Chapter 16 - Prayers at the Temple

The next morning had arrived. Birds were chirping and you could smell the spring in the air. Li-Lian had decided to go pray at a temple for the sake of her baby. the future crown prince or princess. Lian had gotten dressed in her beautiful silk gown with blue butterflies embroidered on the bottom of her legs.

"Mo-Chou, do not forget to bring the basket of fruits for the ride" Lian said while looking, putting her earrings on which were also blue butterflies.

"Yes, miss" Mo-Chou said while bringing the snack basket to the table where her miss was now residing, drinking tea elegantly and refined.

"Miss, it's time to get on the carriages" Mo-Chou said as she was grabbing the snack basket that was for her miss.

"Yes, it is time for us to go...but Mo-Chou don't you feel like something is wrong?" Lian said while looking at mo-Chou like she had a question no-one would be able to figure it out.

"What do you mean miss?" Mo-Chou said while tilting her head slightly from the shock of asking such an obvious question. Of course she's safe because she's the most powerful and prettiest person I know, mo chou was thinking while she escorted her miss to the carriages safely.

Lian and Mo-chou had gotten onto their carriage when they saw another carriage going towards them. Lian thought to herself that it might be Su-jin or Xuan- Nu in the carriage. Lian's face was hardening every moment she was looking at the carriage.

"That was the reason for my uneasiness" Lian said while handling a suspicious object to mo-chou, who expertly took it and had hidden it. Lian sighed and started a conversation with mo-chou to keep the boredom out of their minds.

A few hours had passed while they were riding in the carriages. The temple which was well-known for their accuracy and lineage. The temple was no stranger to the imperial family, especially emperors and empresses. Lian had gotten out of her carriage and was on the way to greet the head monk when the carriage's door behind them flew open and Su-jin had come out and was greeting the head monk when she fell because her dress got caught on the bottom of her shoe.

"Mo-Chou send some maids and guards to help consort Su-Jin from embarrassing herself more"Lian said while holding her head as a sudden headache had rushed over her all of a sudden.

"Yes, miss" Mo-Chou said while motioning guards to go help consort Su-Jin and to escort her to her room.

After Mo-Chou motioned the guards to help Su-Jin. Lian went up to the head monk and apologized. Lian also asked if they can have their meals served to their rooms so they can be more comfortable. Lian later retired to her room before going to the shrine to pray for her baby.

"Mo-Chou, let's get ready to go pray at the shrine. Could you grab my scent pouch for me" Lian said while sipping tea and eating tanghulu as a snack. lian had dropped her tanghulu and it fell in front of two black leather shoes.

Mo-chou happily agreed and hurried off to grab Li-lian's scent pouch.

"Mo-Chou..Mo-Ch-"Lian said before someone knocked her out with their magic. while Lian was being kidnapped her lily of the valley flower earring had fallen off while she was fighting back with her strength because the temple had been kept peaceful so they had nulling magic over the temple. The only thing Lian kept thinking about were her baby and how the kidnapper was able to use magic and complicated magic at that while she drifted off into the abyss of darkness.

The figure wearing all black carrying Li-lian over his right shoulder was walking along a path in the forest that was hidden because it was banned from entering since the head monk sent his youngest mentee to cultivate in the mountains for a different view. Also the forest was dense in different herbs, especially mushrooms which were hard to find, especially shauntrice mushroom which helped multiple high ranking cultivators reach levels most cultivators take years to achieve. The figure was walking stealthy when he made a right, venturing off the overgrown forest path. He stopped when he looked down and saw a bright red mushroom. He picked the mushroom with his hands, he placed Li-lian down on the grass as he crushed the bright red mushroom, it's called gustrabin. Many people used gustrabin for writing ink, the bright red ink other property was drying fast, which was another reason it was used for writing ink. The figure took out a silver cylinder lily-pad engraving and unrolled it. The cylinder pulled into a tiny piece of paper, used for giving messages with the help of birds. He reached down and grabbed a small slender piece of wood, he proceeded to bite on just one end of the stick until it was shredded and usable to be used as an on-the-go pen. He dipped the stick in the pile of liquid red shauntrice to write a message on the paper saying,

"The job is complete, I have the target. Be in the meeting place as we agreed on -S.Y."

It was not even three minutes before the red ink dried, he rolled the message back into the lilypad engraved cylinder. He threw the slender bitten stick through some trees to his left, while whistling in the air. Before he could finish a charcoal-brown colored bird flew down onto his left shoulder. The figure tied the silver cylinder lilypad engraved container with some string he took out from his pocket. He took the bird from his left shoulder to throw the bird into the air, giving the bird enough flight to fly to his target.

The figure brushed off his black leather pants and shirt, he put his hood on to cover his face. He walked over to where Li-lian was laying on the ground, he picked her up into a cradle instead of over his shoulder to avoid suspicion, if anyone else was out in those woods. He didn't want to chance the mission being cut short when he just sent word that he completed the mission to his boss. He continued to walk along the grassy overgrown path with Li-lian's face sneakily hidden within his chest, her face mostly covered by his black leather shirt and the little robe which his hood was sewed on.
