Chapter 2 - Memory

We transition into "Adrian's" dream, where he is frightened, running swiftly and gasping for breath in a dark, dense forest at night. While running, he stumbles and hits his head against a tree, jolting awake in tears and terror. The dream deeply affects him.

A man named "Hansen" enters the scene. He lives with "Adrian," though he is neither his father nor his brother. He is someone else living with "Adrian" for reasons that will soon become clear.

"Hansen" asks "Adrian" why he is crying. "Adrian" recounts the dream, to which "Hansen" responds, "When will this memory end?" This implies that what "Adrian" experienced was not merely a dream, but a memory resurfacing in his sleep.

"Hansen" tries to comfort him until "Adrian" eventually calms down and goes back to sleep.

The next morning, "Adrian" wakes up and prepares to continue reading the book. Later, "Gary" arrives at "Adrian's" home—revealing that the house actually belongs to "Hansen" and that "Adrian" lives there for reasons yet to be unveiled.

"Gary" and "Adrian" then head out and sit in a park along a tree-lined path. Before their conversation begins, we are taken into a flashback—one that expands on the gunfire heard at the beginning of the first chapter.

It is revealed that those who died in the shooting were "Adrian's" parents and his younger sister. The killers quickly fled after executing the attack, believing that "Adrian" had died along with his family. However, he had only been wounded in his left arm. When he collapsed, it merely appeared as though he was dead.
