Chapter 42: Tsunade
Kamishiro supported Kakashi and left the tent. Guided by Kakashi, they headed towards Tsunade's tent.
The distance was quite short. After walking for a short while, Kakashi said they had arrived.
Kakashi called out weakly, "Lady Tsunade, Chunin Kakashi Hatake has something to report!"
However, Kakashi's voice was too soft, and there was no movement inside the tent. It seemed the person inside didn't hear him.
Kakashi coughed and called out again, but still, there was no response.
Kamishiro couldn't stand it anymore and shouted at the top of his voice, "Lady Tsunade! I'm Kamishiro, a member of Minato Namikaze's team. I have something to report to Lady Tsunade!"
A few seconds after Kamishiro's voice faded, the curtain of the tent was lifted.
"Wow! So huge!"
Due to Kamishiro's height, he couldn't see the person's face at first glance. Instead, he saw something he shouldn't have.
Suddenly, Kamishiro felt a hint of killing intent.
He looked up and saw veins bulging on Tsunade's forehead. She was glaring at Kamishiro with a scowl and asked, "What did you just say?"
Kamishiro felt a chill run up his spine. He shivered and quickly defended himself, "Uh... I said Lady Tsunade has a tall and imposing figure. No wonder she's one of the Sannin of Konoha!"
There was a "Duang" sound.
Kamishiro squatted on the ground, rubbing the swelling bump on his head desperately. Tears welled up in his eyes from the pain.
Tsunade blew on her fist and sneered, "Kid, next time it won't just be a bump on your head!"
Since Kamishiro let go of him, Kakashi staggered and seemed about to fall to the ground at any moment.
Tsunade looked at Kakashi's pale face and the blood seeping through the bandages on his body. She frowned, and her hands clenched into fists trembled slightly.
Just as Kakashi was about to fall, Tsunade reached out and grabbed the back of his collar, lifting him into the tent.
Kamishiro rubbed the bump on his head. After the pain subsided a bit, he brazenly entered the tent too.
Kakashi was placed on a small bed by Tsunade, and a black cloth was draped over him to cover the blood.
Then Tsunade performed the Mystical Palm Technique on Kakashi to treat him.
During the treatment, Kakashi reported to Tsunade, "Lady Tsunade, when we were monitoring the camp of the Cloud Ninjas, we found that they would attack our camp in an hour.
Now the Cloud Ninjas should have already set off and be on their way here. I sent my ninja dogs back to the camp to report. I wonder if Lord Jiraiya and Lord Orochimaru have received the information?"
Tsunade said to Kakashi, "You don't need to worry about this. Jiraiya and Orochimaru have already received the information and have led their men out of the camp. They had already set up an ambush before. Even without your information, nothing will go wrong."
Hearing what Tsunade said, Kamishiro immediately got unhappy and complained, "What the heck! If it's unimportant, then why did you send us to keep an eye on them? It's a pointless exercise. It's a complete waste of time!"
Tsunade and Kakashi simultaneously turned their gazes towards Kamishiro.
Feeling their piercing gazes, Kamishiro shrank his head and whispered, "I'll shut up."
After a while, Tsunade stopped using the Mystical Palm Technique. She said to Kakashi, "I've basically treated your injuries with the Mystical Palm Technique. However, you lost quite a lot of blood, so you need to rest for a while."
Kamishiro excitedly threw a punch into the air, "Rest for a while? Yeah! That's great!"
Tsunade and Kakashi's gazes turned towards Kamishiro again.
Tsunade's look at Kamishiro became increasingly menacing. She asked Kakashi, "Is this brat from Sunagakure Village always this annoying?"
Kakashi nodded and replied, "Well, sort of."
Kamishiro got anxious and immediately condemned, "Hey, Kakashi! How can you say that? Who carried you on their back and escaped from the enemy after saving you with great difficulty? It's me!"
Tsunade sized up Kamishiro, her eyes full of interest. "Oh? You saved Kakashi when he was seriously injured. Does that mean you're more powerful than Kakashi?"
Kamishiro instantly wilted and forced a smile, "No way. I just said I helped Kakashi and the others escape. I waited until the Cloud Ninjas let their guard down, then I carried Kakashi on my back and ran. That's how I saved him."
Tsunade squinted her eyes as she looked at Kamishiro.
She had already heard from Jiraiya about Kamishiro.
So Tsunade knew that Kamishiro was an undercover agent and was more powerful than Kakashi and the others.
Tsunade glanced at Kakashi. Kakashi slightly shook his head at her, and Tsunade immediately understood.
Tsunade scoffed, "So you're just a cowardly brat who only knows how to run away. How boring. Alright, help Kakashi and leave."
Kamishiro obediently walked up to Kakashi. He gave Kakashi a fierce glare, then supported Kakashi and left Tsunade's tent.
...
Five kilometers outside Konoha's camp.
Jiraiya and Orochimaru stood together, waiting for the Cloud Ninjas to come to them.
When Kamishiro and the others left to monitor the Cloud Ninjas' camp, Orochimaru had already arranged for many ninjas to lie in ambush. He also placed sensory ninjas in very hidden spots to keep constant watch.
Just as Tsunade said, even without the intelligence from Kakashi and the others, Konoha's camp would be safe.
The reason for sending Kakashi and the others to continue the observation was mainly to see if the Cloud Ninjas had any other plans.
After all, the speculation that the Cloud Ninjas would attack Konoha's camp was only based on the map that Kamishiro saw. It wasn't a confirmed fact.
Jiraiya looked at the dim woods and said, "According to the intelligence brought by Kakashi's ninja dogs, the Cloud Ninjas should be here soon."
As soon as Jiraiya finished speaking, a ninja ran over and reported to Jiraiya and Orochimaru, "Lord Orochimaru, Lord Jiraiya, we've found something! A large number of unknown people have appeared in front of our ambush positions."
A cruel smile curled Orochimaru's lips. "Don't act rashly. Wait until they enter the designated area, then attack immediately. No need to take captives. Just kill them all!"
The reporting ninja's face clearly changed. He glanced at Orochimaru with a hint of fear and then immediately lowered his head. "Yes!"
Jiraiya asked, "Really not leaving a few alive to squeeze out some intel?"
Orochimaru said coldly, "It's meaningless. You see, these ninjas can't have much intelligence about Kumogakure. At most, they only know a few of Kumogakure's strongholds in the Land of Hot Water. So, kill them all and chuck their corpses in front of the others. That way, it'll really hurt them, and that's the point. Once we've intimidated them like this, the Cloud Ninjas won't dare to act recklessly."
Jiraiya raised his eyebrows. Although he knew Orochimaru's order was right, he still felt a bit uncomfortable with Orochimaru's Cruelty.
So Jiraiya fell silent and waited for the result of The Battle.
