(Year X770)
Makarov watched as Porlyusica checked on the boy he had brought to her. This was the boy Rosinante had given his life to save.
"How is he?" asked Makorov with a saddened face. Porlyusica said nothing as she treated the boy's various cuts and scraps. "He's going to be fine. He's a bit malnourished but it's nothing to worry about." Porlyusica informed the guild master as she turned to face him with a curious gaze. "You want to tell me where you found him?"
Makarov looked at her and debated whether to tell her or not. Revealing anything about the boy will also force him to reveal the task that was given to one of his children by the magic council which is supposed to be confidential.
With a heavy sigh, Makarov decided to tell her everything. "A couple of years ago the magic council had approached me about an upcoming and dangerous dark guild. They had almost no information about them. All they had was the name of the guild: The Donquixote Family."
A surprised look took over Porlyusica's face. "Donquixote? Isn't that Rosinante's last name? How is he related to a dark guild?"
"That was the reason the magic council approached me with this information. When I asked Rosinante he revealed to me that the guild master is most likely his older brother: Donquixote Doflamingo. They had been separated for years but he assured me that his brother was the one behind the dark guild." Makorov continued to explain what had transpired to Porlyusica as they moved to the living room to let the sleeping boy rest.
"Given how Rosinante was not a famous wizard and not many people knew his name or face, the council had given him the task of infiltrating and spying on his brother's dark guild for them. He was to assess their strength, influence, and the location of their guildhall." A saddened look was on Makorov's face as he recalled the events that had transpired.
"Rosinante had been reporting to me whenever he would find something. One of his reports was about young children that were brought into the guild due to their magic and magic power. The boy, Law was one of them. I was told that his magic was quite rare but I don't know what it is exactly. When Rosinante found out, he was adamant in getting the boy as far away from his brother as possible." A silence had befallen Makarov.
"What happened?" Porlyusica asked with a concerned look on her face.
"All I know is that he had managed to get Law away and I was going to meet with him at Mount Hakobe. But I was too late. When I got to our meeting spot I only found Law passed out with tears drenching his face. I picked him up and looked for Rosinante, only to find his cold corpse riddled with bullets." Makorov had tears streaming his face at the thought of his dead child. He had failed to save one of his children and the guilt was eating at him.
Saddened, Porlyusica didn't know what to say or how to comfort her grieving teammate. She wasn't good at this kind of thing. It's why she had preferred to live alone in her treehouse away from other humans.
"Do you think maybe Law knows what happened?" She asked
Makorov took a minute to dry his tears and looked back at Porlyusica. "I don't know. All we can do now is wait for him to awaken and hope that he can shed some light on what took place."
A heavy sigh escaped from Makorov as he got up and started to head out of the treehouse." I have to get back to the guild. Let me know when Law wakes up."
(scene change)
As Makarov made his way back to his guild, a meeting of the four executive officers and the guild master of The Donquixote Family was taking place.
Gathered around a table that was filled with food were Trebol, Diamante, Pica, Vergo, and finally Donquixote Doflamingo.
A stern silence filled the room. No one was making a noise seeing how angry Doflamingo looked. Having murdered his brother after finding out he was a spy for the magic council has greatly enraged him. What's even more infuriating was the fact that he lost Law. A sign of his anger was the many veins threatening to burst out of his forehead.
Reigning his anger in, Doflamingo addresses Vergo."Good work exposing that traitor Vergo. You said that he was going to give away valuable intel on us. I assume you stopped that from happening?"
"I did. The intel he had included the location of our headquarters, the dark guilds under us, and our strengths." Responded Vergo with a solemn expression.
"What about Law? Do you know where he is?" Asked Doflamingo.
"I'm afraid not. Law was the one who gave me the intel. We had known there was a spy among us but I never would have thought it was him. Law then told me where Corazon was, and then I knocked him out on the spot and left him there. I went to find the spy only to find Corazon, that's when I put two and two together. I defeated him easily and brought him to you. I didn't know that boy was the one you were looking for Joker so I left him there and decided dealing with the spy took priority. I apologize for letting him get away." Vergo spoke to Doflamingo about what transpired on Mount Hakobe.
"It's fine Vergo. For now return back to your post withing the magic council. Law will seek me out on his own in the future, and when he does he will fulfill his purpose to me." Doflamingo smirks wildly while raising his arms to the side and releases a villanous laugh.
"FUHAHAHAHAHAHAFFFFUFUFUFAHAHAHAHA. HE WILL PUT THAT MAGIC OF HIS THAT HASN'T BEEN SEEN IN CENTURIES TO GOOD USE AND MAKE ME IMMORTAL. THEN I WILL KILL BOTH ZEREF AND ACNOLOGIA AND I WILL RULE THIS WORLD. FUHAHAHAHAHAHAFFFFUFUFUFAHAHAHAHA."
The Executive officers around the table join their guild master each with their own unique laugh. Except Vergo.
(scene change) (time skip 3 days)
Porlyusica was on her way to check Law's condition. The boy had been unconscious for the past three days. She had given him proper medical care and attached a fluid bag to him.
As she entered the room she found Law sitting up and quickly looked at her.
"You're finally awake. Tell me. What's the last thing you remember.?" Porlyusica asked the boy as he just stared at her.
Law sprang off the bed and blurted a bunch of questions. "Who are you? Where am I? How long have I been out? And Where is Cora?"
Porlyusica sighed. "Good grief. You just woke up and you're already annoying. Just wait in bed. There is someone that needs to speak with you." She said to Law as she left the room to contact Makarov.
An hour passed and Makarov arrived along with Gildarts to speak with Law.
As they entered the room, Law looked at the short old man Law asked them a question. "Who's the short, bald, old man?"
"BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Gildarts fell to the ground laughing hysterically as Makorov's mouth hung wide open with a shocked look on his face.
"HE...ASKED THAT...WITH... SUCH A STRAIGHT FACE" Gildarts barely managed to say between his laughs.
Porlyusica was not amused. Not one bit.
"Ahem. My name is Makorov, the master of the Fairy Tail guild. The fool on the ground is Gildarts he is a member of Fairy Tail." Regaining his composure Makorov introduced himself to Law.
Getting back to his feet Gildarts simply waved at Law.
"The person you know was Corazon was also a member of Fairy Tail." Makorov continued. "We were hoping you could shed some light on a few things Law."
Law was surprised to hear that Cora was part of a magic guild. A light magic guild at that. "You're lying. Cora was a member of The Donquixote Family. A dark guild. He wasn't part of a light guild." Law said with a look of anger on his face, thinking they were deceiving him.
They all looked at Law with a soft gaze on their faces. It would be Gildarts that breaks the silence. "I'm afraid you're wrong kid. Corazon or his actual name which is Rosinante, was a member of the Fairy Tail guild. He was tasked with a mission to infiltrate The Donquixote Family and spy on them."
To say Law was surprised would be an understatement. He never would have guessed that Cora or Rosinante would be a spy for a light guild.
"We know this might be a shock to you kid. But we need to know what happened to him. The master went to meet with him and pick you up along with the intel that he had acquired. But he found you unconscious and found Rosinante filled with holes." Gildarts spoke firmly to Law. He didn't want to force the kid to remember such a traumatic experience but they all had to know what happened.
Law had a shocked look on his face. "What do you mean?" Law asked. "Cora is... Cora is... dead?" Law had started to cry.
All three were shocked at this.
"You didn't know" Porlyusica said with a surprised tone to her voice.
It would be Makorov who comforts Law by putting his coat on Law's shoulders to let him know the world hasn't ended.
"I know that you are hurting Law. And I am truly sorry for what happened. But we need you to tell us what happened to Rosinante." Makarov said in a heartwarming tone and a soft look on his face to the young man. Law looked at him and nodded.
"I-I'm not sure. Cora gave me a piece of paper and told me to go to a meeting spot and give the paper to whoever was there. When I got to the meeting spot I found someone waiting there. I assumed that's who I was supposed to meet with and gave him the paper. After he read it he had me tell him where Cora was and then he gut punched me, next thing I know I'm waking up here." Law looked down with a saddened face as tears escaped his eyes.
Before he could continue Gildarts interrupted with a question."Wait why couldn't he have just come with you? Why did he send you to the meeting spot alone?"
It was Makorov who answered. "He had told me that the others were starting to suspect a spy was among them. Rosinante didn't know if he was being followed or not. Not wanting to take a risk by meeting with me directly he instead sent Law with the intel he had gathered. That's what he told me the last time he had checked in." A guilt-ridden look had taken over Makorov as he thought about Rosinante.
"Law do you remember anything about the guy that kocked you out?" Asked Gildarts
Law shook his head.
With a tearful face, Law started letting out his grievances. "You know, when I met Cora for the first time, he... he threw me out of a window. He would always do something stupid to me. He would always hit me kick me or push me out of the window. It wasn't until after he found out what my magic was did he revealed that he could talk. He would sometimes take me on these journeys where he would teach me how to properly use my magic. One night while he thought I was asleep and he had been drinking he... he told me that watching me fall into the same darkness that his brother had fallen to was killing him on the inside. He... he said that he wants me to leave The Donquixote Family and to walk my own path in the light. He...he...he" Law broke down crying and screaming his heart out.
Makorov embraced the boy encouraging him to let it all out and that he will feel better when he does.
Slowly but surely Law started to quiet down and was out like a light.
"Kid's got a set of lungs on him." Said Gildarts with a gentle smirk on his face." So.. what now boss?"
"Let's take him to Fairy Tail. I'm sure Rosinante would want that for him." Makarov said as he picked Law up and carried him and headed for the door.
"Do you think he will join the guild?" Gildarts asked as he followed.
"Let's ask him when he wakes up. Goodbye, Porlyusica and thanks for your help." Exclaimed Makorov as he made his way out of the treehouse.
Law was fast asleep on the back of Makorov heading to what would soon become his home.
