Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Family Gathering

London, Kensington District, Lingxiao Garden

Lingxiao Garden is a famous high-end residential area in London. The people living here are either rich or noble, and it is definitely an affluent area.

At eight o'clock in the evening, in the living room of a certain household, several people were having dinner around the dining table.

"Sebastian, how are your parents?" A woman asked. She was Sebastian's aunt, named Elizabeth Gray.#

Sebastian, replied, "They are doing great. They travel all over Europe every day. They are much more energetic than I am."

"Alas, why work so hard? As long as there is enough money to spend, what's the use of having a lot of money if you're not at home every day?" Elizabeth was a bit sentimental, and there was a hint of sarcasm towards a middle-aged man beside her between the lines of her words.

"Cough, cough, well, Sebastian, after you came back this time, will you go back to the Ministry of the Interior?" The middle-aged man, Mark Gray, immediately changed the subject.

"It's hard to say. But I probably won't be able to go back in the short term. You don't know, there's a rather powerful criminal who has appeared in London recently. I definitely can't leave until this guy is caught."

"What's going on?" A teenager around sixteen or seventeen years old immediately asked, looking very interested. He was Sebastian's cousin, Alex Gray.

Sebastian looked at his cousin with a smile and said mysteriously, "It's a secret."

"Brother, just tell me. Don't worry, I'll definitely keep it a secret!"

"Alex, don't be naughty. Can you just ask about such things casually?" Mark immediately scolded Alex when he saw him being naughty.

So, this topic was skipped over. After chatting for a while, Elizabeth asked, "Sebastian, haven't you got a girlfriend yet?"

Sebastian spread his hands and said, "Aunt, you know that I'm lazy. I'm too lazy to fall in love."

"You should get married when you reach a certain age. Even if you don't think about yourself, you should think about your parents, right?" Elizabeth persuaded.

There was no way to avoid it. With a turn of his eyes, Sebastian had a good idea. He immediately pointed to the side and said, "Aunt, let's not talk about me first. Isabella is almost 30 years old. As her younger brother, I'm worried about her!"

Sure enough, as soon as these words were spoken, Elizabeth stopped caring about Sebastian and let out a sigh, "Alas! None of you can make me feel at ease." As she spoke, she looked at Isabella and said in a firm tone, "You must go to the social dance this week."

Isabella is 28 years old this year. She is tall, has delicate facial features, and with her long golden hair, she is very pleasing to the eye. Coupled with her superior family background, she has a natural air of nobility and is definitely a beautiful woman.

Upon hearing this, she didn't even look up and said, "I'm not going."

"Look at your age. People of your age already have children who are in primary school. If you don't get married soon, who will be willing to marry you when you get older?"

"Then I won't get married."

"All right, stop talking. Marriage is not a joke. My daughter can decide her own marriage affairs." Mark suddenly interrupted.

As soon as she heard these words, Elizabeth's tears instantly welled up, and she felt a sense of sadness in her heart, "Fine. You're all so open-minded, and I'm the feudal and unreasonable one, okay? Who am I doing all this for? Wuuu..."

Seeing her mother so sad, Isabella felt sorry for her and said with tears in her eyes, "Stop crying, Mom. I promise you, okay?"

Immediately, Elizabeth stopped crying and stared at Isabella intently, asking for confirmation, "Really?"

Isabella nodded.

So, Elizabeth began to discuss with everyone to see who would be a suitable match.

At this time, Alex suggested, "Our math teacher is nice. He's tall and handsome, and he's really kind. We all like him a lot."

"A teacher? That's decent. What's his name and how old is he?"

"I don't know how old he is. He should be younger than sister. His name is Victor Black."

London, St. George's College

Victor Black naturally didn't know Sebastian Gray, nor did he know that his opponent had arrived, and he definitely didn't know that this enemy of his lifetime was at that moment thinking about how to drag him to a social dance. His mind was all on the parents' meeting tomorrow.

For Victor, revenge and life were separated. When facing revenge, he was extremely serious; the same was true when facing life.

The next day, the parents' meeting was held as scheduled

"George is a serious and self-disciplined student when it comes to his studies. There's nothing much to criticize. From the fact that you've raised such a child, it can be seen that you've put in a lot of effort. If I really have to say where there's room for improvement, it's that he has too much self-esteem. Sometimes, even when he clearly knows he's made a mistake, he's not very willing to admit it. But this is also a minor issue. Which teenager isn't a bit headstrong? Right?"

"Emma is well-behaved, obedient, and kind-hearted. She's a very nice girl. It's just that she lacks interest in studying. She's okay with math, and she's quite serious about it. But for other subjects..."

"Lily..."

Facing each parent one by one, Victor patiently communicated, striving to solve the students' problems while also trying not to hurt the children and their parents as much as possible. He really put in a great deal of effort.

As time passed, there were fewer and fewer people in the classroom. Finally, Sebastian came and sat down in front of Victor.

"Alex's cousin, Sebastian Gray." Sebastian smiled and reached out his hand.

"Hello." The two shook hands gently and then let go.

"What about Alex?..." Victor asked.

"Teacher Victor, are you free tomorrow evening?" Sebastian asked directly.

Victor was a bit puzzled and looked at Sebastian.

Sebastian smiled and said, "Oh, it's like this. Alex's parents couldn't come today because they had something to do. They asked me to apologize to you. At the same time, they wanted to ask if you have time tomorrow evening to come to our place and have a detailed talk about Alex's problems. You may not know that Alex's parents care a lot about his studies, which is why they made this request. Of course, if this will bother you, it's okay. Just pretend I didn't say anything."

Victor didn't reply directly but turned his head and gestured to the other teachers.

"Oh, the other teachers will also be invited one by one." Sebastian added.

Victor nodded. He didn't want to go at all, but he still had to maintain appearances. So, he said reluctantly, "Mr. Sebastian, I'm really sorry. Of course, I'd like to communicate more with Alex's parents, but unfortunately, I have evening self-study classes tomorrow evening, so..."

"It doesn't matter. I'll take care of this." Before Victor could finish speaking, Sebastian immediately assured him and instantly stood up and ran out in a few steps.

In less than a minute, Sebastian ran back again and said with a smile, "Okay, someone else will take over the evening self-study class tomorrow evening. It's settled then. Sorry, Teacher Victor. I have something urgent to attend to, so I'll be leaving now. I'll come to pick you up after school tomorrow."

After saying that, before Victor could say anything, he grabbed Alex and ran away without hesitation. In the blink of an eye, they were out of sight.

Watching Sebastian's back disappear, Victor frowned secretly.

"This Sebastian should be working in the government. Either he holds a rather high position himself, or his family has strong connections. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to persuade the principal to change my class so quickly. Also, inviting me to Alex's home should be more than just a home visit. There must be other purposes. What could they be? Well, forget it. As long as he has no ill intentions towards me, that's fine."

After thinking for a while and getting no conclusion, he decided to put it aside for the time being. He would naturally find out tomorrow. At least, he was sure that he hadn't been exposed, and that was enough. As for other things, they were all minor matters.
