[A/N: First chapter of this volume, we will see new problems for the protagonist. He will have fights with zombies, Wow, finally. although technically they are not real (they are dreams), hahaha
Thank you all for reading my novel, and commenting.
Such a short author's note? How strange]
In the house.
I had sat down far from the couch where our guest was. The awkwardness I felt after the previous interaction about clothes from earlier was overwhelming me; I didn't understand how it had come to that, since I was only trying to help. Now, I realize that I must have looked like a pervert for bringing him that kind of stuff. To escape the awkward situation and stop thinking about it, I decided to start preparing lunch.
Guest POV
After that embarrassing moment, I didn't know what to say to him. At first, I didn't misinterpret him, but my mind started to wander, imagining things I shouldn't. Also, I didn't know how to respond or understand his intentions; after all, it was the first time a man had given me underwear.
Suddenly, he noticed my bewildered expression, and, with a somewhat annoying tone, he assured me that he had no bad intentions. I guess he thought I was judging him for what he had done, but I just felt embarrassed and speechless. Then, she moved a little further away from the couch.
"Is he upset by my reaction?", I thought as I glanced at him. He didn't seem too upset. I hoped he wouldn't hold a grudge and decide to kick me out of the house.
Protagonist POV
Some time had passed, maybe an hour since I started cooking. I hadn't said anything to her, and she hadn't tried to talk to me either. I guess we would both try to bury that embarrassing moment in our memories while there was still time together.
As we cleared the table with the day's food, I decided to put a little less on her plate, as a kind of punishment for thinking badly of me. "It's not that I'm resentful, but she should know that every mistake has its consequences", I mused, trying to console myself for the childishness of my action.
"It's time to eat", I said as I approached the couch. I sat down next to her to help her get up and move towards the table. She stood up and began to walk leaning on me, although this time it was a little further away than before.
"I guess she still feels uncomfortable", I thought as we walked slowly.
As we reached the table, she looked at our plates and let out a small laugh at what I had done. I'm not sure if my face blushed, but I'm sure I felt embarrassed. "This situation of not being able to move freely is really getting to me," I thought as I began to eat. Fortunately, she didn't mention what had happened and enjoyed her meal with appetite.
We both took our time eating, and during that time, no conversation arose. Even though we exchanged glances from time to time, neither of us seemed willing to break the silence.
Once we were done, I helped her back to the couch. I went back to the kitchen to tidy up and clean up, leaving everything in perfect condition. I went upstairs and took out a box that was under my bed and was surprised to discover that it was full of weapons, a bit of everything.
Inside, I found a variety of firearms and bladed weapons. There were several small-caliber pistols, a couple of shotguns, and even an AK-47 machine gun. There were also other items that I couldn't identify, since I'm not an expert on the subject.
On the other hand, the box contained many knives and pocketknives. I found a couple of axes, some machetes, and even a katana, which really surprised me. In addition, there were support items such as steel wires, handcuffs, restraints, and portable radios.
I decided to take a good-sized knife, a pistol with an extra magazine, and a radio. I put it all in a small bag that I had on hand, thinking that approaching her with the weapons in plain sight would not be the best idea.
I went downstairs and placed the bag next to her.
"Do you know how to use it?", I asked as I took out the pistol and placed it on her legs. I didn't want to scare her by holding it directly in front of her.
[A/N: I think that knowing how to handle a weapon is something that everyone should have, or at least in a zombie apocalypse, what do you think?]
"Mmmm. . . I know how it works, but I've never used it", she replied, a little hesitant at first. She seemed a little scared and hesitated to answer but slowly began to take the gun in her hand.
"Gun Safe, trigger, sight, and barrel", I explained, pointing to each of the gun's parts.
"Ok", she replied immediately.
"Put the safety on and pretend you're going to shoot at it", I suggested, pointing to a vase that remained untouched.
At first, she looked at me suspiciously, as if wondering if I was trying to test her. I understood her uncertainty; giving a stranger a gun in an apocalypse is not the best idea. But after a brief moment, noticing that I was waiting for her, she took the gun in a light grip and pointed it at the vase.
"Hold it more firmly and stretch your arms to avoid any accidents", I advised, while she looked at me for approval. He adjusted his stance and held the gun more securely.
"Good", I told her, acknowledging her improvement. She smiled at me in response.
I pulled the knife out of the bag and set it beside her. I then picked up the radio and handed it to her.
"Channel 10. Just in case of emergency", I instructed as I turned on the radio. She nodded, seeming to be focused on everything that was happening.
Once I handed her everything she might need, I returned to the second floor to get my backpack. I prepared some emergency rations and stuffed some bags in, as I planned to go out and get supplies outside the village.
I went down to the first floor and added a bottle of water to the backpack. I also grabbed my spear along with a pistol I had in hand. Seeing the gun, I remembered it was the same one I had found next to the bodies in the first house I checked.
"Wait for me here. And remember, finger on the trigger only if you want to shoot", I told her as I looked at her seriously. She just nodded in response, with an equally serious look.
"Be careful", she said to me in a worried tone as I closed the door.
Without taking too long, I began to walk away from the house towards the back exit, which would be the place where I found her before. I reached the back gate that was open, but with cars in front that somewhat blocked the way. I checked the access road, looking around without missing any details, and when I saw that there was nothing dangerous, I began to walk west down the street.
I moved forward along the street, walking on the sidewalk side, but not very close to the entrances of buildings and stores, I suppose it was to avoid being ambushed by the creatures that could come out of them to attack me. Also, I stopped from time to time to check the surroundings, considering the road that remained to be traveled, as well as how far I had come.
At first, I thought she was looking for supplies in the food stores, but I did not enter any of them. It could have been to avoid possible dangers, but there were shops that were clearly empty of people or other dangers, and yet I didn't go in. Apparently, the medicines weren't what I was looking for.
What I could notice was that as we advanced, we got closer and closer to the center of the city. The buildings became larger, apartments, offices, even on the side streets I managed to spot a large shopping center.
I was unsure of what our objective would be until we passed in front of a pharmacy and stopped. I didn't understand why there was a need for medicines, when we helped our guests, I could see that there was a large quantity of medicines.
When we were at the entrance, from outside it was noticeable that the place had been ransacked, but not completely. Before entering, at the door, I gathered a couple of things that were on the street that could be very noisy if they were thrown or crashed against the ground.
"Just what I feared", I thought as I heard the noise produced at the entrance of the pharmacy.
I waited a bit, hidden from things that could come out from inside. I also looked around to see if anything appeared. Once I was sure there were no dangers, I entered the pharmacy taking out the bags I had prepared beforehand.
I took many basic necessities in a bag. I put in the bag; Shampoo, creams of all kinds, personal hygiene items, even some things that women need in times of trouble.
I filled a second bag with vitamin supplements, painkillers, anti-inflammatories, among other things. I also filled a second bag with emergency support items such as bandages, stabilizing splints, gauze, lots of alcohol, among other things.
I also found some machines and items that could help in some specific situations, but that were very difficult for one person to carry. However, I tried to move these things so that the next people would not take them. I was very careful to hide a defibrillator that they had hidden in the back area of the pharmacy, I hid it in a ventilation duct. It could be very useful in the right hands.
Once I made sure I had everything I needed, I left the pharmacy carrying the bags, and from how slowly I was moving, I could see that it was not easy to carry all that weight. I moved slowly, without losing the habit of checking the surroundings, the way back did not seem complicated.
"It can't be… My bad luck follows me even in my dreams", I thought as soon as I saw a group of people in the distance. They were slowly moving in our direction; they seemed quite battered.
"Then they are definitely zombies", I thought when they were closer, and I could see their characteristics.
These at first glance were, to my good fortune, very similar to those in TWD, at least physically. They were not mutated zombies with deformities, or the kind controlled by some fungus or plant, they were humans who had come back to life with their functions reduced. They moved slowly, some limped, others only walked with short steps, some even had missing body parts. One detail that made them similar was that most of them had blood on their faces and clothes.
"Surely they have attacked someone before", I thought with a little sadness.
Without being alarmed, I entered one of the stores quietly so as not to attract attention. The bags were left at the entrance of it, and I went further inside checking that there was nothing inside.
"They should give me a prize for my bad luck", I thought as I watched one of them get up from the ground.
[A/N: Finally a zombie!
Our protagonist is face to face with a zombie, and we will see an epic battle, I'm lying, he will kill him easily.
What do you think of zombie mutations?
In the case of TWD, I find the physical evolutions a bit absurd, for example, that they become twice as big, how could a biologically dead body evolve? I find it absurd.
I understand it for other types of zombies, but I find that type of evolution strange. However, I would find the xxxxxx type of evolution more appropriate.
Comment what you think of the evolutions.]
