Unlike any other day, the atmosphere this morning in the Clark Events office was eerie. As Amelia prepared to start her day, she sat in her office with her gaze fixed on the document Dominic had just given her. It was a confidential file containing vital information about Victor Castellano and his shadowy network. Not only does the file reveal Victor's manipulative tactics, but it also discusses various connections that show just how deep his influence is over major corporations.Dominic walked into his office without knocking with a cup of coffee in his hand. "Did you read it?" he asked.Amelia nodded and put the document back on the table. "He's such a monster. I can't even believe someone could have this much power and use it to destroy others for his own personal gain.""Victor isn't just an ordinary businessman," Dominic explained. "He's even more dangerous than a predator. Every move he makes is carefully planned far in advance, and more than that, you can't fight him the usual way."Amelia sighed. "So, what's your plan? We can't let him take this company, Dominic. I'm not going to just hand it over."Dominic looked at her seriously. "There are ways to fight him. But we have to take a big risk if we want to fight Victor, we have to expose his secrets to the public. It's the only way to stop him."Amelia fell silent again. Revealing Victor's secret meant involving the media, investigations, and most likely, endangering the lives of anyone involved."How do we do that?" she asked at last.Dominic plopped down in a chair across from Amelia's desk. "I have some acquaintances who are involved in Victor's network. He is one of his confidants, but he told me that he has wanted to get out of the network for a long time. If we can get some help from him, we'll have enough evidence to bring Victor down.""Who is he?""His name is Marco," Dominic replied briefly. "He's been working for Victor for years, but he's getting fed up with the way Victor runs his business. I've contacted him privately and he's agreed to meet."Amelia felt a small hope rising. "When can we meet him?""Tonight," Dominic replied. "But, it won't be easy. Victor has many spies scattered in almost every region. We'll have to be very careful."Amelia nodded, "I'll be sure to keep an eye out for that."Amelia and Dominic left for the meeting location very carefully, they had deliberately not left the office since the afternoon so as not to arouse suspicion from their employees. The meeting place Marco chose was a small restaurant on the outskirts of the city away from the limelight. Dominic parked his car in a quiet dark alley and they walked into the restaurant feeling very tense.Inside the restaurant, Marco was waiting at a table in the corner. The man looked a little uneasy, his gaze constantly glancing towards the entrance, as if he didn't want anyone to know where he was. When he saw Dominic and Amelia enter the restaurant, he gave the code with a small nod."Marco," greeted Dominic, taking a seat across from the man. While Amelia sat right beside him, she watched Marco very closely."We have to hurry," Marco said in a low voice. "I don't have much time. If Victor finds out I'm here and meets you, then I won't survive."Amelia cringed at the note of fear in Marco's voice. "What do you know about Victor's plan?" she asked.Marco pulled out a flash drive from his jacket pocket and handed it to Dominic. "Everything you need is here. Transactions, forged documents, even evidence of his involvement in some of the sabotage he's done to other companies is on this flash drive, it's more than enough to bring down his network."Dominic took the flash drive carefully. "Why do you want to help me, Marco?"Marco let out a long breath. "I've had enough of all this evil. Victor has not only destroyed the company, but he has also destroyed the lives of many people. I'm sick of it and I don't want to be a part of it anymore."However, before they could talk further about their next plan, the restaurant door opened with a bang. Several men in black suits entered impatiently, their gazes sweeping the room as if searching for their intended targets.As soon as he saw who entered the restaurant, Marco looked so panicked. "They know I'm here," he whispered hoarsely.Dominic rushed to pull Amelia's hand with him. "We have to get out now." He made sure that Amelia was safe from Victor's son.They ran towards the back door of the restaurant, but one of the men spotted them and started chasing after them. Amelia felt the adrenaline rush through her body as they ran out into the dark hallway behind the restaurant. She felt like a thief caught by her owner."Get in the car!" shouted Dominic, he opened his car door quickly. Amelia and Marco jumped in, while Dominic immediately stepped on the accelerator and drove away from the restaurant at high speed.In the rearview mirror, Amelia saw the men chasing them in a large black car. "They're chasing us!" she exclaimed in fear.Dominic tightened his jaw. "I know. Hold on tight."In a very thrilling situation, Dominic led them through the narrow streets to try to avoid the pursuers, however, the black car was still behind them and getting closer."We won't be able to run away from them," Marco said in a panicked voice.Dominic nodded while his eyes remained focused on the road. "We don't need to run. We just need time. You guys don't make me panic."Amelia looked at Dominic with a confused look on her face. "What do you mean?""Trust me," Dominic replied shortly.He took the car to a quieter road and stopped at an old warehouse. Dominic got out of the car and motioned for Amelia and Marco to follow him."Go inside," he ordered.Inside the warehouse, Dominic opened a secret door that led to an underground passage. "This place will be safe for a while. They won't find us here."Amelia followed Dominic into the hallway with mixed feelings. Now she faced not only Victor's threat, but also real physical danger.Dominic closed the secret door behind them and turned on the small light in the hallway. "We'll organize the next steps from here. Marco, you'll have to explain more about what's on that flash drive."Marco nodded although his face still looked pale. "We have the evidence to bring Victor down, but we have to do it very carefully. He won't stop until he gets what he wants."Amelia looked up at Dominic, her eyes full of strong determination. "We have to take him down, Dominic. No matter what it takes. I'll take him down even if I have to do it alone."Dominic nodded. "And we'll do it together."Amidst the shadows of the underground passage, they planned their next steps.
