SERENA
I let out a sharp cry, as I felt a sharp pain around my stomach. It felt itchy, and painful at the same time. Blood gushed out of my mouth at that instant.
What just happened?
I looked at the one person that stood in front of me, a special person, or at least I thought she was.
I looked down at where the pain came from, and at that instant I could swear my eyes nearly flew out of their sockets.
No, no, no. What was happening?
I looked up again, and looked back down. Blood, still gushing out of my mouth.
"A___arie" I tried to speak, but an object got pierced harder into my stomach.
That particular object that already caused me pain.
I looked down, staring in disbelief. I had just been stabbed with a knife, and from someone i did not expect.
My best friend. Someone I took as a sister, like my family.
Where did it all go wrong?
I looked back up at her, my mouth trembling in fear, and eyes shaking in disbelief.
"Ariel?" I called her name with shaky breath.
"Why?" Was all I could ask.
Just why would she do this? What did I ever do to her?
She scoffed, and let out a loud laugh.
"Too bad, you can't find out" she said, and right after those words, she forcefully ripped out the knife from my flesh, making blood gush out even more.
I rushed to hold my injury, as I stumbled backwards, hitting my head on the wall, and collapsing to the floor.
I laid there, simply breathing my last breath, as I watched my best friend stand meters away from me, smiling, her eyes gleaming with joy.
"Help" I called faintly, my voice threatening to fail me at that very instant.
I was in so much pain and hurt that I could ask for help from someone who just literally stabbed me.
I heard the clicking of heels, making me raise my head a little bit. Ariel, my best friend, took slow calculated steps towards me, like she was enjoying every bit of my pain.
She got closer to me, and bent down on one knee.
"Ariel, please hel_" I whispered with blood gushing out of my mouth.
I dropped my head to the floor, as I was now too weak to even raise my head up. My head felt heavy.
"Oh poor Serena" I heard my best friend call my name.
Then she did something that made my blood run cold.
She laughed.
I could feel tears form at the corner of my eyes. What did I ever do wrong?
"Ari?" I called her by her nickname, the name only I was allowed to call her.
"Please help me! I'm dying" i said in desperation.
She scoffed, and moved closer to me, her mouth inches away from my face.
"What makes you think I would want to help you?" She asked, laughing, and immediately I could feel my heart rip into pieces.
This was someone close to me. Someone I trusted with all my life.
"I want to watch you die!"
"I want to see you take your freaking last breath" she let each word out, her tone literally one of disgust and hatred.
I couldn't see her facial expressions as my head was lowered down, but I knew it would be one of disgust and hatred.
"Ariel? Why did you do this to me?" I asked, coughing out more blood. At this point I knew I didn't have much time. I was losing too much blood, and if I didn't get help soon, I might die.
"What did I ever do to you?"
"I have been nothing but a good friend to you"
"I took you as family" I let all these words out, making me dizzy and fuzzy.
"Please Ariel, i need your help" i said as i managed to raise my head up.
I looked up at her, my eyes holding fear. I didn't want to die.
She laughed, and stood up. "Serena, you don't deserve my help! You deserve to die."
"I have been hiding in your shadows for far too long, I need to come out," she said, and I looked up at her in confusion.
What was she talking about? Shadows?
"Oh, you don't know what I mean?" She said as she let out a laugh.
"Poor Serena, you are so dumb" she added, as she walked around me.
"For as long as i could remember, since we were children, we have been friends" she began, letting out a laugh.
"But!" She said, then paused.
"You have always outshined me"
"Always Serena!"
"Everybody liked you! You had everything at your beck and call. You could get any man you wanted, because everyone wanted to be around you!"
"But what did i get? Nothing!"
"No one wanted to be associated with me!"
"You even dated someone i was crushing on for years Serena" she said, and my face contoured in confusion.
"Wh_what do you mean Ariel?" I asked, feeling intense pain in my stomach area.
Ariel's facial expression immediately changed to that of anger. "Oh, you don't remember?" She said, as she walked closer.
"Okay then" she added.
She bent down, and turned me over, making me face the ceiling.
"What are you doing?" I asked, short of breath, as i felt serious pains.
"Refreshing your memory" she let out a loud laugh, and with a swift motion, she picked up the knife that she had dropped on the floor, beside her moment ago, and stabbed me again.
"Argh!" I let out a scream, as blood gushed out of my mouth.
Tears swelled and poured out of my eyes, as i watched as my own best friend stabbed me three times in my stomach. With each stabbed, she said these words.
"YOU. TOOK"
"ALEX"
"FROM. ME"
Ariel forced the knife out of my flesh, and stood up. Her face and body, covered with my blood.
She held a smile.
A smile of content.
"Remember now?" She said, as she took a piece of cloth on the table and cleaned her hands, and knife with it.
I laid there, in the pool of my own blood, my eyes attempting to close shut, and body limp.
What did i ever do wrong? I never knew that she had a crush on alex, because she never told me. She had always supported me when I was in a relationship with him, and this was even years ago.
She kept that grudge till now?
My head slowly turned to the left, to her direction, where she stood, with a smile on her face.
"Ar_ariel?" I called faintly. You could barely even hear my voice.
"Was this why you slept with my husband, Stephan?" I managed to speak.
Fresh tears streamed down my eyes, as I remember what i had seen.
I had caught Ariel in bed with Stephan, the man who i had been married to for two years.
The man i gave everything to.
"Was it?" I gasped, as i felt air leave my throat.
I knew i didn't have much time left.
Ariel let out a giggle, and dropped the knife and cloth on the table.
"Oh please Serena! Spare me those tears"
"Since you took Alex from me, i only felt it was right if i took Stephan away from me" she walked closer to me, and bent down.
"And it wasn't even that hard. I guess he had always wanted me, because i didn't have to seduce him much. I only kissed him on his cheeks and he pounced on me, like he hadn't had a nice dinner in ages" she let out a loud laugh.
I laid there, staring at the wall, as tears flood, wetting the floor.
I couldn't believe I had been betrayed by the two people I trusted so much in this world.
"Oh!" She said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Don't worry about me getting caught after you die," she laughed.
"I made sure i left no traces" she said, and with that, she stood up, took the knife with her, and walked out of the house, my house, leaving me there, for death to come take me away.
