Chapter 6 - The Terrifying Iron-Eating Beast

[Wow, eighteen attributes, water, fire, grass, and what else?]

[I can't remember them all, can the streamer repeat them?]

[I can understand water, grass, and bug, but psychic, ghost, and fairy? What the heck are those?]

[Bro, I'm a materialist, and now you're telling me there are psychics and ghosts.]

[Feels like my worldview from the first half of my life has collapsed. Is this still Earth?]

Seeing that most of the audience was still confused about the attributes, Su Feng understood.

It took him a long time to memorize all the attributes back then.

But this wasn't a big deal. He could explain the attributes in detail later when the opportunity arose.

[Wait, streamer, what's behind you!?]

[Streamer! Behind you!]

[Stop explaining and run!]

[It's the Iron-Eating Beast! Run!]

"Iron-Eating Beast?"

Su Feng was slightly stunned by these comments. After a moment of hesitation, he chose to trust them.

With a *bang*, Su Feng shot forward like a rocket, covering over ten meters in an instant.

Feeling that he was out of danger, Su Feng slowed down and turned to look back.

He wanted to see what kind of Pokémon this "Iron-Eating Beast" was that had the audience so panicked.

The moment he saw the Iron-Eating Beast, Su Feng stopped in his tracks.

Su Feng: "..."

Not far away, a Rattata looked at Su Feng's direction in confusion.

Seeing the Rattata being treated like a ferocious beast, Su Feng didn't know what to say.

He sighed helplessly and walked back.

[Streamer, what are you doing!? That's the Iron-Eating Beast!]

[Don't get close! It can bite through your calf in one bite!]

[It's over, it's over. Such a smart streamer, why is he being so reckless now?]

[Streamer, where are you! Give us your location, we'll send someone to rescue you!]

"Sigh, I appreciate your concern, but no rescue is needed."

"However, your misunderstanding of Pokémon is deeper than I thought."

[It's not that, streamer. I'm from City S, and not long ago, a group of Iron-Eating Beasts wreaked havoc here.]

Su Feng frowned: "What happened?"

[Ah, I know about this. I remember a group of Iron-Eating Beasts destroyed a lot of vehicles, and it took the military to drive them away.]

"If they only targeted vehicles, there shouldn't have been any casualties, right?"

[No, but some vehicles and buildings were damaged.]

Hearing this, Su Feng understood.

"I think I get it now."

After a moment of thought, Su Feng slowly approached the Rattata while asking the system in his mind:

"I remember I got a few berries from the draw. How do I take them out?"

This time, the system surprisingly didn't mess around.

[Oh, you can put your hand into the backpack with the drone, then extract the berry you want from your mind. I'll send it to your backpack.]

Su Feng did as instructed, extracting an Oran Berry from the system as he imagined.

From the drone's perspective, Su Feng simply took a berry out of his backpack normally. No one noticed anything unusual.

"Rattata!"

Seeing Su Feng return, the Rattata became alert.

"Hello, Rattata. I mean no harm."

Su Feng extended the Oran Berry in his hand toward the Rattata, trying his best to show his friendliness.

[What are you doing, you fool?]

[This is really the end. The streamer's done for.]

[You really dared to reach out? It can bite through steel in one go.]

"Rattata?"

Looking at the berry in Su Feng's hand, the Rattata hesitated for a moment but ultimately couldn't resist the temptation of food and took the berry.

Seeing the Rattata accept the berry, Su Feng also breathed a sigh of relief.

"Can I pet you, Rattata?"

With the berry in its mouth, the Rattata nodded slightly, agreeing.

[What did I just see? Did the Iron-Eating Beast just nod?]

[Rattata? Why is the streamer calling it Rattata? And it agreed?]

[Wait, is this still the same Iron-Eating Beast that destroyed the city? Why is it so docile?]

Seeing the Rattata agree, Su Feng eagerly reached out and patted its head.

"This is what a Pokémon feels like? So soft, I just want to keep petting it."

Su Feng was almost moved to tears. This was the first time he had actually touched a Pokémon.

The Rattata, while enjoying Su Feng's petting, continued munching on the berry.

The scene of the human and Pokémon interacting was captured by the drone, creating an unexpectedly harmonious picture.

[Oh no, now I want to pet a cat.]

[Darn it, I want to touch something fluffy too.]

[Maybe the Iron-Eating Beast isn't so bad after all?]

The effect was surprisingly good.

As Su Feng had expected, very few people had actually interacted with Pokémon.

Most people's perception of Pokémon was that they were invaders, wild beasts.

The information they received was all negative, painting Pokémon as vicious and brutal.

They never imagined that Pokémon could have such a gentle side.

[Streamer, streamer, can you introduce this little guy called Rattata? It's so cute!]

"Of course," Su Feng replied.

"Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon."

"It looks like a mouse, with a body mainly light purple and flesh-colored. Its most distinctive feature is its two large front teeth."

"Rattata are social Pokémon with a strong reproductive ability. If you see one Rattata, it means there are at least thirty more nearby."

"They usually feed on various fruits and occasionally eat small insects."

[But that doesn't add up. It was devouring steel in the city.]

[Trash streamer spreading false info. I saw the Iron-Eating Beast eating steel with my own eyes.]

[Are you a rabid dog? Biting at everyone.]

[I'm your dad.]

"Alright, alright." Seeing the comments about to escalate into an argument, Su Feng quickly intervened.

"I can probably guess why you call it the Iron-Eating Beast."

"Rattata don't actually eat steel, but their front teeth grow very quickly and need to be constantly ground down."

"If they don't grind their teeth, they'll be in great pain."

"Ordinary trees aren't hard enough for Rattata to grind their teeth, so they have no choice but to turn to harder materials like steel."

"In fact, they are very timid Pokémon and will actively avoid humans. As for destroying the city, I can only say it was a last resort."

"And to the guy who said he saw it swallowing steel, did you actually see it swallow the steel?"

[Well... no, I only saw it gnawing on the steel.]

[So that's how it is. Now that I think about it, a lot of things match what the streamer said.]

[Wait, I just realized something. Was the streamer just talking to the Pokémon?]

Seeing someone bring this up, Su Feng nodded at the camera to confirm.

"Someone noticed it. I was indeed talking to Rattata."

"That's right. Pokémon have relatively high intelligence and can understand human speech to some extent."
