Jaden was still buzzing from the match when he got back to his dorm.
He pulled out his phone. One unread message.
Abby: Proud of you.
Jaden smirked, typing back.
Jaden: Always.
Before he could even put his phone down—a knock at the door.
Jaden sighed, stretching his sore muscles as he got up. Leo, probably.
He pulled the door open—and froze.
Ava.
Wearing an oversized hoodie and shorts.
Her arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Hey, Carter."
Jaden exhaled. He already knew this was trouble.
"What do you want, Sinclair?"
Ava tilted her head. "Relax. I just came to talk."
Jaden leaned against the doorframe. "Talk about what?"
Ava took a step closer. Too close.
"You," she murmured.
Jaden clenched his jaw.
Ava smirked, like she could read his mind. "You're always so controlled. So disciplined."
She brushed a finger along his wrist.
Jaden didn't move. Didn't react.
Ava's voice dropped lower. "You ever wonder what would happen if you let go?"
Jaden finally stepped back.
"I have someone waiting for me."
Ava's smirk didn't fade.
Instead, she just whispered—"For now."
Then she turned and walked away, leaving Jaden standing there, pulse pounding.
He clenched his fists.
This place was a fucking trap.
And if he wasn't careful?
It would destroy him.
