Chapter 1 - Chosen herald

To say that Larry Kelloman was unfortunate was an understatement. You see he was born with a constituition that was incapable of fighting disease. It had something to do with his immune system.Larry didn't understand and frankly he didn't want to.

If one thing was lucky for Larry it was that his parents were rich and that scientists were extremely eager to study his condition to prevent future cases. The moment Larry was born he was placed in a sterilised area in a research compound.

The fact that Larry was even still alive was a miracle onto itself.Larry didn't think that.He found life boring. He was unable to interact with other people or go outside. The second he had been born and the genetic reader had detected his condition he had been isolated and raised by robots.

"Have you heard they are raising the alarm for a pandemic." Larry was 18 by this time and usually listened in to the researchers conversations even though they were behind secure glass windows.Sometimes he would hear interesting things like he was just about to.

"I've heard about it apparently their going to move Larry to a more secure centre."

"It's strange though the disease appears to spread quickly but its spreading even more rapidly in the direction of this research centre."

BANG

"What the hell was that?" One of the researchers exclaimed as his head rapidly turned in the direction of the commotion.

A door burst open in the observation room.A towering figure waltzed right in.The figure looked around as if searching for something and then his gaze landed on Larry.Larry's stomach flipped.

To say that the figure was sick and would arouse disgust was an understatement. The man's skin appeared to be in several stages of necrosis revealing the green muscle underneath. His eyes were yellow and glossed over as though he were blind. One of his ears appeared to have rotted off.His clothing which Larry couldn't make out the details of was severely weathered and patchy.

The figure which Larry couldn't tell if it was man or woman pointed at him with a crooked, skeletal finger.

"Chosen herald we have found you." The figure spoke in a voice that was far less disgusting then his appearance. The voice was clear and oddly caring as well as eloquent.

"Hey you're not supposed to be here." The researcher who exclaimed earlier spoke in shock but also fear. His fear came from the fact that he had lived a simple life and profession and never had to witness a horror like this.

The figure moved like a blur.Something that necrotic and afflicted should not have been able to move that fast. Two hands gripped the researcher's neck and slammed him onto the table.

"Wait I..." The researcher didn't get to speak as the figure proceeded to vomit green puke on the researchers face.

The researcher tried belching but then stopped and giggled and turned towards Larry.Larrys fear kicked up a notch.Whatever this disease was...it wasn't normal and it was here for him.

Larry turned but there was nowhere to head to.He was locked in this sterile living place with no exit.He heard the sound of glass breaking. They would be upon him soon.

He rushed to his bedroom to hide under the bed but he heard the sound of landing feet and rapidly gaining footsteps.A hand grabbed his arm and yanked him backwards. His body was turned towards the figure.

"Do not fear chosen herald. The pain is only temporary.Accept the gifts of the plague mother and be born anew. When you reach the glorious gardens of pestilence be sure to tell the plague mother that Billy Johnson sent you." The figure who was Billy Johnson smiled and breathed a host of contagious into Larry's open mouth. His mouth was open due to his excessive fear.

When Larry breathed in the contagions he body was immediately racked by pain.It wasn't just a physical pain but also a mental and soul like pain too.He had gained a splitting headache and his entire being felt as though it was being fundamentally changed.

The pain then began to subside and a sort of peace enveloped Larry as though he were being embraced by a mother with the diseases running rampant in his blood.

Then Larry died under the grinning gaze of Billy Johnson.
