And Jaden? He wasn't going anywhere.
The drills were ruthless. Small-sided games, nonstop movement, no room for mistakes.
Jaden was locked in. No distractions.
Until she showed up.
Ava Sinclair.
Leaning against the fence, arms crossed, watching him. Again.
Jaden exhaled. He wasn't dealing with this today.
After training, as he grabbed his bag from the locker room, Ava strolled in.
Jaden sighed. "You're really making a habit of this."
Ava smirked. "I get bored easily."
Jaden shook his head. "Not my problem."
Ava stepped closer. "You know, Carter… you work so hard to stay in control."
Jaden's jaw clenched. "And?"
She leaned in slightly. "You ever think about what would happen if you let go?"
Jaden didn't move. Didn't react.
Because he knew Ava. She didn't chase weak men.
And right now? She wanted to see if she could break him.
Jaden exhaled. "Not interested."
Ava chuckled. "For now."
Then she turned and walked away.
