Chereads / His Jade Rabbit / Chapter 27 - ShenSheng

Chapter 27 - ShenSheng

It might be because the place was empty but she had not at all been bothered by the employees and was even polite and sincere with customers. Zhi Ruo felt very proud of this because the original manager of this restaurant was her, back when she was still in university.

Despite having to juggle both work and school, Zhi Ruo graduated with flying colors. This did not come as a shock to others because they had always known Zhi Ruo to be a diligent and hardworking student.

Walking towards the back of the restaurant, she sat beside a grand window view and began to order for herself. She strayed away from any food that involved milk and ordered a her favorite dish. It was a pity that she was unable to eat ice cream because of her stomach.

After the food had arrived, Zhi Ruo did not forget to text her cousin to handle all the documents in the company and took a leave of absence for an indefinite amount of time. Hearing this, Zhi Biming resisted the urge to cry. He did not expect his idol cousin to push all the work to him, leaving him to fend for himself. But at the same time he felt a bit happy that his cousin was trusting him with the job, even if Zhi Ruo did not really work anymore at the company.

Zhi Ruo did not pay attention to anything anymore but stuffed herself full. Her mind had strayed away from thoughts of Mo Chou. She did not want to bother herself with him anymore.

However, she knew deep inside that it was impossible! How could she, a woman who read novels and comics till she dropped not know what happens in her situation? What would likely happen was that Mo Chou would kept pestering her until she forgave him and possibly continue to haunt her till he got what he wanted.

She had just gotten her freedom! And now it was going to be ruined by a man who won't stop until he attains her forgiveness. Zhi Ruo could not help but shiver a little in fear. She did not want to pursue a romantic relationship right now.

...

Mo Chou had been depressed since last night. His thoughts kept wandering and the guests have noticed it. Probably because of his influence on them, several important figures told him to rest and gave him their calling cards before they left.

The party had ended with warm regards and best wishes, partly thanks to Mo Yan's perfect display of charisma. She neither said anything offensive nor disappointing as she ended the party with a smile. This just proved that it was only a matter of time before Hua Conglomerate rises to the top. This will not be limited to only infrastructure but also through other industries.

Mo Chou's original plan was to ascend to the top five companies in China before courting Zhi Ruo, however his patience has dwindled due to hearing almost no news about her. Even contacting the people who knew her did not have any clues of her whereabouts.

Besides, only a handful of people know Zhi Ruo's true identity. Mo Chou had known beforehand her situation, which helped him track her down after she suddenly disappeared. Unfortunately, 5 years ago he lost track of her and disappointingly went back to his company to handle all of the workload.

"Brother, you're distracted yet again. What, still can't get over your blunder last night?" Mo Yan strode in his lifeless apartment and pulled back the curtains.

"Your apartment is so dull and lifeless. Also, it's dark in here. Are you an emo? This is unbecoming of a CEO," Mo Yan teased as she put down a brown paper bag in front of him.

Mo Chou's frown deepened. "What are you here for?"

"I'm obviously here to bring breakfast to my beloved little brother." Mo Yan sat down opposite him and smiled.

Mo Yan had always been considered as the more favored person by their relatives. Unlike him who more often came across as gloomy and unsociable, Mo Yan was charismatic and eloquent, which the people found more likeable.

She was also the vice president of the company. And although their main purpose was still the infrastructure business, she had secretly ventured to other industries and invested a portion of their funds to other companies. This increased their stocks by tenfold, earning the awe of many businesses around them.

"And?" Mo Chou hesitantly opened the brown paper bag and pulled out a piece of xiao long bao. He munched on the xiao long bo quietly as he stared at his sister.

It was obvious that Mo Yan was here for another reason, and Mo Chou had a guess that it may concern the event that transpired last night.

"You got me," she put her hands up in surrender. "Since you failed to reconcile with her, you might have just destroyed your chances of ever being friends with the woman. But don't worry, big sister is here to help you get through this."

Mo Chou figured things out since last night. It had been true that his ambition had become non-existent. His dream of ascending the apex of the business world had been diminished and replaced by thoughts of her.

Anyone else might find it romantic but Zhi Ruo was different. She was a girl who rose from being a poor commoner with a huge debt to a billionaire with tons of assets and connections that could stretch all around the world. She always held other people's best interest, which was why she was so angry when she found out Mo Chou was abandoning his post just to pursue her.

This idea of his was really childish and stupid. He got too caught up in the moment and felt like an idiot. If Zhi Ruo was here right now, she would've slapped him till he regained his right mind.

"Go on..." Mo Chou muttered as he finished the xiao long bao in his hands.

Hearing his confirmation, Mo Yan's eyes sparkled and she jumped to her feet. "Great! This is great news! You finally accept my help after a decade of stubbornness. This is something we must celebrate. Come on, I know just the place."

Mo Yan gestured for Mo Chou to clean up and dress simple before they went out in disguises. They were no longer commoners who could freely walk the streets instead, they had to be careful not to attract the attention of the paparazzi. Especially now that their banquet had just ended.

They prepared to set off to ShenSheng Restaurant, the only restaurant by the river that separated City A from the Capital.

Arriving at the scene, their presence attracted the attention of several bystanders who had been unknowingly drawn in because of their strong presence. Sure enough, these people were different from them.
