Chapter 5 - THE VOICE TOLD ME TO KILL HIM

*Ding* *Dong*

The sound of the bell echoed throughout the school indicating the end of the day.

As Souma walked down the stairway, he looked around his surroundings. His eyes wandered from the abundance of students chatting alongside their friends to the simple yet clean design of the school itself. He closed his eyes for a moment trying to take in everything around him.

The day had been a long one but it was coming to a close. Souma wanted to stay in that calm and peaceful atmosphere; however, he knew that was not his place. His hands were stained. I'll have to stain them once more today, Souma thought. Souma opened the doors in front of him and walked out the main gates. A heavy gust of wind blew on him making it difficult to see. Once the wind faded, Souma was surrounded. Three people in all directions. A fourth person came through the front confronting Souma. It was Seiji.

"Come," Seiji said. "We have to talk about some things." Souma let out a sigh. He had already been worn out due to the earlier brawl from the cafeteria but even so, he complied with Seiji's order and followed. After some time passed, they entered an alleyway. There was to be a foul stench in the air. Clothes scattered. Trash everywhere.

"We're here. Bring him to me," Seiji ordered. One of his lackeys shoved Souma forward causing Souma to fall. "Shesh. I just bought this shirt. Why you gotta get it dirty like that," Souma said. As Souma brushed the dirt off his shirt, he asked casually, "So, what's up?"

"..."

Suddenly Seiji pulled Souma towards himself. Souma looked down at Seiji's right hand. Seiji was holding a knife. "You gonna do some knife tricks or something?" Souma asked jokingly. Seiji pulled the knife right in front of Souma's neck. "You need to understand the position you're in right now," Seiji said.

"Just one wrong move and I'll seriously kill you,"

"You know... this sounds really similar to our last encounter," Souma said. "Last time you ran away because you didn't have the guts to face me. So what's gonna happen this time? I'll answer that question for you. NOTHING."

*STAB*

"..."

"..."

Souma lowered his head to where the knife struck. Within moments, his strength weakened, his eyes wavering. Quickly, Souma placed his hand over his stomach in an attempt to prevent blood loss. I can't believe it, he thought, he seriously pulled it off.

*STAB!* *STAB!* *STAB!*

"AAAAAAAARRGGGG!!!" Souma yelled barely able to keep himself conscience while enduring the pain.

*STAB!* *STAB!* *STAB!*

Seiji had finally mustered up the courage to stand up to Souma. He was finally able to fight back. However, in the moment that his knife cut through another person's skin, he realized what it meant to truly have the power to kill someone. That first strike is all it took to make him lose control. But what lead to this outburst? It just doesn't make sense. Was it due to Seiji's toward Souma? Hatred? No. That's not it. Was is because of the words Souma told Seiji during their first encounter? Was it because Seiji was scared of Souma? Scared? No, that's not it either. Seiji knew that there was something different about Souma when they first met. The bloodlust that he felt that day was something that made his hairs rise. But, none of this was enough to justify his sudden outburst. Something else was urging Seiji.

It was the voice. The voice inside Seiji's head. "Kill him," the voice said. "KILL HIM!!!"

*STAB!* *STAB!* *STAB!*

------------------------------------------

Finally, after a period of time, Seiji came back to his sense. Breathing heavily, arms trembling, Seiji looked down at Souma. Souma was currently on his knees. Souma's clothing was completely torn. He looked as if he had taken a bloodbath. A disgusting sight. Seiji was horrified by what he had done. He wanted revenge but he only brought the knife as a threat. He never intended to go his far. But the voice... the voice made his mind go blank. It made him into something that wasn't human. Into something that would commit inhumane acts. But the day wasn't over. It was only beginning.
