"That's all nice and all but isn't that a little too advanced? Did you explain the very basics to him? How do you actually activate a magic incantation then?" Aerwyna retorted.
"Uhh, well first you chant then you uhh " replied Reitz who was a bit flustered.
"Why is it that some mages are adept at only their types and why is it that as you gain power you become versed in other types as well? "Aerwyna looked at Reitz questioningly.
"I knew I could not leave teaching magic to Ezra just to you."
"But I can answer those questions." Reitz frowned at this. "Why do you want to make me look like a fool in front of Ez anyway? "
"I told you to start from the very basics before. How can magic aura become fully functioning conjured element huh? " Aerwyna continued her inquisition. "Ezra needs to know this so that he can advance his magic."
"Well, firstly the nature of one's magic aura is correlated on what element he becomes adept in and that this nature becomes more in harmony with world's nature and thus we can also understand more of the other elements when we advance through the ranks. That's what we were taught at least." Reitz replied.
"Second yeah, I forgot to mention the four stages of casting. The first is condensation, the next is invocation then after that accumulation and lastly activation."Reitz continued.
"Hmp, Good" Aerwyna said it forcefully with an abrupt nod.
"You've explained to him condensation, and in Blackfyre magics it is the most important, the house uses their magic purity for offence. " Aerwyna interjected.
"Hmm sounds like the concept of uranium to me," Ezra thought,"the purer the uranium the bigger the bang."
"During the invocation phase, we try to condense the magic from where we want it to appear while chanting the magic incantation and also visualizing the chant. After this is accumulation, there is a split second where we determine the range, effectivity, and the power, sometimes a lot of pent up magic is lost in this phase and your accumulation on the first stage will all be for naught, this is the part where magic control talent comes into play also if you have superb magic control you will be able to control the strength of your body, but as with everything there is a method to that, you also need to understand your body, just like you need to understand the elements to gain power in the said element. Finally, we activate the magic by releasing the pent-up magic energy in the place we condensed the magic." Aerwyna continued.
"Did you get all that Ezra?" Reitz asked.
"Yes father," Ezra replied.
"The hardest part of the process is the invocation, where you have to concentrate on focusing your power in a certain part while also chanting the incantation. Most of the time things go awry here. But I have heard that hydromancers have a hard time with the first phase. Is that true my darling?"
"Hmp." Aerwyna snorted.
"Fire elementalists, because of the purity of their magic have the easiest time when it comes to casting chantless magic. Your father is pretty talented as well I did my first chantless magic when I was six, though I did not master it till I was ten. Most of the time the magic blew up in my face hahaha. Your mother could not use chantless magic till she was twenty." Reitz rubbed his nose at this.
"Well, we water elementalists don't necessarily have the body and constitution for that." Aerwyna Explained "Well I know what body you have for. I have seen it personally," Reitz grinned as he interjected.
"One more word and I am going to hit you again," Aerwyna retorted.
"Besides I am the youngest water mage to ever use chantless magic," she continued.
"You only practised ever so hard because you wanted to beat me in the duel," Reitz said with a melodious mocking voice.
"But I have to admit you were really scary in the battle of Broken Valley, to think you could do that, well they called you Ice Queen after that" as Reitz said this he looked at Ezra.
"Before I teach you the chant though, I want you to expand your magic aura as far as possible. Sheesh, this is so awkward talking to a baby about magic." Reitz said.
"Okay, father. "
Ezra closed his eyes and he immersed in the heightened consciousness, it was really a bizarre feeling, a surreal experience, he noticed his surroundings inch by inch and tried to expand as fast as he could then there was sort of a stretching feeling as he tried to expand to his limit.
"Woah Ezra this is the capacity of your magic aura? To think a baby would have this. This is currently half my magic field and to think I am considered a top tiered Elementalist." The couple shuddered at the talent of their son.
Reitz looked at Aerwyna as he said, "Are you sure you did not cheat on me with some Earth noble? His range is on par with secondary stage Earth elementalists."
"Are you stupid? look at him he looks almost exactly like you except for the cheekbones." Aerwyna frowned as she said this.
"Haha I was joking, of course, Ezra is my son, how can anyone else have him as a son? His talent comes from me hahaha." he laughed loudly as he said this.
"But of course who would dare lie with the wife of Ashbringer?" His face suddenly became dark and serious there was a bit of bloodlust in his eyes as he uttered the words.
Thwack!
"Stop trying to act cool again will you and continue with your instruction." Aerwyna breathed out as she hit him again.
"Okay okay I'll quit it," said Reitz
Reitz turned toward Ezra again. "Okay Ezra, try to condense it to your body so that we can see your mana capacity, the thicker the aura the greater the capacity."
Ezra did as he was instructed and slowly withdrew his aura he tried to condense it to his body. His parents monitored their son's aura. "Oh, Great Omnipotence!" Aerwyna gasped. Reitz also shuddered at what he saw. His aura was a bright as the sun. It was as if they could not look at him directly. "He-he has the same mana capacity as me!" Aerwyna observed.
"Okay, now Ezra condense everything to a point where you want to fire your magic," Reitz said.
Ezra put his hand forward and then attempted to put all his magic aura in his raised arm.
"Yep, he is definitely a Blackfyre, you can't condense that much mana without a certain purity."
Ezra could not condense all his magic aura to his arm as it felt more viscous as it accumulated.
"Okay now chant with me."
