To proove her assumptions wrong. He's indeed at the top floor, supervising his office renovation.
"I won't ask you to haul this mouse anymore, Glenn." the young father just sighed in relief.
"That's right, because he's gonna help me drag you back home," she replied and hooked her hands to his arm.
"What are you doing? Get away from me!" the workers laughed when they saw them.
"You can just work at home. You may be at risk here."
"I'm not a baby! And I don't get lost like you do so will you please get your hands off me!"
"My wife also acted that way when she got pregnant. Don't make her worry too much sir, she might miscarry." They both had their eyes widened when one of the workers told Chryxso off. Glenn chuckled with the turn events unfolding on his very eyes.
"We did not know that our boss is now a daddy-to-be. Sir, you need to take more care of yourself so you can take care of your wife and baby." the crowd applauded. She heard a couple of them murmur to each other while some took their phones out and captured photos of them.
"We did not know that President Aresta has already tied the knot Ma'am. You're really beautiful." they exclaimed.
"Thank you but I think I'm just cute," she answered while still holding on to his arm.
"I. Am. Not. Married. To. This. Brat." he roared.
"Oh? So when are you planning to get married sir? You need to hurry before someone takes her away," they continued their chatter, unaware of his growing annoyance. Let's put more fuel to that, she smiled mischievously to herself.
"I'm not really sure why you're embarrassed to be with me. You're hurting my feelings Babe," She heard Glenn chortle heartily. She glared at him, you act accordingly.
"And Glenn, my friend, why are you teaming up with him against me?" she acted like she's about to cry which got the people chattering again.
Chryxso seemed to notice what she's trying to do so he forcefully grabbed her and dragged her to the bathroom. She suddenly felt a quiver of fear.
"Babe, do you need to pee? I can't follow you there, that's a guy's business. We'll have to get married first," the office is once more filled with laughter.
"What are you blabbering about? You're going home! Glenn, take this brat out of here!"
"I told you I'm no longer a kid!" she tried her best to tug him out of the restroom and the office as well. I'll win this tug-of-war.
"Take your hands off me!"
"No! We're going home now. Grandpa told me to look after you so whether you like it or not, we are going back home." she saw him clench his teeth as the employees just stare at them wrestling.
"It's alright sir. We're just okay here. We'll just have Ellaine come over if needed." she felt her ear grew larger when she heard one of the employees speak.
"Ellaine?" the employees took a turn looking at each other with guilt in their eyes, not sure whether they should speak or not.
"I think I saw her yesterday. Nice lady, very accommodating," they're still gaping at her. Uh-oh, it looks like their relationship is more than employer-employee. Aww, did I suddenly become a villaine on their love story? She tried to get away from this sticky situation when she heard footsteps nearing them. She knotted her foreheard, ready to fight back at the guy but the pale face of the woman she saw before welcomed her.
"Uh-" they were both out of words. Whew, what should I say?
"Good morning ma'am, sir." she greeted warmly. she glanced at the guy who looked stricken as well. She breathed a sigh before she gathered her voice to speak. Chryxso interrupted her before she could even utter a word.
"Let's go home. Glenn," he called his driver away to guide him towards the elevator. He slightly turned his head when the elevator door opened.
"I thought we're going home?" he asked at her stunned self. She's still unsure what's going on but did manage to get herself out of her inattention when he called out to her. Oh, at least I got him to go home, she thought.
"Oh! Yeah, bye everyone! It's nice meeting you all!" she felt her cheeks blush in shame when she glanced back at the woman again. She's really beautiful, they'll make a good couple. And I'll be the one causing them to break up, bad me. She gasped, she's probably the reason why he's still insisting to go to work. Aw, I'm a really bad person.
"Ah Chry-" she stopped talking when she saw him close his eyes. They're both seated at the backseat, she's not sure if he's trying to sleep or he just closed his eyes so she did not try to bother him again.
The silence is extended even when they've already arrived home. It looks like Glenn has already briefed old Naning on what happened so she did not bother asking her anymore. She felt really down. She feels like one of the villains she watch on dramas. She pressed another button on the remote and rubbed her not really sleepy eyes. She can't focus on any show right now and just switched among the tv channels at random.
"That one has warranty," she turned to the voice-Chryxso's. He tried to feel the sofa's frame and sat beside her. She's currently channel shopping since apart from the fact that she's feeling really down from what she found out earlier, she's already feeling too much boredom as she's got nothing else to do. She settled for a cartoon channel instead.
"That's not a good show," she looked at him with irritation. He's looking towards the direction of the television as if he's also watching.
"Would you please mind your own business. I'm the one watching here, not you."
"I own that TV," she stomped her feet and shove the remote control to him.
"Fine. Here's your remote mister owner. Go ahead and eat your TV!" she heard him stiffle a laughter. She remembered what happened earlier today again and it made her mood go down again. She shifted and went back to him.
"Sorry about earlier today." he turned to her direction, amusement clearly visible on his eyes.
"This is a really weird day. You said sorry twice." She frown. It wouldn't hurt to be quiet for a bit you know, she complained in her mind.
"I'm a nice person. And I'm feeling guilty for what happened today. I'll just go back there to clarify the situation. You should have told me earlier, I did not know that you're in a relationship," she saw him clench his teeth again but he didn't say a word.
"It's fine. They'll eventually forget it,"
"What about Ellaine? She might misunderstand. I'd really feel guilty if you broke up because of m-"
"If you really wanna make it up to me-" he cut her and grinned. She looked at him and felt gross out by the look he's giving her. Was it me? No, definitely not. He's just a pervert!
"I will not have sex with you!" she immediately snapped.
"You're still dreaming about that kiddo? Anyway, if you really wanna make it up to me, my suggestion is you keep yourself away from me. Just enjoy your vacation and don't get your nose in my business ventures."
"I'm not putting my nose in your business, I don't even know how to run one. I'm just here to make sure that you rest per your grandfather's request."
"And I keep repeating myself that I don't need one."
"And so that you won't have to keep on repeating yourself, why don't you listen to me and take a rest. You know, until your grandpa arrives. So we'll both have some peace on this part of the world. Let's just endure each other's presence okay? I don't want to make an enemy while I'm on my vacation and especially not with the owner," hope I'm making some sense into you, she thought.
"Okay," she was taken aback when he responded.
"What?"
"I said okay," he said again. Was he really that easy to talk to?
"Uh-"
"Okay I'm not going to work. For now. But leave me alone okay."
"Nope. Your grandfather said I have to look after you." he sighed. He'll never win against this brat.
"Fine. But if you anything stupid again, I'll really kick you out."
"That's too harsh, you kick girls."
"Only if they're annoying." she gasped, her eyes wide in surprise.
"You really ki-"
"If they're annoying."
"..." Too stunned to talk, it took a while before she found her voice and spoke again.
"Am I annoying you?"
"What a good question. What do you think?" he's smiling now. He's in a good mood, that's a good start, she said to herself.
"I'm a really nice person. Are you feeling hungry. Would you like me to cook you food? Smoked fish?" he chuckled.
"What?"
"Nope, I already ate some this morning," he's trying to copy what she just replied to him this morning. She did not find him annoying this time.
"Okay. Why don't we instead talk about this controversial smoked fish." She tried to sound him out further. "So, why do you like it?"
