Chereads / MHA: The Lazy Genius / Chapter 14 - U.A. Entrance Exams Part 1

Chapter 14 - U.A. Entrance Exams Part 1

The sun shone brightly over U.A. High School, its massive gates standing as the threshold to a new chapter in Akira and Alya's lives. The strongest hero academy in Japan—a place crawling with future heroes, hidden secrets, and most importantly, potential leads on All For One.

For most, this was the first step toward becoming a hero.

For Akira Tachibana, this was infiltration.

Standing side by side, Akira and Alya strolled into the school, completely unfazed by the overwhelming crowd of nervous students around them. Whispers filled the air.

"Look at them! That guy's black hair and grey eyes… he looks so cool!"

"And that girl with silver hair and blue eyes… is she a model?"

"They're so calm… Are they really just examinees?"

Akira ignored them. Alya simply tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, flipping through her fashion magazine as if she wasn't about to take one of the most important exams in Japan.

They reached the examination hall where students were handed their written tests.

Within five minutes, Akira and Alya were done.

Alya placed her pen down elegantly and continued flipping through her magazine. Akira? He leaned back in his chair, pulled out his portable gaming console, and started playing.

The proctors stared in shock.

"Finished already?" One of them whispered.

Another checked their papers.

"…Perfect scores."

The other examinees gawked. How the hell did they finish that fast?!

Practical Exam Briefing – Iida's Unlucky Day

After the written exam, the students were led to an auditorium where Present Mic stood at the podium, preparing to explain the practical exam.

Most students sat up straight, eager to listen.

Akira? Still playing his console.

Alya? Still flipping through her magazine.

The other students couldn't believe their eyes.

"Are they seriously not paying attention?"

"Damn, they must be either geniuses or crazy."

As Present Mic began explaining the rules, a certain blue-haired student stood up sharply. Tenya Iida.

He adjusted his glasses with an authoritative glare.

"Excuse me, sir!" he interrupted loudly. "There seems to be a miscalculation! The exam sheet shows only three types of Villain Bots, yet the paper lists four!"

Akira sighed, not even looking up. Here we go…

Present Mic, unfazed, simply grinned. "Ehh~? Well, maybe if ya listen to the whole thing, ya won't be confused, eh, examinee?! Sit down, sit down!"

Iida stiffened but turned his attention elsewhere—to Midoriya.

"You, with the messy hair!" Iida suddenly barked. "Stop mumbling to yourself! You're distracting others!"

Midoriya flinched, startled by the sudden attention.

Then, Iida turned toward the real offenders.

"You two!" Iida snapped, looking at Akira and Alya. "This is an official explanation session, yet you are blatantly ignoring it! This is highly disrespectful to both the faculty and your fellow examinees!"

The auditorium went silent.

All eyes turned toward Akira and Alya.

Alya didn't even bother looking up from her magazine.

Akira?

He finally paused his game.

A deadly silence filled the air as he turned his golden eyes toward Iida.

"...First of all," Akira said, voice lazy and bored, "who the hell are you?"

Iida flinched. "I—!"

"Second," Akira continued, "do you have a 'Shut The Hell Up' button, or do I have to install one myself?"

The crowd gasped.

Iida turned red with embarrassment and rage. "Y-You—!"

"Third," Akira smirked, tilting his head. "For someone so obsessed with rules, you sure have zero patience. Instead of waiting for Present Mic to finish, you interrupted and wasted everyone's time."

Iida's mouth opened—then closed. He had no rebuttal.

Akira leaned back. "Now, if you're done being annoying, I'd like to go back to my game." He put his feet up on the table and resumed playing, completely unfazed.

Alya, flipping another page, smirked.

The other students?

They were dying inside trying not to laugh.

At the Exam Site – Akira's Limited Arsenal

The students gathered outside the massive metal gates leading into the city-like battlefield. Large combat drones could be seen patrolling in the distance.

Everyone was checking their gear—except Akira.

Standing next to Alya, he looked completely relaxed, his hands tucked into his pockets.

The only weapons he carried?

One dagger—crafted from Silverine before he arrived. Basically can cut through metals.

And a simple pistol.

That was it. No hero costume. No heavy equipment. Nothing flashy.

Alya glanced at him. "You sure you don't want to bring more weapons?"

Akira gave her a smirk. "And let people question where I got them? No thanks. This is fine."

Alya raised an eyebrow. "So you're just going to fight with one dagger and a gun?"

Akira shrugged. "I'm not here to impress anyone. I just need to pass."

Alya sighed but smiled. "Fine. Just don't go too easy."

"Same to you," Akira said, nudging her playfully.

The tension was rising. Students eyed the battlefield nervously.

Only Akira and Alya stood there like it was just another day.

Then—

"START!!!"

The gates blasted open.

Everyone rushed in.

And Akira Tachibana?

He walked.

Cool. Calm. Unbothered.

The hunt had begun.
