Chapter 12: The Price of Revenge
1. A City That Kills
Seoul wasn't just a city.
It was a monster—and right now, it was hunting them.
Jinwoo gripped the steering wheel, weaving through the narrow alleys. Neon lights flashed past. Sirens howled in the distance.
In the passenger seat, Hye-jin checked her gun. Only two bullets left.
She exhaled. "Where are we going?"
Jinwoo didn't answer immediately.
Because he didn't know.
Min-jae had eyes everywhere.
Every street. Every alley.
No safe houses. No allies.
Just him, Hye-jin, and the entire underworld chasing them.
His fingers clenched the wheel.
"I have one last option."
Hye-jin glanced at him. "And what's that?"
Jinwoo's jaw tightened.
"War."

2. A Betrayal in the Dark
They reached an old warehouse near the docks.
Jinwoo killed the engine. The place was empty. Silent.
Too silent.
Hye-jin frowned. "Are you sure about this?"
Jinwoo stepped out, scanning the area. Something felt off.
Then—
A gun cocked behind him.
"I was wondering when you'd show up, Jinwoo."
Jinwoo froze.
That voice.
He turned slowly.
And there, stepping out of the shadows—
Kyung-ho.
His own brother.
Holding a gun to his head.
---
3. The Cost of Trust
Jinwoo's stomach twisted.
"Kyung-ho." His voice was calm, but inside, rage burned.
His own brother. His blood.
Betraying him.
Kyung-ho smirked. "Min-jae made me a better offer."
Jinwoo's mind raced.
Min-jae planned this.
He had used Kyung-ho as bait.
Jinwoo's eyes flickered to Hye-jin. She was tense, fingers twitching over her gun.
But she wouldn't be fast enough.
Kyung-ho would pull the trigger before she could move.
Jinwoo exhaled.
There was only one way out of this.
He raised his hands.
"I surrender."
---
4. The Fall of the Street King
Kyung-ho smirked. "Smart choice, hyung."
He gestured for Jinwoo to kneel.
Jinwoo did.
And as Kyung-ho stepped closer—
Jinwoo moved.
Lightning-fast.
His hand shot up— grabbed Kyung-ho's wrist—twisted.
Kyung-ho shouted in pain.
The gun clattered to the ground.
Jinwoo grabbed it—and turned it on his brother.
Kyung-ho panted, eyes wide. "You wouldn't."
Jinwoo's hand trembled.
For the first time in his life—he hesitated.
Kyung-ho's smirk returned.
"Still weak, huh?"
Before Jinwoo could react—
Kyung-ho lunged for his knife.
Bang!
A single shot.
Kyung-ho froze.
Then collapsed.
Jinwoo stood over him.
His brother lay there, blood pooling beneath him.
Kyung-ho coughed, smiling weakly.
"Guess I wasn't strong enough… after all."
Jinwoo's fingers clenched the gun.
His own brother.
Dead by his hands.
And Min-jae was still out there.
Watching. Waiting. Laughing.
Jinwoo exhaled.
The war wasn't over.
It was just beginning.
