Chapter 12 - Jackpot!

March 17th 2010.

Jay woke up at 6am. He got out of bed and started doing push-ups and sit-ups alternatively in sets of 10. He did this for 30 minutes before jumping into the shower.

When he was done he put on a pair of black jeans, a white Irish wool sweater and a pair of dark brown leather boots. He grabbed the laptop the resort had landed him for the duration of his stay and made his way downstairs.

He first took his breakfast at the restaurant then went back to the east lounge where he settled on one of the angle couches. People rarely came by and the wifi reception was the strongest here.

He made sure the laptop battery's was on and plugged the charger in as a double insurance. He was all set.

Jay turned the laptop on and waited for it to load before opening a chrome webpage and typing in the following URL: [www.bitcoinmarkets.com]

He took a look at the computer's clock, it was 8am. He felt a little nervous to be honest, this was something he had wanted to do for a while when he'd realized that he had basically traveled back in time.

Bitcoin, the most popular cryptocurrency ever created, and today was the day of its "official" launch. It was also the day each coin had been valued at its lowest; 0.003$.

A pitiful 0,003$, and he was going to buy a whole 2100$ worth it; 700 000 coins in grand total.

If he dumped them all on December 15th 2017, he'd be a multi-billionaire.

Of course, he wouldn't do that or he'd probably crash the market.

He browsed a little on the web while he waited.

At 10am, there was still no signs of activity and he realized he had been too hasty. It was Zürich standard time right now, and any US timezones were at least 6 hours behind.

He sighed and decided to watch a movie in the meantime, and which one better to pass the time than The Lord of The Rings?

He ended up watching all 3 of the movies and spending his entire day in the lounge. When he was done, it's was past 9pm and still no signs of activity.

He chuckled wryly, it was really his miscalculation, he should've accounted for the time difference. He sighed and refreshed the webpage one last time, he'd just go to sleep and put an alarm to wake up later.

Just as he was about to stand up, his sight locked on the laptop's screen and he froze.

It was on! He wasted no time signing up, and directly cashed 2100$ worth of coins. He knew they would be scarce if he didn't do it now. He waited anxiously for the transaction to be confirmed, and when he received the notification, he started grinning from ear to ear.

He would never have to worry about money ever again. He grabbed his laptop and went back to his room, he was out as soon as his head hit the pillow.

When Jay woke up the next day, the first thing he did was to make sure last night wasn't a dream and that his bitcoins were still there, and he sighed in relief once he saw them.

He would transfer them to a bitcoin wallet next year but there shouldn't be a problem for now security wise.

Trezor, the most secure platform wouldn't be created until 2014 so he'd have to wait a while longer in order to put his precious coins under them.

As for future investments... First, Jay remembered two instances when bitcoins value had significantly dropped, and he thought he should take advantage of it. He would cash in on 100,000 coins on the 8th July 2011 when it had topped at 31$ per coin, effectively racking in 3.1 million dollars of which he would invest 2 millions in Snapchat.

Then he would buy those 100,000 back on December 2011 when its value dropped to 2$ per coin, he would only need 200,000$ to buy them back.

And the second time on November 17th 2013, were its value had topped at 1,252$, he would release 100,000 coins back to the market, this time getting a little more than 125 million dollars.

That would be all until he would slowly release all his stock from May 2017 to December 2017.

In the meantime, he would concentrate on his career, because although money was great, show-business to him was better and he had dreamed about becoming a world-renown entertainer since he'd been a teenager.
