Chapter 9
Blaze woke up early the next morning, feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. He had decided to challenge Lucas to a spar, eager to test his skills and see how much he had improved.
However, when he approached Lucas, he was surprised to be turned down. Lucas was sitting on a bench, sipping a cup of water, and looked like he was conserving his energy.
"Hey, Lucas, I was thinking we could spar today," Blaze said, trying to sound casual.
Lucas looked up at him, a hint of a smile on his fiery face. "Sorry, Blaze, but I don't think that's a good idea."
Blaze raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Afraid of losing?"
Lucas chuckled. "No, it's not that. It's just that I need to conserve my strength for the trial tomorrow."
Blaze's eyes narrowed. "What trial?"
Lucas leaned in, a conspiratorial look on his face. "The trial to get into the Magic Knight school. The city is holding a series of trials to select the top candidates, and I'm planning to participate."
Blaze's eyes widened in surprise. He had heard of the Magic Knight school, but he had never thought that he would have a chance to attend.
"That sounds amazing," Blaze said, his mind racing with excitement. "But what's the catch?"
Lucas grinned. "The catch is that only 10 people from our city will be selected, and there are over 200 teenagers participating."
Blaze whistled. "Those are tough odds."
Lucas nodded. "Yeah, but I'm confident that I can make it in. And with the mayor's two children already getting two of the slots, that leaves only eight spots available."
Blaze's eyes narrowed. "I see. Well, I'm definitely going to participate."
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "You think you can make it in? You're not even close to my level."
Blaze smiled confidently. "We'll see about that."
As Blaze walked away, he felt a sudden surge of determination. He was going to participate in the trial, and he was going to make sure that he passed.
The system, sensing his determination, suddenly spoke up.
"Ding! Quest received: Pass the City Hall trial."
Blaze's eyes lit up with excitement. This was exactly the opportunity he had been waiting for.
But as he thought about the trial, he couldn't help but wonder how strong the other participants would be. He decided to use his Chaos Eye to check Lucas' mystic status.
Name: Lucas
Phase: Foundation Phase Stage 4
Essence: Beast
....
Blaze's eyes narrowed as he tried to see more, but everything else was a blur. It seemed that he needed to upgrade his Chaos Eye to see more details.
He decided to check on Nephis next, wondering if she would be participating in the trial. He found her cultivating under the giant tree at the back of the house, her eyes closed in concentration.
Blaze watched her for a moment, feeling a pang of curiosity. He had never seen her train before, and he wondered what her mystic status was.
He decided to use his Chaos Eye again, focusing on Nephis.
Name: Nephis
Phase: Foundation Phase Stage 7
Essence: Elemental
Magic Core: Water, Wind, Fire
Blaze's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Nephis' mystic status. She was incredibly strong, far surpassing him in every way.
He felt a surge of embarrassment as he realized that he had underestimated her. He had thought that she was weak, but it seemed that she was actually a rare genius.
It is well known that people strength differs based on their mystic phase and their stages. Not only that but she really has triple elemental magic core an extremely rare factor. Which just add more to how strong and talented she is.
As he watched her, Nephis suddenly opened her eyes and looked straight at him. Blaze felt a jolt of surprise and quickly looked away, trying to act nonchalant.
But Nephis just smiled and went back to cultivating her mystic essence , leaving Blaze feeling embarrassed and confused.
As he walked away, Blaze couldn't help but think that he needed to be more careful around Nephis. He didn't want to offend her, not when she was so much stronger than him.
He decided to focus on his training, determined to catch up to Nephis and Lucas. He was going to participate in the trial, and he was going to make sure that he passed.
