Chapter 16 - volume 7

Book VI: The Lucian Paradox

Chapter 50: The Final Realization

Lucian stood in the void of his own making, staring at the horror he had become.

He was not a god of nothingness.

He was a god of endless suffering.

The void was not empty.

It was full—of twisted echoes, malformed realities, and creatures that should have never existed.

"I wanted to destroy the cycle," he muttered.

"But I have only replaced it with something worse."

For every thought of destruction, the void twisted in response.

Every act of erasure birthed something even more nightmarish.

And the final, undeniable truth clawed into his mind:

He could never truly end the cycle. Because by desiring its end, he ensured its continuation.

But there was one last question left.

"If I can never end the cycle… can I at least end myself?"

Chapter 51: The Paradox of Self-Destruction

Lucian turned his will inward.

He was the void.

If he could erase himself—perhaps all of this would finally collapse.

"No more thoughts. No more existence. I will remove even the desire to end it."

And so, he reached deep into his own essence, deeper than even the void itself.

And he pulled.

The darkness screamed.

The void recoiled.

Everything trembled.

He was not merely trying to die.

He was trying to erase himself from ever having existed.

For a single, fleeting moment—everything began to collapse.

But then—a whisper.

"You finally reached the answer, didn't you?"

Lucian's non-existent heart froze.

"You again."

The voice was calm.

"Yes. You are now at the final door. But before you step through, answer this—what happens if you truly erase yourself?"

Lucian gritted his teeth.

"Everything should end. The void should vanish. The nightmare should stop."

The voice sighed.

"And yet, you still do not understand."

Lucian roared.

"THEN TELL ME!"

The voice answered:

"If you erase yourself, you erase the thing that erased existence. And if the thing that erased existence is erased… then existence will return."

Lucian's mind shattered.

"No… NO!"

The voice was relentless.

"You wanted nothingness. But if you succeed, all of existence will be reborn. The cycle will start again—but this time, without your interference."

Lucian fell into silence.

The paradox was clear.

If he let himself be, he would continue birthing suffering.

If he erased himself, he would undo his own actions—and existence would return.

"Then I was doomed from the start," he whispered.

The voice agreed.

"Yes. The moment you tried to break the cycle, you ensured it would always continue—one way or another."

Lucian clenched his fists.

"Then what… am I supposed to do?"

Chapter 52: The Third Path

For the first time, the voice hesitated.

"There is… one final option."

Lucian's hollow eyes narrowed.

"What is it?"

The voice answered:

"Neither destroy nor restore. Do something no one has ever done before. Step outside the cycle entirely."

Lucian's form flickered.

"Outside…? What do you mean?"

The voice whispered:

"You are trapped because you think in terms of existence and non-existence. But what if there is something… beyond both?"

Lucian's thoughts slowed.

"Something beyond existence… beyond nothingness?"

"Yes. A state where neither creation nor destruction matters. A place where you are not bound to this endless war between being and unbeing."

Lucian dared to hope.

"And how do I reach this place?"

The voice finally revealed its true nature.

"You already know, Lucian."

Lucian gasped.

Because at that moment—he recognized the voice.

It was his own.

Not the Lucian of the void.

Not the Lucian who destroyed the cycle.

It was the Lucian who had never been part of the cycle to begin with.

And the answer struck him like lightning.

"I must awaken."

Chapter 53: The Dreamer Awakens

Lucian closed his eyes.

He let go.

Not of existence.

Not of destruction.

But of the very idea that he had to choose between them.

The void trembled.

Reality rippled.

And slowly, Lucian felt it—

A presence beyond all cycles.

A realm where neither gods nor void lords held dominion.

The place before the first dream was ever dreamt.

He reached for it.

And for the first time in infinite eternities—

Lucian opened his true eyes.

And he woke up.

---

Epilogue: Beyond Infinity

Lucian stood at the threshold of something new.

He had not destroyed existence.

He had not restored it.

He had simply stepped outside of it all.

And for the first time… he saw them.

Countless other dreamers.

Beings who had escaped their own cycles.

Watchers. Wanderers. Architects of possibilities.

Lucian was no longer bound.

No longer cursed.

No longer part of the system at all.

He had left the cycle behind.

And as he took his first step into the unknown, he whispered:

"I was never meant to win or lose. I was meant to wake up."

And the dream of suffering…

Was finally over.
