My hands froze on the doorknob. Their groans and grunts floated clearly over the closed door. A knot formed in my chest, and I closed my eyes as my body went numb.


For the first time in my life, I hoped this was one of the many nightmares I usually had. _Hoped that this wasn't happening. And that my mate wasn't sleeping with my best friend, in my own room._


I pushed the door open, without thinking and walked in. With tear stricken face, I watched them as they cuddled each other, enveloped with postcoital bliss.

“What the hell are you doing here? Get your worthless self out of here.” Lucian hissed, tightening his hold on her body.


My eyes stung with the tears I'd pushed back. If what I'd witnessed didn't hurt enough, his words did.

And without another word, I turned and left the room.
