Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 The Blood-Detective part 2

Jeff's carriage moved through the damp street of Silvport once again. The smell of wet stone and wood filled his nose as he looked out the right side window of the carriage—a large lake with what appeared to be a massive floating castle in the center. As the carriage moves closer to the lake, a White Stone bridge can be seen stretching from the large structure and connecting to the streets of Silvport. Moving towards the bridge, a white glow gleamed off the carriage and Archilian horse; approaching the Large structure, a large wooden double door began to open, revealing the large courtyard within.

As the Carriage stopped on a large circular pathway, its door opened, and Jeff stepped out. Looking around, he saw the extravagant buildings constructed of the same white stone and ironwood as most of the city, except everything looked higher; the white stone had engravings, and the wood was more polished. all except for one building to the right, hidden behind a large fountain. The building looked constructed of black stone and cobble; its construction appeared cheap, and above the door hung a sign labeled Enforcement Corp.

After entering the small, shabby building, Jeff went straight to the back, through the training courtyard, and into a magik laboratory.

"Constable Hansen, what took you so long? You are always late; it is as if you do not care about your job." A thin man with bright red hair stood in the back corner, staring at Jeff with great disdain.

"Ector, why must you berate me whenever I come to work? Did you receive those samples that were sent here?" Jeff spoke with a scoff.

"Oh yes, the samples. You certainly sent me some interesting stuff this time, didn't you? First off, the fur doesn't match any animal within the walled city. It would seem the walls that protected us from the outside for thousands of years aren't as impenetrable as we thought, but then there's this blood you brought me. It's not human I used the verification spell, and it turned black. Not human." Ector spoke with excitement. A disturbing smile was planted on his face. Jeff placed his hand on his forehead and closed his eyes in disappointment.

" And the skin?"

"oh well, the skin seems to be completely human. At least, that's all I can see; the verification spell only works on blood. We never expected to get skin without the blood to begin with." Ector sat in a chair and looked at his desk of paperwork.

"The coroner also confirmed that the body wasn't human, not that it was important; I already proved that with my blood test."

"do we know what she was and that fur? What was it from?" Ector let out a deep sigh.

"Unfortunately, no records were made of what was in the outside world when the city was built, and no one has gone outside since, so no, we have no clue what they were."

"Forget this; I'm going home, Ector. Tell the boss I was sick or something, could ya." Jeff turned to leave, but as soon as he did, he ran into someone.

"Oh gods, I'm sorry, sir, I didn't see. Let me help you up," The strange person quickly stammered to help Jeff, but he broke a pendant off Jeff's wrist as he did.

"Gods damn, Forget it I need to get outta here." The young stranger watched as Jeff left the room. Then he smiled and dropped the pendant on the ground before stepping on it; soon, a black mist could be seen escaping from the bottom of his foot. the sapphire gem of the silver pendant had shattered, releasing the strange magical essence.

"I guess it was easier than I thought it would be."

"What was that, Constable?" Ector looked at the man curiously.

"Oh nothing sir, I uh, I appear to be lost i.. is this th.. the training barracks?"

At an old, run-down house, Jeff stood in an office, a mess of books strewn across the floor and desk as he obsessively looked for something.

"where is it? Shit.. was I so distracted that I didn't even feel it fall off my wrist?" Jeff Plopped down in a chair, frustrated; while searching for a book that might have information on the outside world, he noticed the pendent he'd had since birth was gone. It was the only evidence that his parents existed that he had.

The Pendant was found on him when he was left at the Hall of Government as a baby. Captain Leverik, who was still a low-ranking soldier at the time, had adopted him, yet still, even after growing up with Leverik as his father, Jeff always felt as if he didn't belong; something was missing. While Jeff was thinking of the past he was looking through a book.

"How is it possible that those who built this city never made documents of what lived outside the wall? None of this makes sense to me."

Jeff had come home looking for clues of what may have crossed the wall, yet all he could find were fantasy books. Werewolves, Vampires, orcs, and goblins. If those creatures existed, wouldn't there have been museum displays? It seemed impossible to wipe such fantastical creatures from history. While in deep thought, he suddenly felt sick; rushing to the Latrine, Jeff started to vomit. Everything he'd eaten that day had suddenly evacuated itself.

He walked to the mirror in a deep sweat, and what he saw looking back at him left him in shock. The veins in his face had turned black. The sclera of his eyes was Deep abyss black, and the iris was a silver blue. His ears grew to a point, and his nails sharpened. In the corner of his eye, he saw a black fog lifting from his body, and under it, a deep blue glow emitted from his body.

"wha.. what The hell's... is th?" Jeff had soon collapsed, fainting from pure shock. His entire world had just been flipped upside down.
