Chapter 16: The First Night
Evelyn sat stiffly on the edge of the massive bed, her breath shallow. The room felt too small with Lucian's crimson gaze locked onto her.
She still wasn't used to this. The safety. The warmth. The sheer luxury of his villa.
And yet, she knew what was coming.
Lucian sat beside her, his fingers tracing along the soft fabric of the bedsheet. "You're tense."
Evelyn flinched. "Of course, I am."
Lucian's smirk deepened. "You still think you have a choice."
She turned to glare at him, but before she could speak, Lucian grabbed her chin gently. "You agreed to stay. That means you belong to me."
Evelyn's stomach twisted. "You—"
Lucian pulled her closer, his breath hot against her ear. "Relax, Evelyn. Tonight, I'll be gentle."
Her heart pounded. She wanted to pull away. To fight. But Lucian's presence was overwhelming.
And some part of her didn't hate it.

Lucian leaned back against the pillows, patting the space beside him. "Lie down."
Evelyn hesitated.
He chuckled. "Still resisting?"
She bit her lip. It wasn't resistance. It was fear.
Lucian didn't give her time to process. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto the bed, pinning her beneath him.
Evelyn gasped.
Lucian was strong. Unshakable. Absolute.
His fingers trailed down her arm, sending shivers through her body.
"You'll get used to this."
Her breath hitched. Would she?
Lucian tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze. "You're mine now, Evelyn. Stop fighting it."
Evelyn's lips parted, but no words came out. Because deep down, she knew it was true.
