Swoo~ Swoo~
"Peaceful, to say the least." I relaxed under the afternoon sun, enjoying the gentle, warm breeze of summer. At least, I assumed it was summer but figuring out the season wasn't exactly my biggest priority.
'I guess I've thought long enough. There really is only one immediately viable option.'
I waved my right hand in a light chopping motion. In an instant, a green-gold translucent rectangular board appeared in front of me. It kind of felt like I was in SAO, but I knew I wasn't.
[Choose Starter Path!]
- [The Honored One: Start with Limitless, end with Six Eyes.]
- [The King of Curses: Start with Shrine, end with Cursed Ascendance.]
- [The One Who Left It All Behind: Start with Weapon Master, end with Heavenly Restriction.]
The first and last paths were good in their own right—especially the latter, since its Heavenly Restriction effects were reversed. Meaning the more Cursed Energy I had, the stronger my body would become, kind of like Dragon Ball or later Naruto.
As for the obvious "Satoru Gojo" path, Limitless without Six Eyes was crippling. Not that it couldn't be done, but it was too difficult, and I really didn't want to gamble with my second life. Dying once because some motherfucker couldn't drive was enough!
With no more hesitation, I chose The King of Curses path—Sukuna's path.
'Why didn't this system just say the names? Why give the titles instead...?' I shook my head and waited.

[Starting.]
"F-FUCK, OF COURSE!" I clutched my head in agony. My very existence was in pain—like someone was branding me with a heavenly curse while stabbing my soul with a million needles.
Minute by minute, it got worse. With each passing second, I was getting closer to passing out.

"T-hah~ Tha-Hah~ Thank god."
[Please refer to Status after this brief explanation.]
[Welcome to the world of Danmachi.]
'Huh. Danmachi? Wasn't that an anime or something?'
I couldn't remember it too well, but I think it was. I remember not wanting to try it because it seemed ridiculous, but I'd heard the original source material was WAY better. Which is how it usually goes.
[You have been given a new body based on your favorite character. You have also been given their name, along with the Jujutsu Kaisen System.]
'I see. So just Jujutsu Kaisen, huh? I thought maybe I'd only start with it and expand, but this is good regardless!'
I didn't waste time worrying about meaningless details. The most important thing was that I was alive—and given a second chance.
[How the System Works]
[1.] Physical stats must be trained manually.
[2.] Skill levels must be trained manually.
[3.] A shop feature is available.
[4.] Quests and sub-quests will always grant shop currency or a 50/50 chance between unlocking a random skill or earning regular skill points.
[5.] Skills can be unlocked via the skill tree using skill points. Only Jujutsu Kaisen-related abilities can be unlocked this way. However, skills granted through quests and sub-quests may include both General Skills and Jujutsu Kaisen skills.
[6.] You are unable to learn Danmachi-specific skills for yourself.
[7.] Each rank has a level cap. Once reached, all you have to do is click Rank Up and pass the trial.
'Simple enough!' A real relief that it wasn't anything complicated.
I clicked the tree icon in the system, and a wonderfully simplistic screen came into view. Before, it had just been text, but after the explanation finished, more options appeared. My first instinct was to check out the tree button.
A variety of large circles with symbols filled the screen, but most were greyed out—except for one. The only active one had a Shinto Shrine symbol, glowing with a green-golden hue. Branches stretched out in every direction, interconnecting skills within the shrine's circle and linking to other major circles.
[Notice: To unlock minor skills, either unlock the category they belong to or unlock connected skills through the various branches.]
'Sweet! That means I can unlock multiple major categories if I want.'
I continued scrolling, exploring the skill tree. Everything was related to Jujutsu Kaisen, featuring various techniques and abilities pulled straight from its system.
Still, I returned to my current path for now, temporarily disregarding the others. Clicking on the Shrine icon, a short prompt popped up.
[Shrine: Necessary for this path's skills.]
'Short and sweet. Much better than a long-winded explanation!'
Swoo~
A warm breeze blew past, causing strands of my hair to block my vision. That's when I noticed something important about myself!
'Long, light green hair…?!'
I quickly clicked through the other boxes on the system panel until my Status screen appeared.
[Partial Status; Level up to Level 1 for full status]
- Name: Enkidu
- Race: Cursed Object
- Titles: [The one created by heaven] [The king of curses]
- HP: 250/250
- Cursed Energy: 400/400
"Enkidu?!" I stood up in shock. I had been lying down before, so I never noticed my hair, but now that I finally paid attention, it was plain as day. Everything about me was different!
I felt stronger, nimbler, faster, and like my brain could process more information. I definitely didn't feel like a normal human. Oh—
I wasn't human anymore.
'A cursed object… well, that actually made the most sense to me. Enkidu was a weapon created to counter Gilgamesh, and cursed objects were just artifacts infused with immense cursed energy. It all added up. Technically, Enkidu could be classified as an object, having been forged from clay by the gods. But what if, instead of divine magic shaping me, I had been reconstructed through cursed energy by… the system?
I technically was a soul that died, and death was an immensely negative emotion… well, not that it's an emotion, but let's call it a negative event. Cursed energy is negative energy, and the system could very well be the reason this all even makes sense.'
The connection was clicking into place. The only question I had was—why Danmachi?
