This book and any other book I write are based in the world of Cyntaria, a world I put countless hours into creating. Because of this, some terms may be hard to understand, so I'm writing this short guide to explain them. You can skip this without any issue.
The Shadow Syndrome. The Shadow Syndrome is the Nightmare plague introduced during the Second War of the Races. Its first symptoms cause one's shadow to fluctuate strangely, causing headaches and loss of sleep, which is why it's called shadow syndrome early on. However, its symptoms get far worse later on.
Magic poisoning. Magic in the world of Cyntaria is extremely powerful, but it can also be dangerous for its users. Magic poisoning is one of those many dangers. It is caused by using more magic than one's body is currently capable of using. Magic is something that needs to be practiced by first introducing it in small quantities to the body, then by slowly using more and more so that your body can adapt to its presence and build an immunity to it. Certain races are naturally adept at magic and can use it more at birth, but all races need to practice magic in this way to get stronger. The symptoms of magic poisoning are as follows. Blood turns black, veins bulge, sweat, dizziness, and the solidification of the blood causes death. Those who die from magic poisoning are often found stuck in the stance they died in, like statues of flesh.
Magical Presence. The term magical presence is primarily used by humans, as they are the only race not naturally born with magic and must start at extremely low levels of magic at the start. Those with a magical presence are rare humans who are born with magic; this is what is known as a Magical presence. Only about 10% of humans are born with a magical presence; however, in the walled city of Silvport, the percentage is much higher, as they have been cut off from the world for thousands of years, and their unique culture has made their interactions with magic an everyday thing. 30% of humans there are born with a magical presence.
I will occasionally add stuff here so if you find anything in future chapter that are confusing please comment and I will update this lore guide with the information.
