The next morning, Haruto couldn't concentrate in class. His mind kept drifting back to the Snack of the Gods. He immediately made up his mind: he was going to find it.
But there was one problem—he had no idea where to start.
He rushed to the school rooftop to think, where his childhood friend Mei was already sitting, reading a book. Mei was the complete opposite of Haruto—practical, grounded, and not easily swept away by wild ideas. But she was also his most loyal companion.
"Hey, Mei!" Haruto said, nearly out of breath from running up the stairs. "I need your help!"
Mei raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "What now?"
Haruto grinned. "I'm going on a quest to find the legendary 'Snack of the Gods.' I need you to help me."
She closed her book with a sigh. "Haruto... This sounds like another one of your ridiculous adventures. What is this snack supposed to do again?"
"It's supposed to make the best day of your life come true! I have to find it!"
Mei leaned back, stretching her arms. "Fine, but you're buying lunch if we do this. I'll help, but I'm not doing all the work."
Haruto agreed without hesitation. "Deal! Let's go!"
