Chereads / The Mage Poe / Chapter 2 - Revenge of the fluffy rabbit

Chapter 2 - Revenge of the fluffy rabbit

Poe walked around the barren lands, hunting the fluffy rabbits. Having already brutally murdered more than 10 fluffy rabbits, Poe looked behind himself in confusion, a weird dust cloud had formed and for some reason it kept coming closer and closer.

Not thinking much more about the weird dust cloud growing closer and closer behind him anymore, Poe continued his journey towards the towering mountains in the distance. The terrain was starting to look more and more desolate the closer to the mountains he got, at the same time cracks in the ground started show up here and there along the side of the road.

Finally, after another few hours of walking, Poe arrived at the mountains or more like the foot of the mountains.

looking at the mountain in front of him, Poe could see that there were caves everywhere leading into the mountains with signs plastered all over them saying [WARNING DUNGEON AHEAD]. A few of the cracks in the ground also had similar signs around them now. Maybe the cracks in the ground was also a part of the dungeon?

After looking around the place for a bit longer, Poe finally found out that he was standing in the middle of what looked like some sort of old ruin. Looking around himself, Poe concluded that there most likely was a town here in the past and that the dungeons here were probably what kept the town running. After all, from what Poe had once read, there were towns know as dungeon towns or city's if they became that big. These place exploited the dungeons for their resources and relied entirely on the dungeons they were placed around.

The town looked more like it was left instead of destroyed, as he could not see any skeletons around. In addition, from Poe's knowledge the dungeon still looked fine, so something must have caused people to abandon the town.

Maybe it had something to do with the barren land around the mountains?

Poe turned around to look at the desolate and barren background behind him hoping to understand what had happened to the surroundings.

Sadly, all Poe could see was a big white fluffy ball of cuteness blocking his vision. Blanking out at the weird ball of cuteness that suddenly appeared in front of him, Poe had no clue how he should react and before Poe managed to think of anything else, he got hit in the stomach by the white fluff ball. Losing his footing, Poe staggered backwards and with his fantastic luck, an opening to one of the cracks in the ground with a [WARNING DUNGEON AHEAD] sign was behind him.

Falling down the crack in the ground, the white fluff ball jumping into him fell towards the crack in the ground as well, Poe reacted quickly when he felt himself falling towards the ground and quickly switched position with the white fluff ball, positioning the white fluff ball directly beneath him.

Crashing towards the darkness below, Poe started to feel a little bored and wondered how long it would take to hit the ground. After falling for few seconds longer, Poe Felt a sudden pain and heard a notification, passing out afterwards.

Laying on the ground for what seemed like hours, Poe woke up feeling pain all over his body. Looking around himself, he saw the culprit, or what is left of it at least.

A piece of meat was laying neatly on the ground, but not just any meat FLUFFY RABBIT meat. Seething with anger against the fluffy rabbits who got him into this situation, Poe just sat there for a few minutes until he managed to calm down again.

Finally having calmed down, Poe started to take in the surroundings. Cave walls, a few more cave walls and finally, a cave celling with a little water dripping down from it. Sighing inwardly, Poe looked towards the hole in the celling which he fell down from. It was dark, so it was most likely night outside meaning he had been sleeping for a few hours.

Pouting angrily, Poe grabbed the raw fluffy rabbit meat on the ground and bit down on it. Although it was not cooked, it still had the weird sweet flavor to it. Like biting down on an apple, just a little rougher and more meaty. Does different fluffy rabbit meat taste different?

After finishing the fluffy rabbit meat, Poe turned his attention towards the notifications he got earlier.

Apologizing to the fluffy rabbit in his belly about his earlier rudeness, Poe got up on his feet and set his stat points into WIS and INT. Looking at his status screen, Poe could not help, but feel a little moved. The more WIS and INT he got, the stronger he was as a mage.

After looking at it for a moment, Poe returned to reality. Remembering what the starting quote from his favorite book [Mages are better then everything] was: "Young one who reads these wise words of mine. Mages are the best, strongest and coolest! Why, well simple. They can control mana to do their bidding. Be it burning down a city or strengthening your body. Normally 'mages' use their precious stat points on things like vitality, because their health is too low or maybe agility, because they are too slow, but this is wrong! Using magic, WE, MAGES, don't need theses stats! Young one, if you want to be a mage, only focus on raising intelligence and wisdom! This is the path of a true mage!"

These words inspired the young Poe to strive towards becoming a mage, to become a real mage, even if he had not started and had not learnt any magic yet, he still wanted to become a real mage, even if he could not use magic for now, he would still become the greatest mage ever in the future.

Looking around himself Poe found his trusty stick in a corner of the cave. Picking it up, Poe felt power rush through his body, ready to face whatever the world decided to throw at him.

"Growl"

Hearing what sounded like a beast, letting out what seemed to be an angry growl, Poe suddenly felt a slight chill crawling up his spine. Looking at the dog behind him, Poe really wanted to take back the 'face whatever the world throws at him'.

[lvl 4, wild dog]

The wild dog was quite big, it looked hungry on top of that, and to make things better, there was top quality elf steak, just in front of its nose. What a lucky day the dog thought to itself as it slowly started making it's way towards the cute little elf in front of it.

This was definitely not a good day, Poe thought to himself, as quickly readied his trusty stick.
