Chapter 1 - To a Different Time Period

Shisui stood before Itachi, his expression calm but his eyes reflecting a deep sorrow. "Danzo already took my right eye," he began, his voice steady despite the weight of his words. "So, before he has a chance to take my other one, I want you to have it, Itachi. You're the only one I trust with it."

Itachi's gaze locked onto Shisui's, searching for any sign of hesitation. "Shisui... I accept it. But what will you do now?"

A faint, bittersweet smile appeared on Shisui's lips as he looked at his closest friend, the weight of his decision clear in his eyes. "I'll do what I must to protect the village, even if it means sacrificing everything." He hesitated for a moment, as if the words he was about to say were too painful to utter. "Itachi, I'm sorry... for everything."

Itachi's heart clenched as Shisui's meaning became clear. "No... Shisui, there has to be another way!" he pleaded, stepping forward in desperation, but Shisui shook his head, the smile never leaving his face.

"This is the only way, Itachi. Take care of the village... and yourself." Shisui said softly, his voice tinged with a sadness that made Itachi's chest tighten.

Without giving Itachi a chance to respond, Shisui turned away, the wind rustling through the trees as he walked toward the edge of the cliff. With one last glance over his shoulder, he offered Itachi a final, sorrowful smile, a silent farewell that spoke more than words ever could.

'Forgive me, Itachi.' he thought, a pang of regret echoing in his heart as he took a step forward into the void.

"Shisui!" Itachi's voice broke, raw with agony and despair, as he lunged forward, but it was too late. Shisui had already disappeared into the abyss below.

The sound of the wind and the rustling leaves was all that remained as Itachi stood at the cliff's edge, staring down at the spot where his best friend had vanished, the weight of his sacrifice settling heavily on his shoulders.

Shisui felt the wind rushing past him, then the sudden stillness as he plunged into the abyss. He braced for the inevitable impact, but instead, he was enveloped by an intense light, and everything went silent.

When he finally opened his eyes, Shisui found himself lying on a soft patch of grass, the scent of fresh earth filling his senses. Confused, he sat up, his hand instinctively reaching for his face. To his shock, he felt both his eyes intact, the familiar surge of chakra coursing through him.

"What… how is this possible?" Shisui whispered, his heart racing as he tried to understand what had happened.

Before he could gather his thoughts, a voice called out to him, bright and full of concern. "Hey! Are you okay?"

Shisui turned toward the voice and saw a young woman with vibrant blonde hair and striking blue eyes. She wore an orange jacket and black pants, and her expression was a mix of curiosity and worry. The whisker-like marks on her cheeks were distinctive, but she was someone he didn't recognize.

"Who… who are you?" Shisui asked, his voice shaky, still reeling from the shock of being alive—and having his eyes.

The girl blinked in surprise. "I'm Naruko Uzumaki! I was just on my way back to the village when I found you here. Are you hurt?"

"Uzumaki…?" Shisui repeated, her last name familiar, but not the person. He shook his head, trying to focus. "I… I don't know what's happening. I shouldn't be here. I was… I was supposed to be dead."

Naruko's expression shifted from concern to confusion. "Dead? You don't look dead to me. What's your name?"

"Shisui… Shisui Uchiha." he said, still trying to piece together what had happened.

Naruko's eyes widened in shock. "Shisui? Like, the Shisui of the Body Flicker? But… you were supposed to have died years ago!"

Shisui's heart skipped a beat. "Years ago…? What are you talking about?"

Naruko stood there, clearly at a loss for words. "I mean, I heard stories, but… how are you here now?"

Shisui looked around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings and the fact that this girl, Naruko, seemed to know him from tales long past. "I don't know… I don't understand any of this. But my eyes… they're back. Both of them."

Naruko nodded, her expression softening. "It sounds like a lot has happened to you. Maybe we should head back to the village and talk to Granny Tsunade. She might be able to help figure out what's going on."

Shisui hesitated, then nodded. He didn't have any other answers, and going back to the village seemed like the best course of action. "Alright… let's go."

As they walked through the forest, Shisui's senses were on high alert. Every sound, every rustle of leaves seemed sharper, more vivid. His mind was still grappling with the impossibility of his situation, but the presence of the girl—Naruko—kept him grounded, if only slightly.

Naruko noticed his cautious glances around and offered a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, the village is just up ahead. You'll see it soon."

Shisui nodded absently, his thoughts a whirlwind. "Naruko… you said it's been years since I… since I was supposed to have died. How long, exactly?"

"About..a decade I think." Naruko replied, her tone thoughtful.

Shisui felt a cold chill run down his spine. A..decade? He had been gone for that long? The world he knew was no longer and definitely changed entirely in that time. "What about the Uchiha clan? What happened after… after I was gone?"

Naruko's expression grew somber, and she hesitated before answering. "I don't know all the details, but… there was a lot of trouble with the Uchiha clan. Something about a coup and then… well, Itachi…"

Shisui's heart sank. "Itachi? What happened to him?"

Naruko bit her lip, unsure how to break the news. "Itachi… he… he did something terrible. He… he killed the whole Uchiha clan. Only Sasuke survived."

The words hit Shisui like a physical blow. Itachi, his best friend moreso brother, had slaughtered their entire clan? "No… Itachi wouldn't…"

"I'm sorry." Naruko said quietly, sensing his anguish. "I don't know all the details, but that's what everyone says. Itachi left the village right after that."

Shisui's mind reeled. Itachi had always been conflicted, burdened by the weight of their clan's future and the village's expectations, but to think he would go that far… "I need to know the truth." he muttered, more to himself than to Naruko.

"We'll figure it out together." Naruko said firmly, her resolve clear. "Granny Tsunade will know more, and we can get to the bottom of this. I promise. She's the new Hokage."

Shisui looked at her, seeing the determination in her eyes. Despite not knowing her, he felt a strange sense of trust. "Thank you, Naruko."

As they continued walking, the forest gradually gave way to the familiar sight of the village gates. Shisui's heart pounded in his chest as memories flooded back—memories of a place that had once been his home, now changed in ways he couldn't yet comprehend.

When they reached the gates, two guards on duty eyed them curiously, clearly recognizing Naruko. One of them stepped forward. "Naruko! You're back! And… wait, is that…?"

Naruko grinned. "Yep, I'm back! And I brought someone who needs to see Granny Tsunade right away."

The guards exchanged glances, clearly shocked to see Shisui alive. "Is that really… Shisui Uchiha?" one of them asked, disbelief coloring his voice.

Shisui gave a small nod, still feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on him. "It's me."

The guards stepped aside, allowing them to pass. "Welcome back, Shisui." one of them said, still stunned. "The village has missed you."

As Shisui walked through the gates, memories of the village flooded his mind—the bustling streets, the familiar faces, the sense of belonging. But now, it all felt distant, like a dream he was struggling to remember.

Naruko led him through the village, her presence a comforting anchor in this strange new reality. They reached the Hokage's office, where Shizune greeted them with wide eyes.

"Naruko! And… Shisui? But how—?" Shizune stammered, clearly shocked.

"We need to see Granny Tsunade." Naruko said urgently. "It's important."

Shizune nodded quickly and led them into the Hokage's office. Tsunade was sitting behind her desk, her usual stern expression faltering when she saw Shisui.

"Shisui… Uchiha?" Tsunade said slowly, rising from her seat. "This is… unexpected."

Shisui bowed slightly, still feeling out of place. "Hokage-sama… I don't know how I'm here, or what has happened. But I need answers."

Tsunade motioned for him to sit down, her eyes scanning him with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Start from the beginning, Shisui. Tell me everything you remember."

As Shisui began recounting the events leading up to his supposed death, Naruko stood by his side, listening intently. The story of his fall into the abyss, his sudden awakening in the forest, and the restoration of his eyes—all of it seemed impossible, yet here he was.

Tsunade listened carefully, her expression growing more serious with each word. When Shisui finished, she leaned back in her chair, deep in thought.

"This is… unprecedented," Tsunade finally said. "There's no logical explanation for how you survived, or how your eyes were restored. But we'll find out the truth. I'll have the best medical-nin examine you, and we'll uncover whatever we can."

Shisui nodded, grateful for her support. "Thank you, Hokage-sama. And… about Itachi…"

Tsunade's expression darkened. "That's a more complicated matter..we'll discuss that once we've confirmed your condition."

Naruko, sensing Shisui's unease, spoke up. "We'll figure this out, Shisui. You're not alone in this."

Shisui looked at her, feeling a sense of gratitude and relief. "Thank you, Naruko. I… I appreciate it."

As they prepared to delve into the mysteries surrounding Shisui's return, one thing was clear: the world he knew was gone, but with Naruko by his side, he wouldn't face this new reality alone.

Tsunade called for a team of medical-nin to examine Shisui thoroughly. As they arrived and began their work, the atmosphere in the Hokage's office grew tense. Shisui sat quietly, allowing the medics to perform their scans and tests, his mind swirling with thoughts of the past and present.

Naruko stood nearby, her arms crossed, watching the medics with a mix of curiosity and concern. "You're gonna be fine." she said, trying to sound reassuring. "Granny Tsunade's the best there is. She'll figure this out."

Shisui nodded but remained silent, his gaze distant. The weight of everything he'd learned—about Itachi, the Uchiha massacre, and the decade that had passed—pressed down on him like a heavy shroud.

After what felt like an eternity, the medical team finished their examination and stepped back, exchanging glances before turning to Tsunade. The lead medic, a seasoned shinobi with sharp eyes, gave his report.

"Hokage-sama, there's no sign of any injury or abnormality in Shisui's body. His chakra network is fully intact, and both of his Sharingan are functioning perfectly. It's as if… it's as if he never lost them in the first place."

Tsunade frowned, her brow furrowing in thought. "And there's no explanation for how he survived or why he's here now?"

The medic shook his head. "None that we can find. It's a medical mystery, to say the least."

Tsunade dismissed the medics with a nod, then turned her full attention to Shisui. "It seems your survival is as much a mystery as your reappearance. But for now, we can confirm that you're healthy and whole."

Shisui nodded, still grappling with the news. "I understand, Hokage-sama. But I need to know… what happened to the Uchiha clan? And Itachi… why did he do it?"

Tsunade sighed, her eyes heavy with sorrow. "That's the question that haunts us all. After you disappeared, tensions with the Uchiha clan escalated. There were rumors of a coup, but nothing concrete. Then, one night, Itachi… he slaughtered the entire clan. We never understood why. It was as if he turned against everything he once believed in."

Shisui's heart sank. "Itachi would never do something like that without a reason. There has to be more to this."

"That's what we've always wondered," Tsunade continued. "But Itachi left the village immediately afterward. He joined the Akatsuki, a criminal organization, and hasn't been seen here since. Sasuke, his younger brother, has been consumed with revenge ever since."

Naruko, who had been listening quietly, frowned in confusion. "But why would Itachi do that? He was one of the most loyal shinobi the village ever had. There's got to be a reason he did what he did, right?"

Tsunade shook her head, frustration evident in her voice. "We've searched for answers, but we've found nothing. Itachi's motives remain a mystery, even to those who knew him best."

Shisui felt a deep sadness for his friend. "Itachi must have been carrying a burden none of us understood. But why couldn't he tell anyone? Why did he choose such a terrible path?"

"I wish I had answers for you, Shisui," Tsunade said softly. "But all we have are questions and a trail of pain left in Itachi's wake."

Naruko looked at Shisui with determination.

"We'll find out the truth, Shisui. We can't let Itachi's actions stay shrouded in mystery. There has to be a reason, and we'll uncover it together."

Shisui nodded, grateful for Naruko's support.

"Yes. It's the least I can do for Itachi—and for Sasuke. Whatever the truth is, we need to find it."

Tsunade leaned forward, her expression resolute. "For now, Shisui, it's best if your return remains quiet. We don't know how others will react, especially given the mystery surrounding Itachi. But I'll support you in any way I can as you search for answers."

Shisui stood, bowing slightly. "Thank you, Hokage-sama. I won't rest until I understand what happened—and why."

-Cutscene-

Shisui and Naruko left the Hokage's office, the weight of their mission pressing heavily on their shoulders. The bright sunlight outside seemed to contrast sharply with the dark uncertainties swirling in Shisui's mind. He glanced around the village, noticing subtle changes—new buildings, unfamiliar faces—but also feeling the familiar warmth of the place he once called home.

As they walked through the streets, Naruko watched him carefully, sensing the turmoil within him. "Hey, if you need some time to get used to everything again, I understand. It's a lot to take in."

Shisui gave her a small, appreciative smile. "Thank you, Naruko. It's just… everything feels so different. And knowing what Itachi did, without understanding why… it's hard to process."

Naruko nodded, her expression serious. "I get it. Itachi was like a hero to everyone, and then suddenly, he became the village's greatest traitor. But I believe there's more to his story. There has to be."

They continued walking, the noise of the village filling the silence between them. As they passed a familiar training ground, Shisui paused, memories flooding back. He remembered sparring with Itachi here, the two of them pushing each other to their limits, always striving to grow stronger together.

"Do you know where Sasuke is?" Shisui asked suddenly, turning to Naruko.

Naruko's expression darkened. "Sasuke left the village too, a couple of years ago. He's been chasing after Itachi, driven by revenge. He's with Orochimaru now… at least, that's what we think."

Shisui frowned, the news unsettling him. "Orochimaru? That rogue shinobi? Why would Sasuke align himself with someone like that?"

"It's all about power," Naruko explained, her voice tinged with sadness. "Sasuke believes that only by gaining enough strength can he defeat Itachi. And Orochimaru promised to help him with that."

Shisui clenched his fists, anger and frustration boiling inside him. "Sasuke is walking down a dangerous path. Orochimaru will use him for his own ends, and when he's done, he'll discard him like a tool."

"I know," Naruko said quietly. "But I won't give up on him. I've been training with Jiraiya-sensei to get stronger, so I can bring Sasuke back. I won't let him fall into darkness."

Shisui looked at her, seeing the fierce determination in her eyes. "You care about him a lot, don't you?"

Naruko nodded, her expression softening. "Sasuke's my friend. He's like a brother to me. I promised I'd bring him back, no matter what."

Shisui felt a pang of guilt. If he had been there, if he had survived, maybe things would have been different. Maybe he could have helped Itachi and Sasuke before everything spiraled out of control. But now, all he could do was try to fix what was broken.

"Then I'll help you," Shisui said, his voice firm. "I owe it to both Itachi and Sasuke. If there's any chance of bringing Sasuke back and finding out the truth about Itachi, I'll do everything in my power to make it happen."

Naruko smiled, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Thank you, Shisui. Together, we'll find a way."

They continued walking, eventually reaching a quiet spot by a small stream. Shisui sat down on a large rock, gazing into the water, deep in thought. Naruko joined him, the two of them sitting in comfortable silence for a while, the sound of the flowing stream soothing their minds.

After a few minutes, Shisui spoke again, his voice contemplative. "I remember when Itachi and I were young, we used to talk about the future of the Uchiha clan and the village. We both wanted to protect everyone, to find a way to bring peace. But somewhere along the way, things went wrong."

Naruko listened quietly, sensing the sorrow in his words.

"I can't help but wonder," Shisui continued, "if I could have done something differently. Maybe if I had been stronger, if I had found a way to stop Danzo, none of this would have happened."

"You can't blame yourself, Shisui," Naruko said gently. "You did everything you could. Sometimes, things happen that are out of our control. But what matters now is what we do moving forward."

Shisui nodded, appreciating her words. "You're right. We can't change the past, but we can shape the future. And I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that future is one where Sasuke can come back to the village, and where we finally understand why Itachi did what he did."

Naruko grinned, her usual optimism returning.

"That's the spirit! We've got this, Shisui. We'll make things right."

As they sat by the stream, Shisui felt a renewed sense of purpose. The road ahead would be difficult, filled with uncertainties and challenges, but he wasn't alone. With Naruko by his side, he had hope that they could uncover the truth and bring healing to the wounds that had torn the Uchiha clan and the village apart.

-Cutscene-

After sitting by the stream, Shisui and Naruko walked together through the village streets, the conversation between them light but filled with an unspoken understanding. Shisui made sure to be discreet about his appearance.

The sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the village, and Shisui felt a mix of nostalgia and resolve. He knew he needed to visit the Uchiha Compound, to see it one last time before embarking on his new path.

As they reached the edge of the village, where the Uchiha Compound lay in the distance, Shisui turned to Naruko. "Naruko, I need to go to the Uchiha Compound. There's something I need to do."

Naruko looked at him with concern. "Are you sure you want to go alone? It's been a long time, and it might be emotionally overwhelming."

Shisui nodded. "I appreciate the concern, but this is something I need to do by myself. I need to say my goodbyes to the place where I grew up."

Naruko's eyes softened with understanding. "Alright. Just… be careful, okay? And remember, if you need anything, I'm here."

Shisui smiled warmly, feeling a deep gratitude for her support. "Thank you, Naruko. For everything."

He hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and pulled Naruko into a heartfelt hug.

The gesture caught her by surprise. She stiffened for a moment before relaxing into the embrace, her cheeks flushing a delicate pink.

"Shisui…" she murmured, feeling the warmth of his gratitude and the sincerity in his touch.

"Thank you for being here." Shisui said softly, his voice tinged with emotion. "I couldn't have faced all of this without you."

Naruko, still blushing, hugged him back. "You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. Be safe, and… take care of yourself."

As they parted, Naruko looked at him with a mix of sadness and hope. "Goodbye, Shisui. We'll see each other again."

"Goodbye, Naruko." Shisui replied, giving her a final, appreciative smile before turning towards the Uchiha Compound.

Shisui walked with purpose towards the old compound, each step bringing him closer to a place filled with memories. The compound stood silent and abandoned, a shadow of its former self. The familiar streets and houses seemed to hold echoes of laughter and life long gone.

He reached the center of the compound, where the Uchiha clan's ancestral shrine stood. The air was thick with memories of his family and friends. Shisui stood there, taking a deep breath, feeling a profound sense of loss and nostalgia. He closed his eyes, allowing himself a moment of reflection and farewell.

But as he did, an unexpected wave of disorientation washed over him. His vision went blank, and he felt as if he were falling through a void. The familiar world of the Uchiha Compound faded away, replaced by a new, ethereal realm.

When his vision cleared, Shisui found himself standing in a place that seemed both familiar and otherworldly. He was in a serene, expansive landscape with floating islands and ancient, towering trees. In front of him stood a figure cloaked in traditional robes, radiating an aura of calm and authority. It was..the Sage of Six Paths.
