Chereads / SHADOWS OF TAYO / Chapter 4 - Skybound

Chapter 4 - Skybound

Oliver filled his plate with some food. Currently, the town of **Bath** was experiencing a period of prosperity, especially after successful hunting expeditions due to the abundance of prey.

He chose a seaweed salad along with some of the available meat, then carried his plate to his seat. He felt the warmth of the dish in his hands, while the aroma of roasted meat and fresh herbs filled the air.

Oliver sat with his friend, who had chosen silver lamb meat—his favorite dish—by the window overlooking the outside. The clinking of spoons and plates echoed in the background, mingling with the laughter of students discussing their day.

Oliver glanced outside, where the massive **Skybound** shimmered under the crimson twilight, casting long shadows over the city that seemed to glimmer under the moonlight. In the distance, Oliver saw the **Skybound**, the great dome that allowed humans to survive in this frozen hell.

The majestic dome rose high into the sky, its intricate metal pipes glinting under the twilight, like a giant spiderweb enveloping the city. With a transparent white hue, the **Skybound** was connected to the island of **Tayo** through massive metal pipes that flowed with heat like lifeblood.

With a deep sigh, Oliver felt a wave of awe as he gazed at the **Skybound**. "No matter how many times I see it, it never fails to amaze me," he whispered, as if speaking more to himself than to his friend.

"Yes, it's a miracle," his friend replied. "I wonder how it was built and placed there."

Before humans settled in **Bath**, these domes surrounded every major city in the kingdom. They protected humans from monster invasions and made life possible in this infernal world.

Oliver stuffed his mouth with a few bites of food, while the aroma of roasted meat and fresh herbs filled the air, making him feel warm and content. He thought about his schedule for the day: after the practical lessons, he would head home to help his aunt with household chores.

After feeling satisfied with the food, Oliver picked up his plate, placed it in its designated spot, and headed toward the training hall.

**"What will you do now, Augustus?"** Oliver asked with concern.

**"Maybe I'll go... I don't feel well."**

With a skeptical look, Oliver said, **"Well, You've always hated training, haven't you?"**

Augustus chuckled lightly, then left with a wave of his hand. **"I need some rest!"**

Oliver entered the spacious hall, where the scent of old wood filled the air, and wooden training swords were neatly placed on the racks. He grabbed a wooden sword, his heart pounding, glancing at the hall filled with teenagers preparing for training.
