Chapter 21 - Chapter 404: The Aether

Soon, Tony and the others arrived at the factory airspace with personnel. They had already notified the local government and obtained permission before landing inside the factory.

Thor, cradling Jane, walked towards them. Two paramedics wanted to approach Jane, but Thor informed them of what had just happened. Fortunately, Thor's touch didn't trigger the Aether's defenses, so he accompanied her the entire time.

The aircraft soon took off again, heading for New York. The local officials breathed a sigh of relief. It was well known that Jane Foster was in trouble, and they didn't want that trouble to happen in London.

It was a great relief to have the Avengers take this harbinger of misfortune away! At least they were away from the danger. Whatever happened, let the Americans deal with it! It was none of their business!

Inside the dark space, Malekith grabbed a handful of dust from the ground. "This is my legacy! Algrim! I had almost forgotten the days without light!"

Algrim placed a hand on his shoulder. "Our revival is your greatest legacy!"

Malekith threw the dust back to the ground, stood up, and said solemnly, "The suffering we endured must be repaid tenfold by the Asgardians! I will reclaim the Aether!!! I will restore our world!!! I will end this wretched universe!!!"

Back on Earth, the Avengers were unaware of the impending trouble. They were focused on Jane Foster, who had been transported back to New York and was now lying in the Regeneration Cradle!

"There's a powerful energy inside her, very, very powerful! I've never seen readings like this! Her body..." Helen Cho looked at the scan data with disbelief.

"Yeah! And that energy is going to kill her! We have to get it out of her, or she won't survive long!" Banner stroked his chin, his expression grim.

"Okay! Thor! Do you know what that thing is?" Tony turned to Thor.

"No! This is not a substance of Earth! I've never seen anything like it!" Thor shook his head.

Natasha looked at Captain America. "Cap! Can you contact Wanda and Pietro? I think we might need some magical expertise!"

Captain America paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah! I'll call her!" He then walked out of the room to make the call.

Maya squatted beside Jane, carefully examining the Aether particles coursing through her arm. "It's incredible..."

Because they knew from Thor that the Aether would protect itself, and anyone who tried to harm Jane would be attacked, no one dared to touch her lightly.

"Should I go back and ask my father?" Thor was clearly anxious.

Hawkeye reassured him, "Let's wait for Wanda and the others to take a look first. Maybe the Ancient One has a solution!"

Soon, Captain America returned. Behind him were Wanda and Pietro, who hadn't been seen for a while, as well as Strange and Christine!

Since the Ancient One was still unable to make a decision, she intended to cultivate their respective cooperation. Although the two might still be a little unfamiliar, with Christine acting as a mediator, their relationship was also quite good.

When Captain America notified Wanda, Strange was practicing magic with Christine. Hearing about this matter, he felt very curious, so he followed along. Wanda did not refuse his request, because Strange would undoubtedly be their good helper in the future.

The group arrived at the Regeneration Cradle. Wanda used her chaos magic to examine Jane Foster's body. The Aether didn't resist Wanda's magic, so she easily completed the examination.

"This thing feels familiar! It's residing in Jane's body and draining her life force!" She lowered her hand and stated her findings.

Strange also began to recall the knowledge he had read in books. He had been studying for over a year. Although he hadn't yet used the Time Stone to read extensively, his knowledge base was already taking shape.

He quickly recalled similar substances described in the books. "The Aether!"

Everyone turned to look at him. Strange remembered the contents of the book.

"There are six Infinity Stones in the universe! You've already seen the Mind and Space Stones! What's inside her is the Aether, the only stone that exists in liquid form!"

"Infinity Stones?!! I didn't expect it to be inside Jane! How do we get it out?" Tony squinted.

"I don't know! It's not written in the books! It only says that a long, long time ago, the Dark Elves used the Aether as a weapon to try to rule the universe, but they were later wiped out!"

Strange shook his head, revealing everything he had read.

Natasha inquired, "The Dark Elves? Who wiped them out?"

Thor also recalled the stories he had heard as a child. "The Dark Elves, who originated from the boundless darkness, wanted to steal the light! I know this story, but it was said that the Aether was destroyed along with the Dark Elves!"

"Clearly not! Legends are rarely reliable!" Tony shrugged, looking at the scan and scoffing at the legend.

"But in these thousands of years, no one has seen the Dark Elves!" This involved the Dark Elves, which was a bit beyond Thor's knowledge. He regretted not listening to Frigga's stories more carefully when he was a child.

"Wanda, do you have a way to get it out?" Captain America looked at Wanda, who was dressed in a mage's robe, placing his hope in her.

"I'm not sure, I'll try! Stephen, keep an eye on things!" Wanda spread her hands, gathering chaos magic, and instructed Strange.

"Okay!" Strange waved his hand, creating a magical barrier that separated Wanda and Jane Foster from the others, preventing any accidental harm to those present.

Wanda extended her hand, and the chaos magic slowly began to attempt to extract the Aether from Jane's body.

The Aether didn't resist Wanda's power very much, but even so, Wanda proceeded with extreme caution, as Jane's life was at stake.

When she lived in Stark Tower, they often chatted. Jane often complained to her about Thor's shortcomings in life, which made her relationship with Jane very good.

So she absolutely didn't want anything to happen to Jane Foster.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly. Under Wanda's control, the Aether was drawn out of Jane Foster's body and hovered in the air, swirling.

Wanda signaled to Tony. Tony immediately opened the container he had prepared. Wanda guided the Aether into it, and Tony closed the container, sealing the Aether inside.

Looking at the Aether emitting a red glow inside the container, Wanda wiped the sweat from her forehead. She hadn't let everyone down.
