Chereads / The blind Samurai / Chapter 2 - Sujiro

Chapter 2 - Sujiro

Elemental Nation

Land of Iron

In one of the orphanages in the Land of Iron, a 10-year-old blind boy sat cross-legged and was meditating. His name is Sujiro; he is an orphan.

Sujiro was wearing a black kimono; he had long black hair that reached his shoulder, fair skin, and a skinny physique.

The most distenctive feature of Sujiro is his white eyes, which prove he is a blind boy.

Sujiro's father was a samurai in the Land of Iron, and he died while protecting the Damyo, and his mother died while giving birth to him.

Sujiro sighed in sadness while meditating and said to himself, "I did awful things in my past life. I need to redeem myself."

In the early years of his life, Sujiro discovered that he has the ability to sense the presence of other living beings, so he started familiarizing himself and honing this ability.

After years of honing this ability, Sujiro now can sense other people's intent, emotions, and strength, and his sensing range has expanded a lot.

Thanks for his hard work in honing his sensing ability Sujiro discovered a source of energy that dwelled deep inside of him, and he decided to experiment with this energy.

Sujiro discovered that he could control metals if he used this energy, so he decided to familiarize himself with this energy and hone his control over it.

Suddenly Sujiro sensed the presence of the head of the orphanage heading his way.

When the door of his room opened, a woman in her mid-forties entered the room. She smiled warmly at Sujiro and said to him, "Sujiro Kun, you have a visitor."

Sujiro was surprised when he heard this, and he asked, "A visitor?"

The head of the orphanage nodded her head and said, "Yes, let's go, Sujiro. It's rude to keep the guest waiting."

Sujiro nodded. He stood up, and he exited the room while following the head of the orphanage.

The head of the orphanage turned her head and looked behind her; then she sighed in admiration when she saw Sujiro following her. "The kid is blind, and he is walking like he wasn't blind; he is a very special boy."

She then turned her head away and continued walking towards the guest room.

________

In the guest room

When the guest room's door opened, Sujiro and the head of the orphanage entered the room.

Mifune, the current shogun of the land of iron, smiled when he saw Sujiro.

He looked at the head of the orphanage and said to her, "You may leave now, miss."

The head of the orphanage bowed her head and left the guest room.

Mifune then said to Sujiro, "Take a seat, kid. I came here to have a chat with you."

Sujiro nodded. He slowly walked, and when he touched the table, he took a seat on the floor.

Mifune then puur some tea in the empty cup, handed the cup to Sujiro, and said to him, "Drink some tea, kid. I bought this tea from the land of tea; it is quite good."

Sujiro smiled to Mifune and said to him, "Thank you, sir."

Mifune chuckled when he heard this and said to Sujiro, "You don't need to be polite to me, kid; your father was like a brother to me."

Sujiro was surprised when he heard this and asked Mifune, "You knew my father?"

Mifune sighed in sadness, and Sujiro could sense the sadness in Mifune's heart. After a few moments, Mifune said to Sujiro, "Your father was an hanorable samurai kid. I always looked up to him. He was my role model. We trained together under the same master. When our master passed away, he was chosen to be the shogun, but he refused. He only wanted to hone his swordsmanship and live happily with his family, but things didn't go as he planned. He died when he was protecting the Damyo, and your mother passed away when she gave birth to you."

Sujiro lowered his head when he heard this after a few seconds Mifune asked Sujiro, "Tell me, kid, do you want to be a samurai? I can train you to be one if you want."

Sujiro was surprised when he heard this and said to Mifune, "I am blind, sir. How can I be a samurai?"

Mifune smiled when he heard this, and he started answering Sujiro's question, "You can become a samurai despite you being a blind kid; the history of the land of iron had proven this."

Sujiro was stunned when he heard this, and Mifune continued, "In the past, a blind samurai from our land fought against the first generation of the seven ninja swordsmen of the mist and had defeated them without receiving a single scratch from them."

After Sujiro heard, he sighed in admiration at the blind samurai, but he was not sure if he should become a samurai.

Mifune noticed his hestation and said to Sujiro, "Even if you don't want to be a samurai of our land, kid, I will not force you to be one, but I am sure your father would have loved to pass his swordsmanship style to you."

"Now it is my responsibility to train you in the art of the sword You don't need to decide whether to be a samurai now, but what you need to decide is whether to learn the art of swordsmanship or not."

Sujiro was in deep thought, thinking if he should start learning the art of the sword or not After 10 minutes, he bowed his head to Mifune and said, "I am willing to learn the art of the sword from you, sensei."

Mifune smiled when he heard this and said to Sujiro, "Good, very good. From now on, you will be living in my house. Let's leave the orphanage."

Sujiro nodded, then he and Mifune left the guest room.
