*Chapter 1: The Fox's Warning*
I'd always been fascinated by the stories my grandmother used to tell me about the yokai, the supernatural creatures from Japanese mythology. She'd speak of the kitsune, the fox spirits with nine tails, and the tengu, the bird-like humanoids with magical powers.
But I never thought I'd encounter one myself.
I was walking home from school on a crisp autumn afternoon when I saw him - a fox with nine tails, sitting on a bench in the park. He looked at me with piercing yellow eyes, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"You're in danger, Kaitlyn," the fox said in a low, smooth voice.
I spun around, wondering if anyone was playing a prank on me, but there was no one there. The fox's eyes seemed to bore into my soul.
"What do you mean?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"The Shadow Weavers are coming for you," the fox replied, his tails twitching ominously. "You have a special gift, one that could change the course of destiny."
I had no idea what he was talking about, but before I could ask any questions, the fox vanished into thin air.
I stood there, feeling stunned and confused. What was going on? And what did the fox mean by "Shadow Weavers"?
As I walked home, I couldn't shake off the feeling that my life was about to take a dramatic turn.
Little did I know, the fox's warning was only the beginning.
