Cece: OMG!!! I'm gonna be late! I can't believe this is going to be my first impression at school. Mom! I don't think I can eat breakfast today. I have to go for admission on my first day of college.
Mom: Okay, dear, but remember—don't create trouble for your teachers or other students.
Cece: Okay, Mom, I'll try.
(The admission is over, and the newbies have to give a speech.)
Cece: Oh no, no, no! I totally hate speeches.
Eva: Hey, are you the new girl? I'm Eva Yong Dickson.
Cece: Oh yes, actually, I'm Cece Yong Hihstay.
Eva: Wow! Do we have the same middle name or what?
Cece: I think so. But I have a serious issue at hand.
Eva: What? Are you about to have an asthma attack?
Cece: No, I am asthma-negative, but I might have an attack now! I hate speeches!
Eva: Don't worry, I got your back.
(They both manage to give their speeches without too much interruption or questions.)
Cece: What apartment did you get for your boarding? I got number 13.
Eva: Yeah! I got number 14, which means we're on the same floor.
(Cece and Eva became friends and started classes, which didn't go too well for them.)
Cece: Is it just me, or does everyone hate us?
Eva: You mean the girls? Oh! I'm used to that.
Cece: But I'm not! I mean, all the girls I've met were my friends.
Eva: You mean fans, or they were using you. Girl, there's a difference between fans, friends, and frenemies.
Cece: I guess so! Let's go, I don't want to be late for my science class.
Eva: You're so prim and proper. Tsk.
(When they enter the class, they meet the teacher and two boys standing in front.)
Eva: I don't think I've seen these guys around.
Cece: Yeah! They're new.
(The teacher asks the boys to introduce themselves.)
Arlan: I'm Arlan, and this is my brother Aiden. Just call us by our first names, or just ignore us—that's fine too.
Eva: I'm sure they totally can't be ignored.
Cece: Yeah, they're already rated the hottest guys on campus.
(They both giggle loudly.)
Teacher: Every year, we hold a Blind Masquerade Party. It is a party where no one knows their date until the event. It is also compulsory to wear a mask that covers at least half of your face. Some selected boys and girls will participate. Each boy will have a date, and two couples will win an award. The winning boy will take his girl as his perfect match.
Cece: Should I be happy or sad about the party?
Eva: I don't know! Let's just see what the universe unfolds.
Cece: Well, okay. Would you like a sleepover at my place?
Eva: Yeah, that would be great! Why don't we have fun at the park first and then go to your house?
Cece: I don't see anything wrong with that—as long as I get cotton candy!
(The two friends chatter happily, unaware of the awful plans the universe has in store for them. Soon, the only thing remaining will be the remnants of their true friendship...)
