Chapter 1 - The beginning

**Oliver** is a seventeen-year-old boy with blue eyes that shimmer like the ocean and striking red hair that falls in sharp, fiery waves, framing his handsome yet distinctive features.

Oliver woke up to a sound that seemed distant yet echoed loudly in his ears—the haunting call of **"Tayo"** resonating from the west, like a thunderous roar from another world.

After washing up, Oliver descended the creaky wooden stairs to join his aunt for breakfast.

"Good morning, Oliver. Did you find peace in your dreams last night, or did the worries of the future still chase you?" asked his aunt, her voice as gentle as a summer breeze.

His aunt, **Mary Stewart**, was a woman in her thirties with golden blonde hair that cascaded like sunlight and calm, serene eyes that had always been a source of comfort for Oliver. She had cared for him since he could remember, her kindness a constant in his life.

"Yes, Auntie," Oliver replied, his voice tinged with both gratitude and restlessness. "Though my excitement kept me awake for a while, I managed to get enough sleep."

Oliver attended school, and the time was nearing when the best students would be chosen to join the **Legion**—a prestigious opportunity for most his age. Glory, wealth, the chance to become a protector or knight, and even the possibility of earning a noble title were all within reach. For Oliver, however, money was his primary concern. Living a modest life, he dreamed of easing the burden on his aunt, who had been worn down by years of hardship.

The **Black Legion** was a symbol of strength and protection, gathering the mightiest warriors in the kingdom to safeguard the land and noble families.

"So, are you heading to school?" asked his aunt, her eyes filled with a mixture of pride and concern.

"Yes, Auntie," Oliver replied, his determination evident in his voice.

After breakfast, Oliver set off for **Lyon Hart School**. Like most schools, it focused on two main pillars: academics and physical training.

On his way to school, Oliver passed through the bustling market.

"Delicious potatoes, fresh from the earth!"

"Fresh fish! Buy three kilos and get a discount!"

The cries of vendors filled the air, their voices a symphony of hope and desperation.

In a town where poverty gripped most residents and prices soared, the vendors tried to sell whatever they could to fill their stomachs and keep their dreams alive.

As Oliver walked, his eyes fell upon a house that stood out like a jewel amidst the humble village—a three-story mansion surrounded by an iron fence and guarded by stern-looking sentinels. This was the mayor's residence, a stark reminder of the divide between the powerful and the poor.

The town of **Bath** lay to the east of the royal capital, **Eden**. It was a small town, reliant on hunting the monsters that roamed the surrounding lands—a dangerous but profitable endeavor—as well as trade and other means of survival.
