Chapter 33 - Trust Me

Naturally, no one but the stupid warrior and her husband to be could hear her, in this country it was obvious that women had more leeway and power was given by strength and not political backing so even though she had no actual strength she could buy some time by acting strong. As for how she would get strong, she had no idea, she didn't like the idea of having to train in martial arts as she was a rather lazy teen in her last life so the idea of 'hard work' was a taboo. Besides she clung onto a rather large thigh so why did she have to put in more effort?

She just wanted to live her life peacefully.

Liu Ji Lian held back her laughter as she saw the look of anger in his eyes, she smirked and leaned her head on Wang ye yawning a little as if she was sleepy. Tonight was truly beautiful, despite the murmurs and rumors she was sitting next to the second person in the world who had made her feel so free.

Second?

She paused for a second, why did she say second? Who was the first? She really couldn't remember, her eyes suddenly widened as she sucked in her breath when she noticed a man squatting on the table staring at her. Time seemed to have frozen as everyone stood still and didn't seem to notice the young man with long blonde hair that looked right at her with his piercing red? eyes. His eyes were covered by his bangs but a sad smile was plastered on his face.

"Has your soul really left you Lian me ?"

She couldn't speak, if she could she would have bombarded him with questions with one of them being how exactly did he get here? Seeing she wasn't replying he only smiled sadly, "you have to leave this place, if you stay any longer you will surely die."

And as quickly as he appeared he disappeared and the flow of time resumed as normal. She sharply raised her head from Mu Chen's shoulders and noticed she was covered in cold sweat.

"Are you ok?" He whispered in her ear, turning to him she remembered what the man had told her and she gripped his hand and replied.

"I need to pee..."

He only smiled this time as he forced back his laughter making her blush slightly.

"Would you like me to accompany you?" She nodded cutely and he stood up excusing himself and left her out of the palace.

As soon as they were far enough she quickly stopped him. "Wang ye we have to leave now." He looked at her confused, she seemed slightly hysterical.

"What's wrong?"

Before she could explain a sharp scream came from the courtroom and everything descended into chaos, Liu Ji Lian didn't wait for confirmation, everyone inside that hall was destined to die. Grabbing Mu Chen she fled to where she expected the soldier's horses to be kept and My Chen followed her.

"What's happening?" He asked as he helped her mount a horse.

"I don't know but we have to leave this city!" Turning to her love she said in a much more gentler tone "please.. just trust me.."

With that he didn't ask any more questions but he had concluded that this was an attack that his country would not be able to defend against, such a mighty empire was going to fall so easily, what a shame.

As guards rushed to the courtyard trying to save the emperor they fled the city she had just arrived in. She didn't know what was going on or why the western man from the cave had decided to warn her about it but she knew once they turned their back to the palace they would no longer be welcomed.

He was willingly following her, surely jeopardizing his future in the city he grew up in, this was almost as bad as giving up his noble status for her.

The horses galloped steady and she held on for dear life as she noticed how the city was in chaos, men in odd armor raided the city killing everyone in sight. Luckily hardly any of them had horses or were foolish enough to get in their way.

More than likely those who did we're stationed at the palace or at the gate in case anyone tried to escape.

She grit her teeth before Nagini slithered out and she threw up at the guards the gates. The closer she got the more she saw the horses freak out before dropping dead, smiling in relief she quickly scared away the guards whose horses had been poisoned. Then she tore a cloth and lowered it down for her snake to slither up.

Mu Chen was astonished but decided to ask questions only after they were out of harm's way.

"Wang ye, I haven't traveled as much as you, so I'll have to leave our escape to you," she said as her Adrenaline began to lose effect.

He only nodded before holding his glance at her...

"...I really didn't make the wrong choice of falling in love with you."
