Aerwyna had heard of children who had considerable magic capacities; some of which set an entire block aflame or create whirlwinds on their first signs of magical ability but most of them were two or three years of age. The youngest age when nobles who had their magical awakening was one year of age. At such a time, however, these children would display minor feats like moving light objects without touching them or jumping three yards high.
One plausible conjecture to this was because of the pent-up magic of the child burst forth and produces considerable magic output. However, once they reached the age of four, the magic stress seemed to dwindle and those who awakened from four up to five seemed to have less magical prowess and ability than those who had awoken earlier which contradicted the theory.
The most incredible feat, however, was a 1-year-old baby crushing an iron bar. Magic capacity did not account for magic control, which was a whole different matter. Magic control accounted for the ability to manipulate the elements to such a degree with zero waste. This included manipulating one's own body and not only the elements one was adept in. But a walking newborn was a whole different occurrence. This accounted for both magic control and magic capacity. Magic power was influenced by instinct or emotions so if a child was angry magic power would soar and it would be exerted at a single point but that would lead to depletion. A practical newborn walking was nigh impossible. Newborns did not have self-control and did not even have the skill of walking yet since the muscles used were not even present yet. That was spectacular magic control equivalent to the control of what top tiered Elementalists could do. It was like making a paraplegic walk.
"How in the world was he capable of doing it, such a fragile child yet, he is able to control magic at such a level."
'The Great Omnipotence has truly cursed me. If the people know of his talent, it will definitely be bad for us. We already have fallen from Rex Imperia's graces. Ezra is sure to be a candidate for Rex Imperia in the future; this will cause envy from the Primarch Four.'
'Do I hide or nurture Ezra's talent? I just want my son to live his life peacefully, no matter what.'
"It would be better if you were born weak, little one. "
. . .
After the incident, Aerwyna observed Ezra closely; often times she was always at Ezra's side. Even though the wet nurse insisted that she will handle Ezra, Aerwyna never let her. It intrigued her that her son never cried. She asked the wet nurse and her mother if it was normal and both of them said it was definitely unheard of. Normally babies would cry if they wanted food or relieved themselves or if they were drowsy but could not sleep.
There was a time that she had forgotten if she had fed him because of the fact that he did not cry. Luckily the wet nurse had fed him in her stead. What she did was check every four hours to feed him so as to not let him go hungry. Her child's odd behaviour triggered her to check on him while he was not watching.
When she was around, Ezra seemed to be listening keenly and observing everything. When she left him, another peculiar thing happened. She saw him sit up by himself and then closed his eyes. But when she went nearer but out of his line of sight, he immediately lied down again. This prompted her to do the same the next day but then hid her magic power and observed him. He did the same thing half an hour or so before he opened his eyes. Their eyes met, and he fell flat pretending to sleep. She was really worried about him, this behaviour did not relate to any known behaviour of children his age. It was as if he had a high degree of consciousness. At times, he had a look like a grown-up's expression. But when he was asleep, he was like a normal baby. She had an odd child but nevertheless, she loved him from the bottom of her heart. No matter what, she will always protect him.
. . .
It was about eight days from when Ezra was born. She was about to breastfeed him. Before she carried him to her side. She saw him open his mouth.
"Finally this baby is going to cry." she thought. The next thing happened almost made her fall off the chair. as he said:
"Mama, I don't want to eat right now"
