Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

Lovell walked up to him as he took the execution blade, he turned to the people. "As you all know, this man was accused of a crime, you have deemed punishable by death, but the real criminal stands in the shadow within the castle walls!" The advisor stood in shock as Fang stopped him from interfering. "My name is Lovell Krisnik, and I know the real culprit. He's a man that has torn this kingdom apart sixteen years ago!"

The people began to chatter as he watches them think about what he said. The advisor broke free from Fang, "You speak non-sense boy!?" The people looked at the advisor as Lovell waited for him to speak. "The culprit is my—" he stopped as he found what he was about to say, he turned to Lovell as he saw a grin upon his face.

Lovell stepped to the edge. "You all know of the late advisor was a non-human, but what you don't know is that he was murdered so that another he never would take his place!" The people didn't believe him as they began to cry out. Lovell turned to Zero, who was waiting. "May didn't know this, but that same day the princess was with child when she disappeared. that her children were the late advisors' children as well, the late King approved of their marriage and were to marry after they were born, but the man you have trusted and destroyed you with his honeyed words took advantage of you!"

Zero walked out as he held the staff of succession; the people noticed that it was glowing brightly. The advisor felt a chill as he knew that if he spoke, he would tell the truth. Zero turned to the advisor. "My name is Zero Foxtail, and as you can see, I'm the heir of our kingdom. The advisor has toyed with all of us as he kills to silence anyone who opposes him. This man has tricked you, and my friend here has already found the truth. My uncle, the current King, was said to be incompetent, but that was the advisor trying to gain power that was not his!"

The people stood silent as the advisor gritted his teeth, "You have no proof of the matter—"

"I object to that!?" Luna walked onto the stage with Zephyr and the man. "Lovell here cast not long ago a truth spell meaning no one can lie while he stands here before us." She turned the man as he nodded.

He walked up beside Lovell. "I was commissioned by the advisor to steal this!" He held out the stolen pendant. "I was promised the right to return to the guards, but when I met our prince, I was shown the error of my ways. For he is also a Ren-Ky warrior just like this young man and most of his friends!" He placed his hand on Lovell's shoulder as the advisor squealed at what he heard. "So, if you think that something not wrong looks at our slums, it used to be beautiful, and every year it creeps up to the castle!"

The people watched as they felt the truth unravel before them Lovell stepped forward as the people turned to watch what he would do next. "You know inside this is true, and I can see it within many of you. My friend's prince Gale of Grand Dale, Lance, Scarlet de Rosier, Princess Zephyr Foxtail, Prince Zero, my half-brother Fang, and Lady Lunatica's reincarnation was asked by your King to free an innocent man. He exposed the advisor for who he is. For many of you, you might think I'm just saying it, but a theyan can never lie!"

Lovell stared as he transformed into his true-form; the people stared as they began to realize that the King was held against his will. They began to shout for Ark's release as the advisor tried to escape but was stopped by Lance, who was hiding in plain sight. Lovell walked up to Ark and pulled him up, pulling off the blind over his head.

Ark looked at Lovell. "You ass." Lovell smiled at him as the other guards chained the advisor; they looked at him as he tried to protest his release. Ark walked up to the man. "You think that by working with Demora would spare your existence and place you as the advisor; you are sorely mistaken. He kills those he finds useless."

The man struggled as Ark watched in glee as the guards took him away. The people began to cheer as if a weight was lifted from them. Lovell turned to Zero as he sighed, fell to his knees. Lovell walked up to him, extending his hand to him. "We did it."

Zero looked up at him as he smiled. "Yes, we did and without bloodshed." Zero grabbed his hand, Lovell hoisting him up. "Now, there is still lots to do before we leave, isn't there?"

Lovell smiled at Zero. "Yeah, but that might happen later." He looked at the people. "I think a party is—Zero?"

Zero walked up to the people; they all stopped as they watched him step up. "I know you wish to celebrate, but today is also the day my father died seventeen years ago. I wish for us to remember what he stood for and what he sacrificed his life for!" Zephyr walked up to him; Zero turned to her before looking back at the people. "Also, the laws that made non-humans outcasted are going to be re-lifted, and I want my sister to be the next advisor when we return from our duties as Ren-Ky warriors. Free our world from a menace that holds fear in the back of our minds! So, until that time, my uncle, your current King, will take the throne, and Master August will be the advisor!"

August stood in shock as the King laughed. "Young lord, are you sure?"

Zephyr smiled at him. "He is sure; we discussed this overnight. We both think that you would be the best suited for the position till then."

August looked over at Zero as he could see their mother within their eyes, strong and wise beyond their years. August sighed as he looked at the people, seeing them watch them as he stood there. He smiled at the twins, "I would be honoured, young Lord and Lady."

The next day, the current King held a banquet for Lovell and everyone. Zero and Zephyr mingled with the noble houses as to a quaint themselves with them as August helped them understand how to talk to them. Lance and Gale spoke with the King about allying with their kingdoms, while Scarlet caught up with her father, and Fang stood in the background. Lovell looked around to find Luna but couldn't see her; he decides to head outside. As he did, he noticed Luna standing at the balcony, staring out into the night.

She turned to him as he walked up to her. "Nice night out, isn't it?"

Lovell looked out into the night sky as he smiled. "Yeah, it's still hard to believe that everything worked into our favour this time."

Luna turned to him. "What do you mean this time?"

Lovell looked at her as his face turned red. "Look, Luna, things are going to get tougher for us, not just as friends but with the fact we both love each other and know that we can never be a couple with each other." Lovell looked over the gardens below. "Besides, this is only the beginning, not the middle or the end. We need to find the last of the Ren-Ky jewels and train to use them properly if we have any chance of succeeding in freeing the world from my grandfather."

Luna's eyes darkened as she looked at her hands. "You know you might have to kill him just to save our world, right?"

Lovell closed his eyes. The thought of kill drugged up bad memories. "I know, but sometimes things we know are the right thing are the hardest to achieve." Luna placed her hand in his as they leaned into each other.

Ark coughed as they pulled away in a panic. "Well, you two seem to be more than I thought?" Lovell turned beet red as Luna turned away, covering her mouth. "Anyway, I talked to Orville, and he is lending us some of his griffons to reach the others."

Lovell turned to Ark, "Th-thanks Ark."

Ark sighed as he dragged Lovell off. "I think you two should be separated, come on we need to talk." Luan watched as Lovell struggled to get free from Ark's grip. She laughed as she turned to look at the sky once more.

Lovell managed to free himself from Ark, as Ark pinned him to a wall. "Now, tell me what you know or your heritage? Seeing is that Fang filled me in on most of it?"

Lovell couldn't look Ark in the eye, "I know that I'm the Faremin prince and that Demora is my grandfather."

Ark pulled away from him, rubbing his head. "Did you meet him?" Lovell nodded as Ark could see Lovell was distraught by what he found out. "I'm sorry I never told you the truth about your father, but to me, Terrance died when Azoth took over."

Lovell turned to Ark, "Terrance is still here, just hiding while he and some others are giving info to a resistance group from within."

Ark perked up at him, "Are you sure?"

Lovell nodded, "I'm sure, a friend from the inside told me, and that he and Terrance are trying to free Hunter." Ark stared at him, feeling that Lovell would not accept Hunter as he closed his eyes. "But the Hunter who killed Morris is not the same anymore. He's not a mindless clone of me but a person I would call family if he just left and found his way to us."

Ark looked into Lovell's eyes, seeing that he had excepted Hunter as a brother already. "Lovell I—"

Lovell cut him off. "I know that it seems like I'm rushing it, but after seeing him again after all these years I think I should give him a chance, even if he is still part of the Faremin forces but once he leaves that is when things will really change for mine and his relationship. I want him to know I forgive him and that I want him to know he is already family no matter the past bloodshed."

Ark could only watch as he saw how much Lovell matured before his eyes. Ark smiled as he released Lovell from the wall. "You have changed since we last saw each other; you're more mature compared to the scared kid that left us only a short while ago." Lovell smiled at Ark as he left. "you're more like a son to me than all the others were." Lovell missed what he said as he walked away into the crowd.
