Chapter 8 - Preparing for the trip

The Dragon General stood before Prince Veer, accompanied by a few of his trusted aides. The prince had spent the entire day pouring over books from the Dragon World's vast library, each one filled with ancient knowledge. He had meticulously compiled a list of supplies he would need for his upcoming journey, a journey shrouded in secrecy.

"General, here is the list of supplies I require for the journey. Please make sure to gather everything by tomorrow morning," Prince Veer handed over the scroll containing the list, his voice calm yet firm.

The Dragon General took the list and read it carefully, his eyes scanning each item. "Prince, when exactly do you need this? How much time do we have?"

"By tomorrow morning," Veer replied without hesitation.

The General nodded, his expression serious. "That will give us enough time. I will personally lead the soldiers to ensure everything is prepared and delivered to your chambers."

After a brief silence, Veer motioned for the others in the room to leave. As the last of them exited, Veer turned to the General and spoke in a low, urgent tone, "I need you to gather only your most trusted men for this mission. I want no one else involved."

The General paused, confusion clouding his face. "But, Prince, what's so urgent about these supplies? Is there something you're not telling me?"

Veer took a deep breath, his gaze unwavering. "This journey is for something far more important than you can imagine. It's a matter of awakening my true powers, and for that, I need your help."

The Dragon General furrowed his brows. "But Prince, the coronation is only days away. You must remain here, in the safety of the kingdom. Your safety is of utmost importance."

Veer's eyes darkened, and his tone became more intense. "I understand your concern, General, but this journey is vital. Without it, my ascension to the throne will be meaningless. I need your expertise, your skills, and your unwavering loyalty."

The General paused for a moment, taking in the gravity of Veer's words. The prince had always been more than just a leader to him; he was a friend. After some time, the General spoke, his voice filled with determination. "I will follow you, Prince, no matter where this journey leads us. However, we must seek the Queen's blessing. We cannot undertake this mission without her approval."

Veer's eyes flickered with a momentary hesitation. "No. This journey must remain a secret. We cannot involve anyone else, not even the Queen. This is a matter of personal importance, and it is essential that it stays between us."

The General stared at Veer, sensing the gravity of the situation. He nodded slowly. "As you wish, Prince. If this is the path you've chosen, I will follow it with you, no questions asked."

Veer placed a hand on the General's shoulder, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, my friend. You've been with me since childhood, through thick and thin. I trust no one more than you."

The General's voice grew thick with emotion. "Prince, you are the reason I stand here today. You gave me purpose when I had none. You gave me the strength to lead the Dragon Army. And I will do anything to ensure your success, even if it means laying down my life."

Veer's heart swelled with a mixture of pride and affection for his loyal friend. "You are a true warrior, General. But never forget, we are equals in this journey. I value your friendship above all else. So, please, do not kneel before me. We stand together."

The General's eyes glistened with unshed tears as he nodded, a sense of honor and duty emanating from him. "Very well, Prince. I will go now and prepare everything for our journey. Tomorrow, I will meet you here, as promised."

With a final salute, the General exited the room, leaving Veer alone with his thoughts. The weight of the upcoming journey pressed heavily on his mind. He had trained his entire life for this moment, but even with all the knowledge of the Dragon World at his disposal, he couldn't shake the feeling that this mission was far more than just a quest for power. It was a test of his very soul.

Once, during his childhood, Prince Veer was playing in the forest when a group of demons launched a sudden attack. He was with two of his closest friends, but none of them had the strength to face the powerful demons. Just as hope seemed lost, General Feng arrived and single-handedly defeated all the demons with his unmatched combat skills.

Prince Veer was deeply impressed by Feng's bravery and incredible abilities. Grateful for Feng's timely intervention, the prince not only befriended him but also recognized his exceptional skills in battle. To honor him, the prince sought the blessing of the Dregan Mother and appointed Feng as the General of the Dregan Army. Feng's tactical genius and unmatched prowess in warfare earned him the title of the greatest warrior in the entire Dregan realm.

From that day forward, Feng became Prince Veer's most loyal ally. Their bond was forged in the heat of battle, and the prince trusted Feng more than anyone else. He understood that, regardless of the challenges that lay ahead, General Feng would always be by his side and would never betray his trust. In Feng, Veer saw not only a powerful protector but also a true friend and companion who would stand firm with him through every trial.

Their relationship became a symbol of loyalty, strength, and unwavering trust in the history of Dregan. General Feng, a formidable warrior, was also a vital pillar of Prince Veer's leadership, helping to guide the Dregan army to numerous victories. Together, they created a legacy that would be remembered for generations.

As the night stretched on, Veer remained seated, deep in thought. His eyes flickered towards the window, where the faint light of the moon filtered through the curtains. Outside, the sounds of the kingdom's night creatures echoed in the distance, but within his chamber, a deep silence hung in the air.
