Almost instantly, they stopped talking which prompted Mayu and behold his countenance once more. It felt as though years had past since she last saw him. It looks like the guy felt remorse for what happened. She also stopped chatting away and quickly finished her meal before she walked upstairs so the guy can have a peaceful dinner as well. I'll eat again later, she thought.
Her body is not feeling well today so she just turned her phone on and covered her ears with a headset and blasted herself with some rock music while she tried to block her mind of any thoughts. She needs new ideas right now and they're not coming so she has to find a way.
Instead of ideas, her mind kept on drifting on Chryxso's story. Poor guy, he's got it all but her. And why are there people that use other people's emotions to their own benefits? And why are there people who keeps on looking into other people's lives as if they can help? She snooted when her conscience started to nag her. I just want to help. He's my patient and it's for his welfare. Yeah, as if there's logic there.
She's still lost in her daydream so she did not notice the door of her room flew open as old Naning rushed to her with worry on her face as she tried to shake her awake.
"What. Is. Going. On?" she moved her gaze from the old lady who caged her in her embrace to the anxious face of Chryxso while he's still holding onto the door frame. He's panting for air and his cheeks flushing. She put her headphones down.
"Are you okay, Young Miss?" old Naning caressed her face and settled on her forehead, checking to see if she has fever or not.
"I'm not feverish really. I'm just listening to some rock music on my headphones." she also touched her forehead to make sure she's not having any fever.
"Maybe I'm just tired. And I'm still kicking, " she managed to smile.
"I was knocking," they turned when Chryxso spoke, his face flushing in annoyance. He's struggling to get inside and managed to grab a chair but because of his tall frame, he look awkward leaning on a chair for support.
"Do you need anything?" he was taken aback, surprised when she asked. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He turned on his heel, walked out of her room and entered his own room. Mayu was at a lost for words. She turned to old Naning and asked.
"Did anything happen old Naning?" the old lady smiled.
"I think he has something to tell you, Young Miss." Is he gonna apologize to me? Nah, he's too proud to do that, she thought.
"Really? Is he gonna confess his undying love for me now?" she laughed at her gag.
"You can go to his room, Young Miss. He was worried when you did not open to his knock and more so when he started to pounce on your door." Hmm, interesting. She got up from her bed and stood up.
"Okay, I'll go speak with him. But before that..."
"What now?" Chryxso bellowed as he turned towards the door of his room when he heard it open. She did not bother knocking when she entered and carried with her a tray of food.
"Let's eat." she said and slouched on the floor. He got up and sat on the side of his bed.
"When will you ever learn how to knock? You'll get everyone a lot of headache here even before your vacation ends." Oh, I didn't get kick out? Is he trying to be tolerable of me now?
"Isn't it great? I'm leaving an impression."
"Huh? Is your brother already married?" she furrowed her eyebrows and sat straight. What do you care?
"Why do you ask?"
"I just pity the guy. If he's been taking care of you all this time, he will grow old and won't even get married. Poor thing."
"That's very rude of you to say. Try to say something decent instead."
"Excuse me. I did not take off my clothes."
"That's lewd," she nonchalantly replied. She stopped chewing briefly and roared.
"You're lewd!" he just laughed at her. Looks like the guy's in a good mood to tolerate her up to this point.
"Stop laughing. You're still indebted to me!" he stopped laughing, obviously struck by what she said. She harbored no hard feelings on what happened but her big mouth is just spectacular.
"I'm sorry." It was nothing special but he sounded sincere.
"Forgiven." told you, she forgives easily.
"How could you do that?" she heard him ask.
"What do you mean? I'm not allowed to survive? You're really getting meaner you know. I've definitely forgiven you already but I think it's still cruel if you ask me why I should not have died."
"That's not what I mean, silly."
"Ah, well. I don't remember doing anything since I'm not the one that tended to my wounds."
"You have a hyperactive imagination. What I means is...how could you easily forgive me? I could've killed you, you know."
"I know."
"Why are you not mad at me? I know you have a fault, well obviously, but still..."
"Let's just say I'm someone that does not hold grudges. And I find happiness in almost everything."
"But-"
"Hey. Stop it! I'm trying to eat peacefully in here." she tried to brush the incident as a trivial matter instead to lighten the mood.
"And who told you to eat here? In my room?" he mocked but sounded indulgent.
"You have a good conditioning system on your room," she answered. She happily drenched the blanched cabbage on a container that has sliced tomatoes and fish sauce on it.
"You'll get my room stinking with that. Get out!" She huffed and puffed before she grabbed her tray of food and stood up.
"You're being selfish with your air. If I become rich, I'll slap you with many conditioning systems!"
"News flash lady, all the rooms here have a conditioning unit." he's back to his mean self again. Thank goodness he didn't sulk.
"Why don't I have one on my room? And did you just call me a lady?"
"Stop dreaming kid. It may not have been opened. You can manually operate it unless..."
"I don't know how to do it." You don't have to waive my ignorance in my face! I'll just admit to it.
"Just ask one of the maids and they'll assist you."
"I don't want to. It's too embarrassing." he smack his forehead.
"You're suddenly embarrassed? You have that in your bone?"
"Yeah, I have some shame. Tucked underneath my shamelessness." she put the tray down and latched onto his arm. His face contorted more.
"Is that fish sauce?"
"Do you want to have some? I blanched some cabba-"
"Geez. Why did you bring that here? And you even hold onto me! Get away will you." he tried to pry her away from her grasp.
"You're so picky." she glared at him before she grabbed her tray of food and marched out of his room. I can't believe I tried to talk to him. Can we go back to non-speaking terms again?
"Where do you think you're going?" she turned back to him, her glare with daggers now. Seriously!
"I'm going out. Did you forget that you just sent me away? I'm not so thick-faced as to stay after you criticize my food."
"Well what about about me?" he helplessly asked. She blinked, what about you?
