Scarlet followed his instructions and noticed a dark purple glow emit from her arm that seemed to gain shape. It looked vaguely like a snake that curled around her fingers smoothly. The snake condensed and looked more lifelike as Scarlet fed more mana towards her hand. She pointed her hand at the cage of bones and the snake flew towards the cage of bones. The purple magic snake rapidly grew longer, with its glow growing fainter, and curled around all the bars of Des' cage.
Des transformed into a raven and cackled, flying towards the snake. As soon as he touched a part of the snake, he turned into a dark mist that traveled along the snake towards Scarlet's palm.
As soon as he passed the cage of bones, he reemerged from the snake which evaporated and he laughed maniacally in his human form. "Free! Finally free! It's finally time to have some fun again!"
Scarlet waited for him to finish laughing before saying, "Now what?"
Des transformed back into a raven and ruffled his wings a bit, causing a feather to fall out. He held it with his claws and gave it to Scarlet's free hand. "Absorb this feather."
Scarlet rolled her eyes, "You never even told me how yet." She felt a bead of sweat start rolling down and she felt breathing to be increasingly difficult,
Des cawed, "Just tell your body to absorb it like telling your legs to move or something."
Scarlet absorbed the feather and felt knowledge flow through her head. Des remarked, "The knowledge in the feather I gave you should cover all the basics. You should know what to do. Try destroying the cage and absorbing some of the mana in it."
Out of the immense amount of knowledge, Scarlet quickly found out about the technique she needed. She drew more magic from her dragon earring and molded her death magic that came out into a semblance of a songbird. Death magic was versatile in that it could also create life out of its element. So, the songbird that Scarlet made was completely black with some streaks of purple on it. It did not seem like a mortal songbird but rather something ethereal that did not belong in this world.
The songbird seemingly sensed Scarlet's intentions and flew towards the cage, and it sang eerily. The cage of bones was slowly growing black as the songbird continued to sing, once it finished the bones were entirely black and the songbird's purple streaks grew more vivid and bright. It returned over to Scarlet's palm and merged back in. Scarlet felt that the magic from the bones she touched earlier were the same as the magic she had just reabsorbed.
Des smiled, "Good job. By the way, I don't recommend you try using the song of death again as it uses too much mana. After all, based on what you said, it seems that there is no more mana left on Trumoris."
Des suddenly said, "Oh right, contract! I forgot to mention that we're contracted now. After I cut your hand, I already used some of the blood to create a blood contract. If I break the blood contract there can be slight repercussions like dying and my soul being wiped out of existence etc. I also can't tell any lies to you and can't act against you. That's pretty much it."
Des started flying, "Follow me, we're leaving. It's time to go towards the leak of magic at Binglong's mouth.
