Just as Jeff was about to prepare and cook his rice, a sudden ding rang sharply in his ear. He froze. In the next moment, a glowing virtual panel appeared before him.
[System has successfully bound to the host. Do you wish to accept?]
[Yes] or [No]
Two buttons hovered in front of him one to accept, the other to decline.
"Of course, I'll accept. What kind of idiot would say no to cheats?" Jeff muttered with a grin as he immediately tapped the [Yes] button.
The panel flickered, and another message appeared.
[Loading: 3... 4... 8... 14... 78... 99... 100%]
Once the loading finished, the interface changed, and a calm, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
[Welcome, Host, to the Lucky Spin System.]
[You can spin every day and receive a random reward]
[A newbie gift pack has been given to the host. Please open it]
Jeff stared at the glowing panel as a small gift box materialized in front of him, floating midair with a soft golden glow.
Without hesitation, he reached out and tapped it.
The box shook slightly, letting out a playful jingle, then burst open in a flash of light.
[Congratulations to the host for acquiring: Godly Programming]
"Godly... Programming?" Jeff blinked, his voice was haggard.
A new panel popped up immediately, displaying the description of the reward.
[Skill: Godly Programming
Description: The host gains infinite knowledge in programming and digital systems. The internet is now considered your personal domain. Firewalls, encrypted data, digital currencies nothing is beyond your grasp.]
...
Then, in an instant, a flood of infinite knowledge about computers surged into Jeff's mind.
It didn't hurt instead, it felt smooth and oddly soothing, as though his brain was being massaged by pure logic.
His eyes fluttered slightly as the data settled in, and when the absorption ended, he remained still for a moment, stunned he was stunned and frozen.
Moments later, a wide grin slowly spread across his face, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"I can't believe it… my favorite skill, given to me just like that. Talk about lady luck," he muttered, the joy and disbelief was clear in his voice.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Jeff completely forgot about cooking some rice.
Instead, he grabbed his tablet and opened his favorite programming app called Phyton.
His fingers hovered above the screen, buzzing with anticipation.
He thought of creating something simple: a basic calculator. But before he could even begin typing, his hands moved on their own, dancing across the screen with precision and speed.
The Python code flowed effortlessly, like muscle memory he never knew he had.
Jeff hands started writing the code. He defined the functions for basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Then, he wrote the code to take user input and display the result on the screen.
Next, he tested the code by running it on his tablet. He made some tweaks and fixed a few errors before the calculator finally worked perfectly.
"Wow, this skill is seriously overpowered," Jeff exclaimed with joy.
It had only taken him two minutes to program a basic calculator, and even he was amazed by how fast his hands had moved.
His fingers were a blur across the screen faster than he'd ever thought it was possible.
"If only I had a proper laptop or computer," he muttered.
Then suddenly, an idea struck him. Without wasting time, he tapped the call icon and waited.
After a few seconds, his mom's face appeared on the tablet screen. She had soft blonde hair and a slightly chubby face that made her look cute.
"Yes, what is it, darling? Why'd you call?" she asked with a warm smile.
"Mom, I need your help," Jeff said, using his most loving tone.
"I knew it," she said with a teasing sigh.
"Every time you call, it's because you need something. So, what is it this time?"
She looked at him patiently, waiting for his answer.
"Mom, it's a little expensive," I asked with a shaky voice.
"Just tell me what it is. I'll do anything, as long as it's affordable," his mother replied, her tone gentle but firm as she waited for him to speak.
Jeff hesitated for a moment, then finally said what had been on his mind.
"Can you buy me a computer… or a laptop, if it's okay?"
Her mother blinked a few times, "A computer? How much is it?"
"I'm sorry for asking something so expensive, Mom," Jeff said quickly, a nervous edge in his voice.
"It costs around twenty to thirty thousand pesos. I know it's a lot, but I really need it… for my projects and research."
He lowered his gaze, well aware that such an amount wasn't easy to spare for their family.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before his mother responded.
"What kind of projects and research are you talking about?" she asked not with rejection, but with curiosity, clearly wanting to understand her son's sudden urgency.
"I have some reports I need to work on," Jeff said, trying to sound convincing.
"And I want to do some research for my projects."
It was a lie, of course. He wasn't ready to reveal the existence of the godly hacking skill not yet.
His mother raised an eyebrow, "But you're still in high school, not in college." She let out a soft sigh, then added, "Still… I'll try my best. When do you need it?"
"When you have the money, Mom," Jeff replied gently.
He knew very well that twenty thousand pesos wasn't a small amount for their family.
"Tomorrow's Saturday, right?" she said after a short pause.
"I'll send you the money on Sunday."
Jeff's eyes widened slightly, surprised by her quick answer. Before he could say anything, her voice came through again it was tender and understanding.
"I know that's not your only reason for wanting a laptop… but if it makes you happy, I'll buy it for you."
A warmth bloomed in Jeff's chest as he smiled softly at the screen. His mother always saw right through him but still chose to support him anyway.
"Really, Mom? Thank you!" Jeff exclaimed, his voice bursting with excitement.
"Don't get too happy yet," his mother replied with a soft chuckle.
"I have to go now. I'm still at work. You should eat your food, alright? Bye. Love you."
And with that, the call ended.
Jeff leapt onto his bed and started dancing like a robot, arms flailing in stiff, jerky movements.
His lack of maturity was on full display, but who could blame him? Coding on a phone was frustrating, and the thought of finally getting a proper computer sent a wave of pure joy through his chest.
[Mothers really are the best, aren't they?]
"Oops, I forgot to cook," Jeff suddenly remembered, quickly moving to cook the rice.
He then bought some fried chicken outside, which he planned to have for his dinner later that night.
After finishing his meal, he went to sleep for the night.
When the sun rose up in the sky, Jeff woke up and realized it was the weekend.
He decided that today he would go to a computer shop to work on making a game by bringing his USB with him.
First, Jeff cooked his usual meal of rice and boiled an egg in the rice cooker. After the rice and egg were cooked, he removed the shell from the egg and ate his lunch.
When Jeff finished eating, he took a quick shower and changed into his shorts and a white t-shirt.
He then grabbed the USB from his drawer and put on a mask and hat before heading out.
"Good morning, Aunt," Jeff greeted with a smile.
"Good mor-. Why are you dressed like that?" Rose stopped her greeting and asked, looking a bit surprised before realizing the reason.
"Oh, I see my little Jeff is all grown up now. Are you going on a date?" she teased.
"No, it's just really hot outside," Jeff explained.
"Okay, okay," Rose chuckled.
"You should go now before you're late for your date," she added playfully, ushering Jeff out the door.
Jeff seeing this sighed and left without explaining further, knowing that Rose wouldn't believe him anyway.
He then headed to a nearby computer shop where people go to print their projects or play games.
Upon arrival, jeff went inside and sat down, turning on the PC. The computer shop was spacious with 23 computers and air conditioning, making it his favorite place.
He approached the owner and requested an open time, to which the owner nodded in agreement. He then returned to his computer and began working on his game.
Jeff decided first what kind of game he wants to make, then an idea came to his mind. He remembered that there is no Minecraft in this world.
