A breathing bone. 

That’s what the nurses called the patient lying down at the end of the hospital’s left wing. Far from the crowd and not supported by any life supporting machine. Abandoned and waiting for death.

But death seems to avoid the man. Days. Weeks. Months. For eight years since the man was admitted in the hospital, he stayed lying down without any food or antibiotics… alive. With almost nothing but his organs, wrinkled skin, and bones, the man continuously breathed on top of that unchanged hospital bed that was left like that in fear that they would break the man if they tried to move him even for a bit.  His curious case piqued the scientific community but no one can decipher what’s actually happening to the man’s body. 

Until his ninth year came. 

And the hospital fell from a massive earthquake.

Gladly, in his ninth year, the breathing bone died.
