Chapter 4 - Wings

[User has learned Jorin, 10 skill points earned]

[User has learned Dunari, 10 skill points earned]

Saul was exhausted, he had to learn Jorin and Dunari. Just learning Jorin was exhausting he thought that his system was a cheat. But he still had to rely on himself to do anything.

He planned to go and find a gym. His body could not take the stress of learning martial arts. He would go and unlock his nanobots to improve the state of his body.

The drug solution he had bought for recovering torn muscle tissue was quite effective. He had run out exactly after learning Dunari. He decided that for now since he did not have any money to unlock his nanobots. He would ask his mother personally.

Grabbing his com, he called his mother. Asking her to buy the drug to unlock his nanobots. She agreed quickly without much hesitation, after all.

Many people got their nanobots unlocked. It gave them super strength an increase in eyesight. And many more quirks, it was just a matter of time before he would ask to unlock his nanobots.

It did not take long before the delivery man came with the drug. Sitting down on the living room couch. He read the instruction manual before pulling out the syringe full of the drug.

He injected himself before lying down face up. He started to feel drowsy and his vision started to fade, then he blacked out.

Saul gaining conscious opened his eyes. He knew that his nanobots should have been unlocked now. Hopping to his feet, he shot up almost reaching the ceiling. He landed awkwardly but without any pain.

He could feel almost weightless as he was standing on the floor. And this was just a level one, nanobot unlocked state. Humanity's research on nanobots has allowed humanity to be able to unlock their nanobots 9 times.

Civilians and even aristocrats families were only allowed to unlock their nanobots to level 4. Level 5 nanobots and above, was only permitted to the military and its soldiers. And even then was strictly monitored.

According to research unlocking your nanobots would give you thrice a man's strength. The average person could lift 70 kilograms. But unlocking the nanobots gave you 211 kilograms worth of strength.

Of course, the amount of that power you could use depends on your fighting technique. But still, this allowed a normal person to be able to compare to athletes.

They may not be able to compare to the strongest man on earth. 506 kilograms strength but this was just the first level of unlocking. The second level of unlocking was even crazier.

He could now run the hundred meter in 12 seconds. And he could see 20/20 but the cracks on the floor and engraving on the wood tables. Were as clear as day to him.

He was already comparable to a world-class athlete on earth. But even so, he still could not use his full ability he still had to get used to his strength. And it would take a couple of days.

The best way to get used to his strength was practicing martial arts and that's what he planned to do for now.

************************

It had already been a couple of days. And the hospital had called him, to come for his appointment. They told they would be using some new technology and would not know what would happen to him.

So they made him sign some document to make sure no one could sue them if anything went wrong.

When he got to the hospital he was quite impressed. Before he did not have the chance to admire how high tech this place was. But looking at it now, it was quite exciting.

The reception was quite warm, and they even had a hot nurse accompany him to his operating room.

Waiting for a while someone finally walked in. When he turned around to look at who it was. His breath was stolen away.

She was almost as tall as him with a sharp nose. She had defined cheekbones and her eyes were of the loveliest shade of blue he had ever seen.

"Done gawking at me yet?"

Saul quickly stopped looking at her. He probably looked pretty rude, looking at her like that.

"Sorry," he replied sincerely. "No problem, I get that a lot around here. At least you did not look at me like a pervert."

"My name is Dr.Ambrosia and I will be in charge of your operation this fine morning."

"We will be using nanobots implanted with bat genes to awaken the wing genes in your body."

"As you know, we humans have a bunch of dormant genes in our DNA. This new technology that we are using lets us send the nanobots with bat DNA, to scan your entire genome.

Instead of just looking for any genes that allow the wings to grow. So we don't know if you will gain anything extra so let us hope nothing goes wrong."

"We will give you a drug to make you sleep before injecting the nanobots into your body. It should not be painful."

"Oh, thank goodness," Saul was quite nervous before. He was sprouting wing. He thought the pain from something ripping through your back muscle should be painful.

The pretty doctor smiled before continuing. "The injection should not be painful. But sprouting your wing will make you regret ever being born. At that time we will give you some pills for the pain."

Saul sweat immediately dropped, this kind looking doctor had such a black heart.

"The size and length of your wing depend on what your genes and body allow. That should be all and if I am right, you have already signed all legalities."

"Yes," he replied meekly. He really was not looking forward to the pain of sprouting his wings.

"Well, let's get started then."

Dr.Ambrosia went back outside to call all the nurses. When they came in, they quickly and neatly administered the sleeping drug. His vision started to fade out but before he blacked out.

The last thing he heard was, Dr.Ambrosia say. "You're okay just relax, you're in good hands."
