Lance is Lance, lazy but reliable."

Lance shot a look at Lovell. "Hey, I am just not a runner, even though I'm a knight of Grand Dale." Kyle and Lovell stared at him. "What? Gale has seen me train, and he knows when I think of running or any severe hard work I get tuckered out."

Kyle burst out laughing at him, "That sounds like the Pendragon family I have heard rumours of."

Lovell turned to Kyle. "well, we got separated from our other companion, and we don't know the area, might we join you?"

Kyle calmed as he turned to Lovell. "Sure, I did grow up in this city years ago."

Lovell stood up as Lance propped himself up, following Kyle down the alleyways to a small shop. Lance recognized the sign but couldn't put his finger on where. Kyle checks to see if the shop was open before they headed to the back. Kyle picked the lock; within moments, the lock opened. Lovell entered first as Lance followed behind.

Kyle shut the door behind them. "it seems she's out for a while, so take a seat, and I'll make some tea."

Lance turned Kyle. "So, why don't you have a key?"

Kyle smiled as he grabbed some cups before filling the kettle. "Because it would give me away within the faremin forces that I might be a spy?"

Lance dropped his mouth as he turned to Lovell. "Makes sense considering you helped me escape?"

Kyle set the kettle on the stovetop and ignited the burner. "Yeah, where did you end up at afterwards?"

Kyle sat down with Lovell, "Fallmist believe it or not. Landing in the lap of the Rosier house."

Kyle stunned as he looked at Lovell, "You must have had a mana drain after that jump?"

Lovell laughed as Lance watched them chat. "Yeah, I was bedridden for twenty days, but after that, I met some twins, and the only daughter came with me to Summerwind, where I was reunited with Lance and Gale."

The kettle began to whistle. Kyle got up and fixed them some tea. "Sound like you had some trip back to then. I heard about what happened before I headed out myself." Kyle placed the drink on the table before sitting back down.

Lovell looked at the tea. "Yeah, Luna was there, and well, a friend of hers was conscripted into the forces after Marewoods was taken over. He died just before we all left town." Lovell took a drink of the tea.

Kyle stared at him. "I am betting she saw."

Lovell shook his head. "No, but I made a summons contract with him as he was dying to keep his wish of protecting her."

Kyle leaned back as he stared at the ceiling. "This war has hurt one too many people, and it's hard to believe that hope is finally showing its face. After all these years. With Luan surviving to adulthood and all the Ren-Ky warriors are being found." Kyle turned to lances glaring eyes, "So, how many of your company are Ren-Ky warriors?"

Lovell turned to Lance, "other than Luna and Fang, all of us."

Kyle spat out his tea, "Wait, all six are together?!" Lovell nodded at him. "by the heavens, that means, that the Jewels are going to call out for their rightful wielders."

Lance tilted his head at Kyle, "what are these jewels?"

Kyle closed his eyes. "These jewels are known as the Ren-Ky jewels, one for each warrior," Lovell remembers he had a jewelled pendant as a keepsake from Ark.

He pulled it out, showing a two-toned jewel, composed of a pearl and onyx. "Hey, Kyle, would this be one of them?"

Kyle looked over; he stood up, grabbing the pendant, "Where and when did you get this, and how was it not noticed before?!"

Lance tilted his head, "You mean that thing is one of them?"

Kyle nodded as Lovell sighed. "One, Ark gave it to me years ago, two I don't think the men at that fortress knew what it was and never took it off me."

Lance and Kyle stared at Lovell; he could feel the air stagnate as they looked at him. Then the sound of a door opening caught their attention.

"Hey, Kyle, sorry for the wait, those nobles are horrible when it comes to traffic—Oh it you." A young girl entered the room, pointing at Lance, as they stared at her.
