Chapter 4 - The Game Begins

Lisa tried to ignore the weight of Felix's stare, but it was impossible.

Even after he walked away, the memory of those sharp, calculating eyes lingered in her mind. Why was he watching her?

Was he planning to make her life miserable?

Was this some kind of test?

Lisa exhaled sharply. Whatever it was, she wasn't going to lose.

She had worked too hard to get here. She had dreamed of coming to Beijing, working in tech, and proving herself.

She wasn't going to let some arrogant CEO scare her off.

Felix sat at his desk, scrolling through the latest project reports.

His mind should have been on the company's new phone launch, the upcoming VR game release, or the security upgrades for their tablet series.

But instead, his thoughts kept drifting back to her.

Lisa Okafor.

The new recruit who had dared to challenge him.

Felix wasn't used to being questioned. People either feared him, admired him, or avoided him altogether. But Lisa? She wasn't afraid.

And that intrigued him.

He glanced at his computer screen. A new email had popped up—one of the app developers had sent an update.

Felix's eyes narrowed as he read it.

Lisa had submitted another bug fix.

She was still working late.

A small smirk tugged at his lips.

"Let's see how far you'll go, Lisa Okafor."

Lisa walked into the office, feeling more determined than ever.

She was greeted by Mei, who immediately pulled her aside.

"Lisa, what did you do?!"

Lisa blinked. "What do you mean?"

Mei pointed to Lisa's desk. A file was sitting on top of her laptop. A thick, official-looking file with a gold seal stamped on the cover.

Lisa's heart skipped a beat.

"What is that?"

Mei gave her a worried look. "That's a direct project assignment from Felix Zheng."

Lisa froze.

Felix had personally given her an assignment?

Mei whispered, "No newbie gets a direct assignment from the CEO unless they're being tested… or punished."

Lisa swallowed hard.

She reached for the file, flipped it open, and her eyes widened.

It was a game prototype—a highly classified AR (Augmented Reality) project that Z&K was developing. The instructions were clear:

"Find all weak points in the user experience and suggest improvements within three days. If you can't handle it, don't waste my time."

At the bottom of the page was Felix's signature.

Lisa clenched her jaw.

She looked toward the tenth floor, where his office was.

Oh, so this is how you want to play? Fine. Let's play.

Felix stood by his office window, watching as Lisa flipped through the file.

He could see the determination in her posture, the way she held the file tightly, the slight furrow in her brow.

She wasn't backing down.

Good.

Felix turned away from the window and smirked.

Let the game begin.
